Bloodclaw sparring session

Forté

Recommended Posts

Forte walked into the Fangs sparing chambers, unarmoured. Wearing his fatigues of dusty grey and vest top. Dark brown hair tied back and exposing the shaved sides of his head and the tribal tattoo over his right ear. Looking around, he realised his current sparing partner from the Great Hall, Arez 'Greenhorn' hadn't showed. Was he backing out? Surely not. No Wolf worth his salt would back down from a challenge.

How he had disliked being bated with the nickname given to him by MaveriK. Made him so easy to goad. Should be fun to spar with this brother. Even if he isn't one of the blooded hunters.

Pacing round the room, taking in his surroundings. The square chamber being of modest size and without hidden intent. Plain walls, flat stone floor. Enough space to really move around and also be able to watch the more grizzled Wolves spar if you were lucky enough.

Weapons of varing varieties racked on the walls. Swords, axes, spears, shields of so many designs. Not like the ones used back before he was inducted into the Space Wolves. Those would have been useless in the hands of the mighty Astartes. These were much sturdier constructs. Designed for the increased size and improved strength of a Marine. They were not for warfare, mearly training. Even so, they could easily cleave a man in two in Astartes hands.

Pausing at an axe which reminded him of the one he used to live by. Back when with his old tribe on Fenris. It went with him everywhere. Hunting, scouting and fighting. It had done him proud as he grew up. Running his hand over the blade, he thought back to past times and had to hold it. The size and weight were different but it felt so right. More so than the loud and crude chainsword he used on the field of battle these days. More graceful. A few sweeps through the air, first to the left, then the right. The sound of it cutting the air was like a dream being remembered. Taking a few steps forward, letting the axe lead him in what would be a lethal dance of death......where was Arez?

* throws a spear short so it slides to forte*

Well pick your weapon.I'll take 2 swords.

"My sister threw better than that from birth. Hope you spar better than you throw or this will be far too easy"

Fenrisian battle axe still in hand, held loosely by his right leg. Forté removes a round shield of plasteel from the wall.

Walking into to circle in the center of the room, twisting his head from side to side and rolling his shoulders in preparation for the coming melee.

*keep the wolf in check. Use the wolf. Don't let the wolf use you.*

adopting his old fighting stance, shield up and axe held low. Waiting for the first blow to come

"Toe the line when you feel ready and don't leave the circle unless you yeald.

Let's go Greenhorn :)"

*spins sword*

Lets start!

*charges forte*

Easily using his shield and turning backwards to avoid the charge of the young blood claw. All it took was a small nudge and a toe to send Arez flying towards the edge of the circle, nose down on the ground. All thanks to a careless and predictable charge

"Surely you can do better than that Greenhorn! My axe is still cold and my hearts are barely pumping"

Forté continued to keep a distance so as to counter the next move

*get's up*

You know forte that "name" is really annoying.

*smacks forte with the side of 1 sword well keeping the other ready incase of a counter attack*

Who even started the who greenhorn thing?

raising his shield to block the week swing at his head and replying with a sweep of his axe aimed at Arez's shin.

*jumps back and does a feint jab at forte with one sword*

Ha.Axes are slow weapons

*does a slice with the other sword while forte blocks the feint attack*

"Slow weapons eh"

Arez' misjudged his reach while overcompensating for the shield. Leaving himself open to a swipe past his chest which he stepped back from. Another diagonally from mid to shoulder. A third at neck height followed the side of the shield smashing into the side of his head.

:D

"that's not what he ment pup! "charging arez across the arena with a feasting knife in his hand. preparing himself for the attack arez draws him sword and in one fluent motion makes an uppercut with it towards hendrik. hendrik fierce by heart like all wolves but tempered by war already expected this move, simply setting aside the blade using his right arm while stepping aside to the left. this was the moment he had been waiting for, with arez blade still in contact with his right arm, slowly cutting through some of the armhairs arez suddently had no more defensive options, exactly the situation a hunter wants his prey to be in. In a split second the fight was over. Arez found himself with his face in the sand, feeling the cold metal knife gently pushing against his mayor artery." one good slit here pup and even your clotting factor wouldn't have helped you. don't go for the immediate and swift kill pup, it's the one your opponent will be most expecting. instead wait for them to make the mistake, and then let them feel the fury of russ!" ;)

"Didn't realise we were getting training today. I was still warming up"

Stood still with shield and axe, waiting for the next move

[stamps on the floor, springing the spear in his hand. Walks forward, speeding up into a run. As he reaches the pair he ducks, kicking Arez hard in the chest and slamming a spear haft into forte. Forte leaps forward as Firenze steps to the side and disarms the pup, almost breaking his arm, before kicking him into Arez. The whole episode took just 3 seconds]

Now, learn from that while I go fix a training servitor Mav broke yesterday.

*Walks in and sits on the sidelines with munchiez in hands and waits for the show to begin*....

*Sits down next to The Lone Wolf with a small keg and a sack full of jerky.

I hope this ends up being half an entertaining as when they tried to fight the ice trolls.

[grins under his fanged helmet] Grey Hunter? [servo arm on Firenze's backpack grabs Arez and lobs him across the hall]

You mean a now thoroughly annoyed Iron Priest! Come 'ere whelp.

[charges at Arez, tackling him through a rack of weapons. For a few moments there is no movement, before Arez comes flying out, great dents/cracks all over his armour, before sliding on his face to an ignoble halt. Firenze removes himself from the debris and places his boot on Arez' throat, growling maliciously]
