Hey all!

I'm from down under Australia, and I've been floating round this forum a while now. I figured it was about time to post my own army.

I was inspired by Nick Kyme's Salamander and Fireborn novels, and have begun an army of my own. They're one of the Companies fighting on Armageddon, led by none other than Vulkan He'stan himself.

I'm afraid my photography skills leave a little to be desired, I'll do better next time! Here's some pictures:

The first squad (Tactical Squad Magma):

The Sergeant:

Flamer:

Missile Launcher:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/19072011048.jpg

I have to hand-paint every one of the Chapter icons:

WIP Captain:

WIP Chaplain:

There's a bunch of stuff in the pipeline, but don't expect anything till next Saturday, cause I'm away.

Hope you like! C&C welcome!

Salamanders! Filthy, deviant, psyker loving mutants.... ;)

Seriously though, looking pretty cool, man. I was heavily inspired by Mr. Kyme's books for my Marines Malevolent, so I know where you're coming from. Your Captain is probably my favorite, he's coming along quite well. Where's that helm from? Looks pretty sharp on him.

Keep up the great work, man.

Nice salamanders, armor color is vibrant and I'm pleased to see you've painted black skin to your sallies. Very sweet freehands! Also I like the idea behind nocturne-pattern flamer. I, too, have been thinking about using chaos bitz :) Captain's hammer looks bad-ass, but for me it's all about chaplain's crozius arcanum! SWEET.

A minor nitpick, though: I'd paint holes on the gun barrels if I was you ;) otherwise great job!

Thanks a lot you guys, encouraging to get good feedback, especially from 1000heathens himself! I love your work, man. And the helmet was actually sculpted from a Chaos Marine helmet, you know the one that kinda looks like a skull? Here's a link.

@NocturneFIN: You must mean the combi-melta on the sergeant, cause I drilled all the others. I'm lazy, what can I say? I'll get onto it though!

@Vulkan454: No problem man, I'll make a video for you guys.

Ok, so next lot of pics. Here's the second squad, Squad Sulphur:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/24092011102.jpg

You'll notice there's only nine marines. this is because I plan on ordering a multi-melta from GW online.

This squad has a lot of characterful models, so I'll give you a pic of each one.

Here's the combat squad leader:

This one I like to call Commando Marine XD:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/24092011116.jpg

This brother adheres fervently to the Imperial Creed:

Hammer dude:

And two normal guys:

And here's my AoBR Dread and (slightly modified) Captain:

The scales, Chapter icon and the little gold Crux Terminatus on the right shoulder pad are hand-sculpted.

New pics soon, not as long a wait as before, sorry!

C&C welcome as always. DS out!

These guys look great brother! Your green is gorgeous.

Loving the little details, the flames etc, very nice standard! :P

As a sallies successor chapter, I have to say, you make Vulcan proud :)

I like your freehand mate very crisp and the green is nice and warm so it fits well with the Salamander theme. Try placing a sheet of white paper just behind the figure when you are taking pictures it will help to show the natural colour of your work and give a less confusing back drop helping the eye to focus more naturaly.

Keep up the good work. :P

Thankyou, my brothers, for your most generous complements.

@Asrech: Which successor Chapter would this be? I don't recall any info on Salamander successors...

@Sioka: Thanks for the tip, and I'd just like to say, I love your work!

Thanks for the feedback guys, really encouraging!

So, some new pictures (pretty pictures...). First, I got some paint on the new Tac squad:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011216.jpg

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011217.jpg

I've almost finished the Chaplain, just need to paint his backpack and base:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011221.jpg

I built a Sternguard squad from plastic parts I had loose:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011222.jpg

The Sergeant I got from a speed painting comp in Games Day AU. He was actually the model I was painting... I think they were all defective models, cause they had massive bubbles that I had to fill up when I got home.

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011225.jpg

Combi-flamer guy:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011226.jpg

Combi-melta guy:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011227.jpg

Bolter/pistol guy:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011228.jpg

I'm not sure what to give this guy, in the sense of combi-weapon or no. What do you guys think?

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011229.jpg

Oh, and here's a side project I'm working on. I'm putting together some Angry Marines from spare parts:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011230.jpg

Afro double-fist guy:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011231.jpg

F :D k you Assault Marine:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011233.jpg

I realise the undercoated models don't show up very well in the photos. I'll have some more when they have paint on them.

And here's a little something I picked up at Games Day:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/23102011220.jpg

Hope you enjoyed, C&C welcome as always! Smith out!

.....Been away for a while...... real life as it often does got in the way of hobby. But I'm back, and with pretty pictures!

So, here are some newly painted figs. First off, the newest additions to Tac Squad Sulphur. Only the MK VI guy is done, the others still need details.

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/12112011248.jpg

Captain got some greens:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/10122011313.jpg

And He'Stan's got himself plenty of lovin'. the metals are all NMM:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/10122011317.jpg

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/10122011319.jpg

I've also painted that Angry Marine..... I hope he's not too offensive:

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/12112011246.jpg

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx225/Loken48/Bolter%20and%20Chainsword%20blog%20pics/12112011247.jpg

Made myself a nice plastic Librarian outta spare parts. He's pretty simple, but I'll give a nice base and pimpin' paint job to spice him up a bit:

I hope you guys enjoyed!! I must return to the forge to replenish Vulkan's forces! I shall return! C&C welcome, as always.

Kidding! Great work man! They really have a lot of character and the green really pops. Cannot wait to see the finished Chaplin!

One minor finnikle though: That Librarian's force weapon looks just a tad too Chaos-y for my tastes. You did a great job disguising the head, but the sword just looks... corroded and evil. As you know, the Salamanders are all about crafting their stuff perfectly, so one of their librarians going into battle with a nasty sword just doesn't seem like them. A minor complaint though and I re-emphasize how much I love your work!

Marshal, I appreciate your critiscism, as every comment helps! The reason I used that weapon was because in my opinion, as each force weapon is unique, and Salamander ones even more so, I thought the slightly archaic look would suit them. As everything that comes from Nocturnean forges is a beautiful work of art and highly individual, I feel that one or two "Chaos" looking weapons helps add flavour. If anyone else agrees with Marshal, let me know, I may have gotten everything completely wrong! Thanks again, Marshal.
