Quick and dirty pic to show the basecoats going on the Dread.

Will finish basecoats tonight and hopefully get him washed. Hoping to have him finished by Tuesday.

So, basecoats turned into an all night paint session. Here’s where he’s at just now. The base still needs a couple layers of snow added and there’s a few details I’ll need to redefine such as some of the skulls but I am really happy with how he looks. Really enjoyed working on this guy and I’m definitely thinking of picking up another one at some point.

EDIT

I should add that there is another ammo feed for the bottom of the Butcher Cannon but I’ve misplaced it when I tidied up last week. Ill be switching that lone melta out for flamer nozzles either side as well. It will be added ASAP. This guy as he is now though is ready for using in a local charity tournament I have coming up next Saturday. It will also give me the chance to see Insane Psycopaths and System Syns armies in the flesh again.

So had a game against a friend of mine yesterday, he was using his Death Guard and knew I was using my list for next weeks tournament so he brought something he knew would wind me up.

Due to my deployment and my big guys being right at the other end of the table I had to face it down with a squad of Berserkers turn 2! Managed to get my second squad in as well and using Fury of Khorne managed to rip 14 wounds from it. It stomped my Zerkers by which time my Siege Dread had gotten with in charge range. I missed my melta shot before I charged my Butcher Cannon did another wound and when I charged him I managed to take him down another couple wounds. He retaliated and ripped the Dread apart which then exploded and took him down to just 1 wound left. The game was pretty much over by this point and my Knight was in combat and too far away to finish it off. My Zerkers holding their own made me proud though :D

Yeah I was gutted, was looking to make another big kill with the Dread but unfortunately the Scorpions shooting paired with a Las Helbrute ripped a lot of wounds from the Levi before I got to him. My Knight was in another corner stomping on the enemy warlord and his nearby units so he couldn’t get into help. I won by quite a lot on Objective point so the combat with the Scorpion was just for pride haha. He did deserve a decent round of combat though as when he charged my Zerks to start with he only killed one model! His rolls to hit in combat were abysmal :D His shooting however was devastating.

Fantastic progfress here, Biohazard. I've been completely out of the hobby these last few months, but it was inspiring to read through the last ten pages of your blog. The siege dread look slike a beast, dude. Don't forget to drill out the meltagun barrels on it though - atm there's still clippings on it!

Cheers folks, Augustuss good to see you back around. :tu: Yeah the Melta is actually to be removed, I’ve just not decided what to replace it with to show its flamer weapon. I’d actually built him before I saw his rules and thought it was melta he had there. I think I’m going to use the Daemon heads from the spiky sprue. Failing that I have a couple landspeeder flamers there I could try. Or maybe a combo of the two :)

Oh yeah with the painting it look awesome !

I think that with little silver highlights on the bronze areas and some thin shading for the skulls it would be perfect ;)

Keep up ! Can't wait to see more of those Jugger ridders you've made !

Sorry for the radio silence folks. Been busy with a lot of things as well as painting like a mad yin.

Yesterday was a local charity tournament, it’s the 10th year this Tournament has been running and it’s raised a lot of money over the years. The raffle mid way through is always a highlight with some prizes in the £100+ mark. I managed to pick up a game called Ticket to Ride and a box of Sternguard in the raffle yesterday so was all good.

I had 3 really great games yesterday, the first two were against very different Space Wolf lists, I only got a couple pics of the first game

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/9534ECCC-41DA-424E-A6C3-3838C540FB0B.jpg

I may have been a little surprised by the speed and firepower of the Stormfangs, especially when they blew up my Siege Dread in one round of shooting. :( I made a few other mistakes such as

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/C5C232EB-EDED-43B1-ABF9-D78FDA351603.jpg

Charging my bikes into a unit of Wulfen leaving my Lord on an Objective.

Which then led to this

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/72FA5AEB-9DEF-4737-A3AB-44448C3DAC97.jpg

Wulfen then charged my unit of Chaos Marines

Wiping them out obviously.

I got revenge the next round though, and thanks to some really unlucky Shield saves I killed me some Wulfen

Sadly I got no pics of Game two as we were in combat turn one the way we had deployed. So was concentrating on that. The mission used the deployment map that has the 9” bubble in the centre of the table and you deploy in opposite corners. I forget what it’s called. We were both hungry for blood as I had played against this guy at the Rapid Fire Tournament a few weeks ago so it was a rematch of sorts :D I managed a win on objective points in this game which was also nice. :)

Highlights of this game we’re Bjorn being a unit Id marked for murder (part of the mission so worth 1vp) Bjorn and the Ven Dread destroyed one of my Rhinos before I charged Bjorn with my Knight, unfortunately it didn’t go my way and Bjorn blew up the Knight. I rolled 10” for the blast :( My Lord who had charged the Ven Dread around the corner of the Bastion from the Bjorn/Knight fight suffered 5 Mortal wounds which combined with the wound he’d taken on overwatch from the Ven Dread meant he was vaporised along with the knight. My Berserkers who were there to back up the Knight also took 4 Mortal wounds. I did manage to kill 2 Wulfen with the blast so silver lining haha.

After that massacre my Zerkers engaged a unit of Wulfen in combat and they managed to wipe the unit out, which then wiped out the Zerkers in return. This happened with both my units against both his units of Wulfen :D Great fun. My Siege Dread then ran over and avenged his big brother by punching Bjorn back to the Allfather. I did also manage to kill his Thunderwolves which wiped out my Lord and Terminators in our last game so that was a moral victory for me. Like I say I won in Objectives.

The third game by sheer coincidence was against SystemSyn and his awesome Emperors Children. We’ve both been working on the Siege Dread in the build up to this tournament and we both agreed that they were just going to charge across the battlefield and punch each other. It was a great combat and really could have gone either way. I got him first though ;) There was a lot of great moments in this game as well and we actually remembered we were playing a mission and a few times we even made tactically sound decisions rather than just smashing each other to bits. Always a fun game and a great army to face off against. Ill leave some pics of that game here. The halls lighting isn’t great so some of these pics look very yellow/blurry

My Lord battling the Defiler (it did not go well) until the Knight arrived to finish the beast

So again I had a great day of gaming against some really nice armies. Congrats on SystemSyn for taking the win in the Best Painted army again as well. :tu:

Awesome to see that beast brought to life and in action.

I really like how the blood has seeped down from the corpse on its back and ha dripped onto the knight face plate, gret attention to detail.

Seems like your games have a pretty high body count! Well, Khorne cares not from whence his skulls come I guess.

Thank you, I’m really happy with how he’s turned out especially in such a short space of time, it usually takes me months to paint a model. :D Or two years in the case of the Knight and I’ve still to add the transfers to him.

Also for my games of 40k this is very much my mantra

Followed your progress on the dread through instagram mainly, but wanted to comment here that he's awesome, I might have to get one myself... Also glad you enjoyed the tournament, I also love how CSM are playing up in more competitive environments this editions, berzerkers are truly great! ;)
