game was capture and control, dawn of war

I won the roll and chose to go second, I rolled a 3 and gave the 10 man squad and the dreadknight scout, as I rarely outflanked so thought I would try it out. He deployed his objective on the second floor of a large ruin in the centre of his deployment, 7 inches from his board edge, I put mine 24-25 inches away near a small hill.

He deployed his tervigon in his ruin, and I combat squaded the 10man squad and deployed Draigo, outflanking with my dreadknight and letting the 5 man squad walk on the first turn. He then infiltrated a squad of genestealers behind my objective, and I scouted forwards towards his objective, leaving one squad within range for draigo to join.

First turn

His tervigon spawns 15 gaunts, the most it can without running out (I believe he cackled at this point) gaunts take a wound off a termie. I ran forward, taking 2 wounds off his tervigon, my 5 man squad shoots then wipes out the genestealer squad, for the loss of a termie.

Second turn

Everything came on, his mycetic spores come down on my right to target the 4 man squad, shirkes near my objective, his tyrant, guard and hormagaunts moving on near his objective, his outflanking genestealers come in on my left, unlikely to effect the game for a few turns. He causes a few wounds but is just out of range with a few of his blast weps. Dreadknight outflanks on my left, and shunts over to be near his objective, then I flame his hormagaunts and kill 13 of them due to him not expecting it. my 4 man squad kill 14 termigants, and I take another wound off his tervigon (he made his cover save, then he made 8 out of 9 armour saves...).

Third turn

His hive tyrant moves towards my dreadknight, along with some spawned termigants and 6 slightly singed hormagaunts. he shoots with everything at my army. I lose no models until the end where the 4 man squad lose a termie then flee off the table, DOH Dreadknight kills 2 hormagaunts but doesn't do enough to be free, meh

fourth turn

He starts to close in on me, 9 spawned termigants deploy on the objective, while a 5 and 12 strong squad of termigants move towards draigos and the remaining termie squad. they shoot and charge, draigo's squad kill their 5 easily and consolidate towards his objective and tyrant, while the other squad remains locked. Draigo detaches and charges towards his tervigon, while his squad goes after the hive tyrant. both of them kill thier targets, the death throes of the tervigon kill 8 of the 9 termigants on his objective, while the dreadknight wins combat finally and consolidates towards the genestealers heading towards my objective, a lone termie emerges from the termigant combat with 1 wound remaining, near my objective.

Fith turn

He runs his genestealers towards my objective but is out of assault range of the remaining termie, a single shrike, a zoan and the 6 termigants from the mycetic spore shoot then assault and still fail to kill the terminator. My turn I move the remaining squad to capture his objective, and dragio assaults the lone termigant. my dreadknight jumps 12 inches and kills 7 genestealers, "oh, forgot he could move like jump infantry", he then concedes as his last survivng troop falls back, unable to regroup.

2 Wound pallies are awesome, granted, I reckon I will have issues vs one of my friends imperial guard army, and some, but that just provides a challenge.

Psycannons were a bit hit and miss, the dreadknght was great for being able to thin out hoards at range, but sucks in combat with them. Draigo helped take an instant death wound and dispatched the tervigon thanks to his move through cover, so did his job. 260 points is a lot for a single MC, especially one that can be tarpitted, but I still love the heavy incinerator so much, and reckon his great sword will help vs vehicles (I love rerolls).

Now I just need to arange some more games, I want a 2000 game so I can use a libby and my second dreadknight :D
