Raven Guard army

I order to give my RG army some flexibility I often use minis that can fill different positions

For example this guy can be used as a Captain, or to lead an Assault Squad or a Squad of Vanguard Veterans.

Isn't that a little Alpha-Legionish :P

I've always wondered, how does that white arms thing work within the Raven Guard? when are they permitted to do so?

Good models

I got a nice pm fm Son of Northern Darkness

Your Raven Guard looks absolutely amazing! I was thinking of doing something similar but couldn't quite find the color combination that I liked but your mix of charcoal greys, black and red is astounding. Do you recall off hand what colors you used?

Currently I run vanilla space marines but am putting a lot of Black Templar badge...

I wanted to share the answer with all of you:

Thanks vm for your nice comments and question, here are the recipes

Armor:

Base coat of Charadon Granite

Highlighting with Space Wolves grey (or Astronomican Grey or Fortress grey)

Wash of Badad Black

Further highlighting with Codex Grey

Pretty simple actually and without using any black paint.

Red:

Base coat of Mechrite Red

Highlighting with Blood Red

Wash of Devlan Mud then highlighting with Blazing orange.

Then another wash of Baal Red to blend the paints together.

I also used this recipe to paint Space Hulk's Blood Angels. The end result is closer to the tone of the Flesh Tearers, but personally I like this tone better than the actual Blood Angels' color.

Nice work mate!

You need more beakies tho..

..and also the chaplain would be easily beakie skull converted..

Give it a try maybe.. :HQ:

Forge World beakies are waiting on my shelves to be painted (MK VI armors are my favorite), I plan to have an entirely Devastator or Sternguard squad equipped with Corvus armors.

Well you'd say that wouldn't you? :HQ:

C'mon show us more!

EDIT: Although I like all your stuff the Vanguard squad is amazing - and so is the you second Tactical! Not overly sold on the jump packed Chaplain - although the all-black helmet was an excellent idea! Very unsual!

The combi-melta is from the the Space Marine Commander box set.

The combi-flamer comes from Forge World's Space Marine conversion set. Unless you get a close look at it this combi-flamer is somewhat difficult to tell from a regular bolter, so I added a flame for good order's sake, and a scope as well ;)

Realy glad to see such a completed Raven Guard's army. I'm personaly not a big fun of lot of white for RG and termies, but in your version it is very cool!

Thanks  Actually, white shoulder pads and arms being the color scheme of RG veterans I didn't have much choice.

Here is the 5th sternguard vet.

I still have to do the basing and put some decals.
