And the 7th Assault demi-squad Nathaniel. Nathaniel has power weapon and plasma pistol. The rest of the demi-squad are just bolt pistol & chainswords:

And now for something completely different:

Consecrators.

My aim is to give this "splinter" force a very 30k feel. This will be done primarily through FW releases. I don't particularly care to make a "legal" force as it'll work as "allies" to my Disciples. However I am toying with the idea to have Consecrators RW while the Disciples will provide the DW. In any case as FW will be producing the occational Heresy or pre-Heresy piece, I know there will be a fluffy place for them in my force. You see Disciples are far too new a Chapter to have free access to such "relics".

Here goes:

1st Tactical Squad, 6th Reserve Company. Right now at half strength :D. Mk5 "Heresy" Armour FTW!!!

Some might remember the Contemptor... well the left shoulder was missing and FW promised to send it again. But so far:

The bases are in the mail... But they'll be here soon!

CPT Semper, simply awesome looking! On that Contemptor, you might consider adding some service/campaign badges and personal heraldry on some of those flat surfaces. It's a beautiful model (I think) and you've done it a great service.

What did you use for your black and highlights?

@ Bryan Blair: Thanks for you very kind comments *blushes*. For highlights just two colors: Chaos Black & Hawk Turquise. Effective and simple. No greys.

@ Ring-around-the-roses: Well, he could be fighting a similarly sized foe... But the last picture looks like he wants to grab the camera! Like saying: "Get off my case stupid paparazzi! Nothing to see here! Gimme that camera!" :D

Hey EPK! Nice hearing from you!

Thx for the comment. Consecrators are building up strength. Maybe I should do a seperate tread for them... Mk5 is a joy to work with. I tried out a total red studs pattern but it looked like they had some desease or something. So I took inspiration from your work and tried the metal studs anywhere but the shoulder pad. I also got some Mk4s but they look so -plain compared to Heresy armour...

On more depresing news, the twin Lascannon for the contemptor that I started to work on (waiting for the shoulder piece) is slightly miscast. The coils in the base of the barrel do not match in a complete circle :P. Maybe I'll ask thme to re-send the item or wait for the other interesting options -the assault cannon come to mind- or just order another fist and wait for the cool new options for my second one -whenever it is out. In any case as Bryan Blair said above it will be "blinked up" before I declare it complete!

We'll see.

I've taken some time out from my Disciples and did some thought (and some Consecrators :D). I came to the conclusion that red & green are too christmasy a combo, and something I was not aiming for. So I've done some work to tone down the red and here is the end result. You can compare them to p.1 pictures.

Terminator Squad Chismael:

Terminator Squad Mordrad:

Terminator Squad Elias (haven't done the banner on the sergeant yet):

I think toning down red in favor of white(ish) is overall better. Do you guys think is should replace the red on the Storm Shields with white? I thought about it but it's not red on black that is thev problem it's red on green. Still not sure though...

Disciples looking epic. I don't mind the red personally – in moderation of course. I think if you use the white you need to knock it back a bit as it's too bright compared to the overall colour scheme. Overall everything is looking awesome especially on those bases. I'm liking the way you're highlighting the Consecrators armour edges with blue rather then the usual gray as it stops them going too light in tone.

Cheers

@ Isiah: What? The guy with the striped shoulder pad? Too harlequinish ? :D  :) It's the Eldar in me... It was actually an exercise in masking. The experiment was technically a success but you are right, it's kind of contrasting... I do not intent to carry on, so he'll be a one off veteran of some gravity ;).

Thx for your kind words!

Now why did i missed that?Excellent job my friend.

Although First Master Bardiel of the Disciples of Caliban must be a little unhappy,i reckon there is a mold line on his vestments or is it an illusion of the pic?

So what is the plan?Create a combined unforgiven force?

Actually he is the 5th Master I should have put a coma there... I did now

Thx for your comment! I'll remove the mold line ASAP!

As far as the combined force goes the answer is yes! As the plan is now it will be: Disciples for Deathwing and the main body of Greenwing, Consecrators for Ravenwing and some Greenwing and GotC for Scouts, Ironwing and inevitably some Greenwing. I just hope I'll stay focused long enough...

very nice indeed

I really like green, and I was thinking of doing a Sallies army, but I think you just changed my mind

Sallies? Naaaa. Great fluff but definitely the wrong shade of green :P .

Thx for your kind comment!

Oh God, if I start this I have to put on hold my entire life :P. Ok maybe after I get some RW done... I really have the need to paint a GotC Predator though... Aaaaargh! it never ends! (thankfully).

can i get a breakdown of how you paint your DoC and your consecrators??

Sure thing recon! My big theory is to keep it simple! Find something that works and stick to it. That way you get consistency and you get to finish your minis in a reasonable amount of time - thus keeping momentum and hopefully manage to finish the project (a big if for me)! This of course is highly subjective as people can do very complicated themes and finish entire armies in time for lunch. I'm just not one of them!

So enough with the prologue, here's what I do: I find one single color that will be the base of my highlight. In the case of DA green my color of choice is Scorpion Green. So I mix it with DA green on 1:1 for the first highlight, then 2:1 for the second and then if I feel like it I add just Scorpion Green for the last. In some cases I have experimented with adding some sunburst yellow in the last highlight. I avoid using white or off-white colors. For the Disciples black parts I used astronomican grey as the base highlighting color and worked from there. Same process as above although I avoid using astronomican grey on it's own - too contrasting. In fact after I finish I apply a couple of badad black washes, just to be on the safe side.

For the Consecrators it's easier because they are monochromatic. The base highlighting color here is Hawk Turqoise. This gives a blue-black touch but not overly so, there is still some grey(ish) quality in there. The reason I don't use t-hawk for the Disciples is because I'd don't particularly like the green/blue combo.

Anyway that's really it. :)

Edit: for the black robes of the Disciples I broke the above rule and used t-hawk to highlight them. I did that for two reasons: 1) most of the green areas are covered anyway and 2) I needed to give the feeling of fabric as opposed to some hard surface like armour that on the Disciples it is depicted with the astronomican grey highlights.

Late to the party as usual... Nice and crisp, well highlighted. I dont personally like the blue in your highlights, I prefer a Vallejo color called Dark Grey with a Codex spot highlight but that is an artistic choice and there are no wrong artistic choices.

Are you going to print up some decal chapter symbols or try to freehand?

Hey Brother Dean, thx for stopping by!

Are you referring to the Consecrator highlights? The reason I chose T-hawk as the basis of the highlighting is because it sort of gives both a greyish and a bluish tone. It is not the blue-black effect but something more in-between. I have no expirience with Vallejo paints but I'll check it out - thx for the tip. Keep in mind that the Consecrators have their own thread -you can find the link in my signature.

As far as the Chapter symbol goes I will not even try free-hand. Just can't do it. I have the greatest respect for those that have the ability to produce consistently well made free-hand stuff. I just need to learn how :P. So it'll have to be transfers... at some point.

Yep, Me too if I ever get around to them. Gonna add that new FW Pread? I am considering one. Of course my Consecrators are bare metal in a baggie ATM.

I'll probably get the Deimos Rhino - the Ironwing will be GotC!!! So less relic like... However whatever updates on Consecrators they'll be in the other thread and not before I finish the RW that I've started!
