BFeeder
Outstanding work on the Lord Commander! I think you've truly nailed the flavour of the III Legion Kizzdougs 1 Back to top

Knight of the Raven
He looks awesome. Love the color scheme.   Thanks! Such high praise   Semper's EC are a big inspiration for me. I'm almost looking forward to the end of the ETL so that he can get back to painting the glorious III Legion I'll be honest, it's more the color scheme and kitbashing than the actual painting that drew my eye, since I know so little of painting that I can hardly make a difference between good, moar good and moar gooder.  And I want to see more Consecrators myself, but I think I'll have to wait for Forge World to make legion heresy armor sets before that happens. Kizzdougs
Wow, very nice blending on the.. err.. everything! I would like to know which steps you took with the white tabard! I started with Mechanicus standard Grey and slowly mixed in increasing amounts of Astronomican Grey. Once I had worked all the way up to pure Astronomican Grey (after about 3/4 different stages) I started to add Ceramite White until I finished off with pure white. Sorry I can't really be more specific as it was a pretty organic process and I used many watered down coats. When shading and blending it's hard to stick to a specific structure or formula, you just have to role with what looks best. Brother-Librarian Haegl
AWESOME!  All of it. The blending on the cape, the framing shoulder-wings....  However, the power sword is what attracts my attention the most. I like how it's a middle thing between the blank metal blades, which do not reflect the energising part, and the fully blended, which, to me, feels kind of OTT. Apologies if you already have answered this request, but I simply have to know how you achieved that. Kizzdougs 1 Back to top

Apologies if you already have answered this request, but I simply have to know how you achieved that. Thanks mate! The Sword is pretty simple. I started with a flat coat of Runefang Steel. I then gave the whole blade a shade of Guilliman Blue, with a greater focus near the hilt. Next I highlighted along the edge and blade with Runefang Steel. I finally finished with Runefang thinned down with Lahmian Medium, concentrated towards the end of the sword.   I've finally finished assembling my first Veteran Squad. I'm not sure when I'm going to be able make a start on the painting because I'm going away on holiday soon... I'm hesitant to make my next ETL vow and then go away and leave it unfinished. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2957_zps2c653b0c.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2958_zps6433875f.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2959_zps8a716658.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2960_zps1a767a5f.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2962_zps70cdc085.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2963_zpse659ac09.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2964_zps0c01ba22.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2965_zps9cb8b14d.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2966_zpse440f7d4.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2967_zpsabc2c2d6.jpg  Ps. I'm thinking of getting a can to speed up the painting process.  Thanks for looking ;) Brother-Librarian Haegl, Tyrannicide, Noserenda and 1 other 4 Back to top

Kizzdougs
ETLIII: vow 3, update 1.  So, I've decided to go for a third vow in the ETL. I've pledged a veteran tactical squad with vexilla, 2x plasma guns, melta-bombs, artificer armour, and a power weapon.  Here are some pics of my first update. I took them fairly late at night so the lighting wasn't great (plus they're blurry ). I'll do better next time, I promise.  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2968_zps98916405.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2969_zpsda057bf0.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2970_zpsbd34dc9e.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2971_zpsd953ceff.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2972_zps68d967ff.jpg  Thanks for looking ;) Xavier Targhost 1 Back to top

Kizzdougs
Thanks forte and Demon2027!  ETLIII Challenge: vow 3, update 2    Just finished highlighting the metallics and managed to take some clearer photos. The stark highlights have added some nice depth to the minis but I'm not looking forward to highlighting all of the purple armour...  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2973_zpsba8a2df5.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2974_zpsdd6c8b77.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2975_zps00daef53.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2976_zps1144a85c.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2977_zps84e0bb44.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2978_zps54a19616.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2979_zps185364f1.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2980_zps89da0035.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2981_zps7e6e68e7.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2982_zps818535fe.jpg  Thanks for looking ;) Brother Vidius, bluntblade, Daemon2027 and 1 other 4 Back to top

Kizzdougs
They look really good brother! I can't wait to see them finished! Do you have any more plans for the III after these? Thanks mate! Unfortunately they wont be finished for awhile because I'm going away for a couple of weeks. I have plenty of plans for the III. I've still got an EC Mortis Contemptor, Phoenix Guard, Command Squad, and enough bits to make another two veterans squads, a tactical support squad and devastator squad. The main challenge is going to be maintaining focus and motivation once the ETL is over and I'm back at uni. Pyromancer 1 Back to top

Kizzdougs
ETLIII Challenge: vow 3, update 3, completion  So I got back from my holiday on friday and managed to get the Tactical Veterans finished over the weekend. I'm fairly happy with how they've turned out but I feel like they could still do with some additional details such as campaign markings/personal heraldry. Let me know if you have any ideas for how to improve/complete the squad.  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2994_zps0dd5b191.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2995_zps5d498181.jpg   http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2985_zps65907149.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2986_zps863083d6.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2987_zps85945e95.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2989_zps1e4d4604.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2990_zpsb97b5534.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2991_zps8779a61c.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2992_zps44204f1e.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2993_zps849c76b7.jpg  http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN2996_zps7f83cf4a.jpg   Thanks for looking Edited July 14, 2014 by kizzdougs Voxxel, daemonclaw, Aasfresser and 3 others 6 Back to top

I was really unsure whether I should attempt the glowing plasma coils or go the safer route of metallic coils. It was only right at the end when I applied the last glaze that it came together.  Oh my God, MY BRAIN! Rotate your pictures, I thought I was loosing my , lol.  Beautiful work, man. Haha, yeah Photobuket was stuffing me around a bit there.
