Land Speeder Storm

Has anyone got some wisdom they can share with me about Modelling/Painting a Land Speeder Storm well?

My army colour scheme (Crimson Fists) is a nice and simple one:

Spray Black

Regal Blue on Panels

Drybrush Mordian Blue

Highlight Ice Blue

But obviously painting a space marine and a Land Speeder is a little different. I want to get the best coverage possible and dont mind painting parts that wont be seen if it means the parts that are partly seen look ace. I'm only a starter/intermediate so I'm looking for anything that will help.

Which parts should I paint before it gets glued?

Will it be easier to spray black while still on the sprue?

Should I assemble/paint the scouts before gluing them in?

Any quick and easy cool conversion ideas anyone has I'm willing to hear too.

hi optiMAT

i converted my LSS to have underslung heavy weapons, it never made sense to me that the chap firing the weapon gets out, yet the LSS can still keep shooting???

anyway heres some pics of my LSS

when painting the blue, i watered down the paint slightly and did 4 or 5 coats, if your painting with thicker paint you can notice paint marks and streaks you dont normally see when painting smaller models like space marines..

i used a two tone highlight, one thicker enchanted blue, one thin ice blue, and in some places used a darker blue for shadowing.

i added in more black than is supposed to be there for a two tone effect, but too much of one colour can be a little ugly, so my 0.02 is dont be afraid to break the rules a little, aslong as you like it, then its all good

to answer your Qs:

i put mine together before spraying, it saves alot of time and energy and allows you to convert and remove mold lines etc..

its pretty easy to get the paint evrywhere, but any places you miss can be filled in by hand.

if your using the scouts i advise you to paint them before fitting them, and also paint the interior of the speeder before fitting them, this goes for the pilot too.

i also advise pinning the scouts in place, they do tend to break off

Thanks a lot for the response. Loving the storm-trooper-esque conversion for your scouts there. Really love the shading/detailing on the empty seats too, impressive to know that was done with everything in the way. Seeing how much room is there without the scouts in on a real model it does look like even I might be able to get in there and do a decent job, nothing too enclosed that needs detail so thanks for posting those pics up too.
