2 days and I has updates already!

Still in that painting moood so just picked up the nearest project to me.
That project was my Sisters of Battle Aegis Defence Line Quad Gun.

If you don't remember what it looked like, you can scroll back through the pages/ go to the first page and see when it was last updated.
Alternativly, you can just pop over to my hobby blog:
http://theunderhivehero.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/76-road-to-hiding-behind-wall-sisters.html

Anyway. I just started layering the various colours; Purple, Green, Gold and Bone.

Here is where I'm at;

med_gallery_33843_5957_4939.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5957_110529.jpg

With a bit more light

med_gallery_33843_5957_58748.jpg

Cameras never really pick out highlights very well, tht being said it is quite light and subtle.
It still pops a lot more than it used to.

Almost done. I just wnat to pick out some details, maybe add a couple of highlights, and find the clear plastic bubble screen thing to go on the front.

Anyway, that is all for now.

Thanks again for staying with me.

All feedback welcome.

Peace out!

I R Return with an update.

I hold the vast majority of GW kits in high regard, so thanks for the praise guys ( I am assuming that is what this is :tongue.: ).
It really means a lot.

I finished the little details I needed to do on the Quad Gun, but I can't find the bubble screen.

It is somewhere.

I'll dig it out.

In the meantime I just wanted to carry on painting while I'm happy to do so.
I picked up the next thing on my project tray which was Inqusitor Coteaz.

Last time I posted about this guys was around August/ Spetmber 2014.
You can check it out over on my blog - http://theunderhivehero.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/65-throwback-thursday-inqusitor-coteaz.html

Some time ago!

So here is the progress so far;

I've done the vast majority of the red work and all of the cloth/ purity seal paper work.

med_gallery_33843_5271_61858.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5271_99362.jpg

The cape needs the shadows done properly... they're a little patchy, and maybe a final highlight or two to make it pop a little more.
I'll crack on with that after I've finsihed the other larger areas which I've been working on today.

I'm only doing single models for a while so I don't overload myself on amount of models at the same time, also I'm also painting the models form the Mice and Mystics board game.
I'll be posting those on both my personal blog and The Underhive Hero so stay tuned to this/ those.

Thanks for reading!
Feedback welcome as always, as well as any general chatter/ questions about anything I do/ have done.

See y'all soon.

Thanks Deathspectersgt7!

I have been cracking on with painting and other projects across the board.

I posted issue 6 of my boardgame blog - http://thecardboardcartographer.blogspot.co.uk

I've also worked on the modesl from the Mice and Mystics boardgame.
The start of that project can be seen here - http://darkhazzl3.blogspot.co.uk

I've scheduled an update of my progress on that project for the 29th, so expect to see that around 6/8pm GMT :3

It has been a rather hectic week so far, and with the UK Games Expo over the next three days, I don't see much progress happneing until next week.
So for now, here's what I've managed ot get done on the B&C friendly front.

Quite a lot of work on Mr Inqusitor, but all in small details and subtle things.

So I've been working on the face;

med_gallery_33843_5271_71893.jpg

The gun makes it almost impossible to gte a decent focus shot.
As such all of the highlights that define the checks, mouth, and eyebrows look none existant haha.
IRL it is honestly more defined and significantly paler.
I'll have to try and get a picture of these next time, but doing just this crashed my phone a few tmies as the lenses struggled a lot haha.

But as you can see I've finished work on the ragged fur cloak he's rocking

med_gallery_33843_5271_171355.jpg

This picture is a bit chalky, but is pretty spot on for the IRL colour of the cloak, the reds seem super bright though.

This next one is a little better

med_gallery_33843_5271_36761.jpg

I spent a great deal of time fixing the shading issues on the red cloak and it makes for a nice stark contrast that isn't jaring or out of place.
It isn't my usual gentle blended red, but I'm digging it.
I think it suits the style and shape of the cape/ cloak better.

All of the pictures have sneak peaks of the force staff.

med_gallery_33843_5271_134706.jpg

Super work in progress; tons to do here.
But basically, the cream bits are set to be bone/ marble depending how it looks.
The brown bits are to be gold/ copper, probably done with citidel paints as appossed to the Liquid Gold I used for the amrour.
The handle is going to be a rich reddish leather.
The skull is a green>white deal, with a gentle glow on the black skull, with a gloss varnish to finish.

And that is it so far.
It doesn't look like a lot, but it was a good few hours of work ovr a few days.
I am a very slow painter :tongue.:

All feedback is welcome as always, and go and check out what else has been keeping me busy!

Peaceout.

  • 7 months later...

So here we are, a real update with real things.

I've been working on a lot of Bloodbowl, Age of Sigmar, and other assorted projects.
You can read about these none B&C stuff over at The Underhive Hero.
I've also done some work on my Amiibo stuff on The science of selling yourself short.

But I digress...

I've been casting some wings for my Sisters of Battle, but they're got a wee while to go before they are ready for showcasing.
In the meantime I've started my Salamanders. Finally!
But that is not what this post is about.

Today it all about my Imperial Knight.
I got one of these a few weeks ago, and I've been working through it over the last couple of weeks.
I wish I had more work in progress pictures of this, but for the most part it is just a normal Imperial Knight so far.

I did however, want to make a bit more effort with it.
I will be reposing the legs, so I've been cutting them up to re pose them.
I also wanted to make the base of the Knight match my gaming board.

So here is where we are at so far....

med_gallery_33843_7958_155092.jpg

I originally wanted to have a smashed Chimera on the base, but a Rhino was a lot easier :P.
Especially when you're armed with a hammer and a saw XD

The only issue with the Rhino is that it has no interior at the front.
So I set about the detailing...

med_gallery_33843_7958_159873.jpg

med_gallery_33843_7958_190362.jpg

med_gallery_33843_7958_62938.jpg

The driver and engine are taken from the Landspeeder with some plasticard, guitar string, cogs and so on.
The driver needs to be....damaged somewhat.

Once detailed it looks a bit more like this;

med_gallery_33843_7958_178532.jpg

Considering where the foot is planned to end up, the top hatch needed to be more damaged, so I started hacking it apart...

med_gallery_33843_7958_80757.jpg

Which I think looks a little better.
None of this is stuck down yet, as I have to 'tarmac' the road and find a few more details/ debris to add.

I've prepared the rest of the basic structure of Imperial Knight ready to build once the base is finished.
I just want to add more details to it... I'm thinking cogs as I have a good few spare aha

med_gallery_33843_7958_27990.jpg

So yeah, that's one of the things I've been up to.

Feel free to throw comments, constructive criticism or whatever at me.
You can do so on here, on my blogs, on my Twitter or on my Instagram.

That's all for now...

I have been working on my Knight despite the lack of consistent updates.

It's a longer project than I thought it would be!

I had to re-sculpt a load of bits here and there.
One of these being the standing leg.... after re posing it the pistons and ball joint needed to be made to fit.

med_gallery_33843_7958_38557.jpg

med_gallery_33843_7958_55681.jpg

med_gallery_33843_7958_163332.jpg

Took quite a bit of effort but I think it looks all good now it's the right shape and such.

I also wanted to make sure I could swap out all of the weapon options.
So I set to work on the the torso bits.

med_gallery_33843_7958_37008.jpg

med_gallery_33843_7958_159410.jpg

Just a simple job of paper clip to pin them in place.
All of the other weapon options are being magnetised, which has been a pain.
But more on that later...

I did a bit more work on the interior of the rhino too
med_gallery_33843_7958_62972.jpg

And this is the leg that is standing on said rhino

med_gallery_33843_7958_39368.jpg

It took a good deal of time to get all of the sculpting bits done... I'm not the best at it so I put extra effort in to make the shapes as natural as possible.
Probably could have done a better job, but with the shin guard on any mistakes/ irregularities shouldn't be too noticeable (I hope).

Anyway, after finishing all the bits it was time to stick together what I could

med_gallery_33843_7958_244579.jpg

Here it is all together (most of ti anyways).

med_gallery_33843_7958_86964.jpg

I've left as much of it as detachable as possible for when I paint it.
Got a bunch of sprays to do the base coats with, not sure on the colour scheme though.

Suggestions?

Any thoughts, comments and such welcome as always.

Peace!

While I'm deciding on colour schemes for my Imperial Knight I decided to make some more jump packs for my Sisters

med_gallery_33843_5957_1489529.jpg

Just a few more and that will be one of the last pieces I need for my army.

I'm thinking about building another Battle Sister Squad too... just in case I need extra bodies, so that might be something that pops up again soon.

So, it's been a while, but I have been super busy working on stuff!

I'll get round to organising and uploading them soon.
In the meantime here is the Imperial Knight all put together and with a bit of paint on it in places.

med_gallery_33843_7958_87898.jpg

I still can't decide on what colour to paint it aha

So, while I try and decide what colour to paint my knight, and spend forever fixing up my tanks for my Sisters, I thought I'd crack on with something a little more interesting.

I finally started to rebuild my Space Marines, and if you've noticed a running trend in my terrain features, they are going to be Salamanders.

Resurrected from the ashes of Space Marine armies past, this is a project based around re purposing my old Space Marine army.
breaking it down and building it back up better than before

med_gallery_33843_6479_175025.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_110769.jpg

This was a concept model, using bits form various kits, including forge world and spell crow stuff.

I've since done quite a lot more, and will post about those soon.

Here's the production line shot.

med_gallery_33843_6479_107206.jpg

You can make out a few more models here and there... I'll post some more of them soon if I don't get the urge to paint the knight!

More stalling on painting. Shock!

But there are more Salamanders.

med_gallery_33843_6479_298498.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_184481.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_166945.jpg

This is my Librarian.
As my Salamanders are probably going to be 3rd company, I thought I'd base it on Dakir from the Tomb of Fire trilogy by Nick Kyme.

Just needs a little bit of green stuff on the pistol arm to match the sword arm, and for a bit of fire in the center of the chest plate.
Also, it needs some form of scenic base, otherwise the sword arm will drag along whatever table it'll be on.... goddamn long sword :P

More later!

More Salamanders to break up the time between the lack of sculpting and painting.

Part of this space marine project involves recycling my old Space Marine models.
They; like a lot of my projects several years ago, did not receive the care and attention to detail they deserve.

So on that note here is the start of the new squad with their Librarian.

med_gallery_33843_6479_138150.jpg

The eagle eyed of you may have spotted the main recycled marine in the squad...
Here he is in his previous iteration.

med_gallery_33843_6479_201792.jpg

Swapped out the hammer for a chainsword to keep the number of hammers down slightly.

I always like having a Space Marine captain (even if I don't use them), so after re-purposing the previous captain I decided to make a new one, by re -using another old model.

med_gallery_33843_6479_151810.jpg

This guy is made from my very first kit-bahsed captain from the Phoenix Warrior days.
I've added some choice bits to make him decorated enough to be a captain, hence the weaponry... he'll never be use din a actual game so it doesn't really matter :P.

inb4 the questions; the helmet is made using a Sternguard helmet and a crest form the new AOS Fyreslayers.

More marines to come soon!
I think I've decided on a scheme for my Imperial Knight too, so that's good

Until then, comment, constructive criticism, general chatter all welcome :3

So I'm back.
Not such a big gap this time eh?
I wrote up a list... I can't remember if I mentioned it, but essentially it revolves around the Skyhammer Annihilation force formation.

Long story shot Devestators, Drop pods and Assault marines.

Due to the unique rules of the formation it pays to have a lot of devestators with bolters...
So out of the mass of Marines I had to build, that is where I started.

Now, I want a fair amount of drakescale cloaks and unique armour and arms, but I didn't just wan to spam corsair cloaks.
So more pillaging of the Fyrelayers then!

med_gallery_33843_6479_37847.jpg

This more armoured scale cloak is actually a Magmadroth leg piece!
The front side needs some greenstuff work to make it look like an actual cloak form the front, but I think it looks pretty good considering!

He is the Sergeant with his squad;

med_gallery_33843_6479_109027.jpg

The guy with the thunder hammer will be used as the tactical squad sergeant should I even use them in that role instead.

Now, as the Skyhammer specifies two squads of Devestators...

med_gallery_33843_6479_221107.jpg

More bolters! In this case it is captain pointy hands who is the understudy.

So yeah, you may be asking 'why not heavy weapons?'
Well this is for two reasons.
A) I'm using the 'x' point heavy weapon idea...
basically my list just says 4 times 'XX point' heavy weapons.
This allows me to change it as I see fit.
This means...
B) I need to magnatise each heavy weapon devestators.
This is time consuming, and also means that...
C) I need 8 of each heavy weapons that costs 'xx' points, but mainly, I need 8 Multi Meltas, as that is what I'll probably run being Salamanders.

So yeah.
8 Multi Meltas...

That's all for now!

Thanks for all the likes, if you have any feedback then drop a comment!
Also, check out my blog links.... I've been working on quite a lot of other stuff recently!!

Peace.

A new update.
Already?!?!

You know it!

What Salamanders army would be complete without Vulkan He'Stan.
However, I'm not a big fan of the official one, it just doesn't fit with how he looks in my head.

So years ago I decided to make my own, but I never got round to uploading him.
But here he is!

med_gallery_33843_6479_355680.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_115033.jpg

It's an Emperors Champion body, with a Mk 4 helmet (the 1 you got in the Black Templar kit as the Heresy range and Calth were not out yet), a plastic grey knight Nemesis force halberd (which replaced the metal one he used to have), and an apothracery gauntlet for the crazy hand flamer.... the barrel fell off while I was photographic him.

Small update for today.
we'll see what I can dig out for the next one!

So 4 months since my last post...

I know.
I'm sorry.

There was a good stretch where I just lost enthusiasm for the hobby again... couple this with moving all of my hobby to another room (nothing kills a hobby groove like not knowing where anything is anymore), and painting for work and it just dried up.

I've recently been made redundant too.
As of the 1st of October I'm officially unemployed, so I've had to look for work.
Weirdly though, this kinda kick started my need to hobby again XD

So, let's see what I've been up to eh?

We're going to start where we left off; Salamanders.

Post hobby move, I decided to get all of my bits out and get to work...
I didn't quite know what I wanted to do though, then I saw this guy, still BNIB sitting on top of the pile, and he just had to have the Salamander treatment.

med_gallery_33843_6479_71932.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_1657.jpg

Nothing drastic, but enough to start.

There is more coming... and soon.
So stay tuned, and refresh your memories by flicking back through the previous posts.

Don't forget to check out my links... there is a few more updates on my various blogs about other things I've been up to and other things I've painted (some sweet as heck Stormcast Eternals on The Underhive Hero).

Thanks for checking in, and I'll post again soon!

So limited edition models not enough for you, eh?

How about those assault marines I was promising like a year ago?

med_gallery_33843_6479_281524.jpg

Headless, I know. I'm working on it!

Here is all the infantry so far;

med_gallery_33843_6479_294990.jpg

I'll keep working away and will post some better pictures when they're done.

Drop pods in progress.

med_gallery_33843_6479_135447.jpg

Woo.
The Bolter Marines form the core of my Devastator squads.
I need to wait until I can get the 5 multi melta's I need from Forge World before I can finish those squads.

I'm building the drop pods into sub assemblies for painting, and when that's done I'll move on to refurbishing my two Vindicators.

It's getting there.... painting, not so much XD
