Cpt_Reaper Posted April 28, 2011 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Greetings brethren of the Liber. I was reading through my copy of the Siege of Vraks pt 3 and came across the campaign section. This lead me to yet again question a rule of the Liber: "DIY Chapters may not be a major force in any existing official campaign campaign or else they would have been mentioned in established fluff." Well what if the tables were turned? What if a campaign was written, similar to the Imperial Armour books with our Chapters as the primary focus? Could it be done? I am not suggesting organise a global campaign, rather simply writting the background of said campaign with a pre-established victor and loser. +Note+ The sign up has closed, and I have handed command to Ferrata. Better? But yes, certainly your chapter(s) could play a major part in their own campaign, just dont have them saving Terra or storming the Eye of Terror and destroying Angron or something... So say myself and/or other members of the Liber decided to write this up, do you think it would be a good idea? I was thinking that as with the Imperial Armour books, the members taking part in the campaign could submit some rules for a named character/ unique vehicle/ squad? I would assume it would be in the late 41st/early 42nd millenium as the majority of IA articles I have read seem to be set around there. In terms of a location, I am about to start research on it. I guess it's best to keep away from any major regions (EoT, Maelstrom, Gothic Sector, Terra). Maybe an area of space that that appears open and blank on most maps? Marshal Rohr Posted April 28, 2011 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Dont do a conglomerate campaign with all the Liber in one place. Do a campaign for each Segmentum, pick a sectors (preferably fictional) within the Segmentum, then ebgin doing distance analysis. The Chapters farthest from the Sector contribute the least, unless they are fleet based. The Chapters that are closest contribute the most. Use Espada Azul's DIY Galaxy Map to figure that out. Pick an enemy for each campaign. Im thinking Orks for the Segmentum Pacificus, Heretics and Renegades for Obscuras, Orks again for Solar, Tyranids for Tempestus and Ultima. The campaign in the Ultima Segmentum needs to be the proactive spaceborne interceptions of Hive Ships before they awake and unleash on a planet. Segmentum Tempestus needs to be the defense of a group of worlds from the fringes of Leviathan. Solar needs to be a Crusade to retake the worlds conquered by Thraka or his Lieutenants. Obscuras needs to be a heretic rebellion that is being put down similar to Vraks. Pacificus can be an offensive Crusade into a ork held sector. You will need to decide how big the Crusades/Battle Groups are, because 6-7 Chapters warrants about 50 or so IG regiments, which is a drop in the bucket (Corinthian Crusade). Larger Crusades have billion man Army Groups (Damocles Gulf, Sabbat Worlds, Macharian) and would need sizable Astartes contingents. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Arkangilos Posted April 28, 2011 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Well, I have my own campaign running fluff wise (for three of my chapters, and eventually a fourth, as well as two of my dads chapters, maybe a third, and some chapters I just thought up, as well as quite a few IG regiments).. Several of my IA articles referance to it occasionally. It would be pretty tight to actually have an article actually dedicated to the campaign itself. For example, my Angels of Shadow are on the very edge of Ultima Segmentum and thus I would contribute to the "book" related to that Segmentum. Does that sound viable? Then again, one of their favourite tactics is to pose as a chapter loyal to the Imperium before stabbing their allies in the back and making of with the loot! They do crusade across the known galaxy for 80-90 years at a time. The Crusade units are each roughly two companies worth of marines. IA link is in my sig. Count us in, 2nd Company enroute to battlezone with elememts of the 1st, 4th and 10th Companies We are a planet based chapter in the Ultima segmentum, so I spose we will be bashing tyranids??
