I'm not so sure that the camo scheme suits their character anymore, if i include scouts with my current project then they will display the camo.
I'm looking forward to taking some heads either way.

I have to agree that 100 man slaughter was excellent. The Executioners are indeed incredibly badass. The bit of fluff where the Carcharodons and Executioners squared of with two 50 man forces and NO ONE survived is probobaly my favorite non-Templar fluff ever.

As for your work, well.. we'll see, not sure there is a thread in history with any of your work in it.

Big Question for me is what happened to all that geneseed??
---
I really like the Executioner's(which may be obvious given who gave them their nickname) Nice nice savage chapter who is unyielding and honour bound. Unfortunately there are alot of chapters who could fight for my Codex army space. Perhaps I'll do a Death Speaker and include him in my space wolf force as a count as character (Much of my fluff deals with SW action against Red Corsairs in the Maelstrom).

"This is not the first time you've been left to fate. I can see it in your manner. It takes something from you doesn't it? Being deserted hallows you out and leaves a void inside. People might say that it hurts, that the psyche aches from the wound. It's not true though. Abandonment does not leave pain. You wished it did because that would be better than the truth. It leaves nothing. Not hope, not pain, not forgiveness."

I particularly like the short fiction about them in IA:9, where their Chapter Master commits them to the Secessionist cause. It's the fact that they know they're pitting themselves against the whole Imperium, and don't even believe in the legitimacy of Huron's actions, but join him anyway to pay off their centuries old debt to the Astral Claws. In other words, they aren't tricked into their actions, they know they're on the wrong (and probably losing) side, but their honour overrides any other consideration. I find that a really interesting motivation for their role in the war.
I also really like the Chapter's background and character. Brutal, relentless and dedicated solely to executing the enemies of the Emperor, they're like Space Wolves without the beer, hair or sense of humour
I'm actually going to use Codex Space Wolves for my army, as I think that codex represents certain aspects of the Executioners really well, especially with the theme I've decided on for the army, which is a Battle Company deployed into the Maelstrom during the Chapters 100 year Penitent Crusade. So, lots of battle hardened Tactical Squads (eg Grey Hunters), veteran Scouts who would normally have been promoted to full battle brothers, but are instead 'stuck' as recon squads (eg Wolf Scouts), multiple Deathspeaker Chaplains to record each Axe Brother's saga (eg Wolf Priests) etc etc.

NO COUNTS AS!!! USE CODEX SPACE MARINES!!!
*caps=high pitched squeels*
If I could still give codex marines an additional ccw & Counter Attack (like in 4th Edition) I probably would use the basic Dex. As it stands though, both the way I envisage the Executioners, and the way I want to build the army fit much better with the Space Wolves rule set.
Don't worry though, I'm going to make the army as "Codex" as possible. So Tac squads/Grey Hunters will be limited to 9 man + Vet Sergeant (Wolf Guard), the single Dev Squad/Long Fangs will be 5 man with 4 heavy weapons (like a standard Devastator combat squad) and so on. And there definately won't be any Thunder Wolves!

Spaced hulk - remember that they field stern guard units rather than devastators, if your looking to be fluffy. The chapter has indeed been well written, i'd say the Executioners feel like generic "barbarians" opposed to the SW viking flavour which as a scot makes me empathise with them more.

What i have so far, though if i go truescale it'll be expensive and i'll prob miss out on termies and the like.

Thats a fantastic looking miniature, i wonder why FW decided to ignore this colour scheme and the Mantis Warrior tranquillity camo but included the howling griffons night scheme? They could have atleast made reference.

Already got that covered
As for the colour scheme, perhaps Forge World thought that the use of camo might contradict the Chapter's new image? Perhaps because camo implies stealth and the Executioners favour brutal close combats and fire fights? However, by that line of reasoning the Mantis Warriors Tranquility scheme should definately have been included as they specialise in stealth & ambush.
I agree though, that is a really cool looking mini. Part of the reason I want to include Scouts is so I can try painting them in the old camo scheme.

Another very impressive mini. How did you get the metallic sheen to the armour? (Been wondering how to get that effect myself). The only thing I think I'd add is maybe some battle damage? According to the IA books, the Executioners prefer to leave the marks of their battles on their armour, as a reminder of the foes they have defeated. Other than that, excellent work!

I think them, Minotaur's and the Carcharodons have received the most fan love since the badab war books which is kinda scary given they are the 3 most brutal chapters to take part lol.
I won't be starting a force but can see myself creating a true scale squad maybe for kill team or something.
Anyone know what culture they are based on? As much as I'd love to see some love given to a Scottish based chapter I'm tempted to say these guys might be some kind of Ancient Germanic culture or maybe even Gaul. Hey theyr still Celtic right? XD

The Executioners you mean? Apparently they were influenced by Conan the barbarian from Robert E. Howards books.
Not just the Conan stories - Thulsa Kane takes his name from both the King Kull ( Thulsa Doom ) and Solomon Kane stories.
Also I think some comic book / pulp fiction "weird tales " elements are mixed in as well ( couple of the marines mentioned in IA10 are named Hex and Dunwych ).
You can count me as a fan of the Executioners - not just a cool Badab War chapter ( honour bound bad guys ) but as Imperial Fist sucessors they fall into the big happy Rogal Dorn family.
Whether or not I ever actually painting any - well the biggest drawback is a lack of chapter badge decals ( my free hand is terrible ). I did post a request on the B&C decal thread - if someone is kind enough to produce some IA style chapter badges then I would seriously consider doing an Executioners army.
