I've heard Nurgle is the easiest way to practice (which I need a lot of!) and I also wanted to put a few Nurgle units in my warband. Wicced, intrigued eh? I'll take that as a good sign. Hopefully you'll get the idea soon enough, but I'll post some fluff along with these guys once they're finished. Basically, they were a "puritan" supremacy sort of group that is captured and eventually, with no other option for survival, accepts the blessings of Nurgle. They are then infested with this disease that begins infecting their armor and manifesting itself all over. Upon return to the warband, they don robes to hide their shame from their brothers but eventually they stop caring and even become proud of it. So if that gives you an idea, I want these guys to look really really corrupted. Oh yes I know but the picture quality isn't that great, it is actually a pistol grip hand but I trimmed off the actual trigger so its only his finger sticking out, I think it looks basically like he's got his hand over the knife hilt or something. In the process of working on the test model, as you can see from the pictures. I'd really rather not go over all the little GS lines and highlight them again and wash with green like I'd additionally planned so I think their diseased bits are going to stay as they are on the test model. The robes I'm going to highlight white + wash with green and athonian earthshade a few times so I've got that covered but the armor I'm not too sure on. I want to show the disease's affect on the armor (making it rusty and corrupt looking) but I'm not really satisfied with the finished product so far. Any advice on how to proceed there? Kinda want to keep green off the armor to emphasize the actual diseased fleshy bits. Chaeron Posted December 26, 2013 Share Posted December 26, 2013 It's shaping up really nicely - but I think you've got to start picking out the metallic bits, any trim, and weaponry, just to make sure that there's a strong contrast going along. Otherwise, it'll blend in too easily with the diseased bits and the armour. Perhaps look at a contrast colour and try and get that in? Have you thought of the trim colour also? Yeah the combi-plasma was one I saw a long while back in a picture and decided that was a cool and simple way to make those. - Chaeron, I thought about it, truthfully wasn't planning on doing one but yeah there's not enough contrast. What do you think of Brass Scorpion (dark bronze) for the trim, and just some watered down silver for other metallics? Brother Ambroz Posted December 27, 2013 Author Share Posted December 27, 2013 Not all of them are, if you look back a bit there are some misaligned ones, but these latest ones I took a sharp exacto and carefully twirled it around while applying just a tiny bit of pressure in the middle of the gun barrel. Just enough basically to make the tiniest hole or more like indentation in the barrel to allow me to use the little citadel drill thing I bought (can't remember what that thing's called). Nhaunter - Yeah I agree, the only thing I like about the GW Plague Marine sculpts is their rebreathers and the cable linking it. I don't really like the fat Nurgle look though. Pretty satisfied with how they turned out, might go back and add highlights to their armor at a later date but for now they're done. Working on the fluff now. Don't think I'm going to be able to finish my vow though, might be able to do the rhinos between now and the end date but there's no way I'd be able to do the havocs. So with that in mind I'm going to deviate and work on something else entirely. We'll see what happens with it.
