Call of Chaos

I was orignaly going to make the unit arm with Close Combat weapon, but struggle to find the parts to convert the models.  But it does allow me even more models if I want to go ahead & use the Imperial Guard army as I still plan on a Chaos guard army in the future & more so after seen Damien Pedley's Steel Legion army that on display that Warhammer World (see facebook page).

 

I should be getting the other models next week when I have some money.

I just started painting the Rhino yesterday, while I was also painting up Ferrus Primarch of the X Legion for a friend (family give him this as his Christmas present).
I still got a lot to add & a lot of battle damnge to do.  Right now I'm going to also try some of the dry paints over the Typhus Corrosion.

 

I've still to get Xarl converted.  I know I got a Seth model kicking about, so have a look for that during the Christmas holidays.  As I'm still find lots in boxies since moving house.  During the week there I found a lot of Limited ed GW models I though I'd loss & also my 2nd ed Chaos Dreadnought that been in my IW army since they started back in 2001.  The Metal Chaos Dreadnought current being painted & should be in a future update.
Also found a Baneblade as well that I bought back in 2007.  Going to end up painting this for my Iron Warriors, other wise it never going to get painted.

I use the other camera that I'd use for the Champion model for the Warhammer World brotherhood of the brush.  I've really enjoy converting the model & he done pretty well in my game last week where he was in combat with Vulken, but was taken out in return by the Salamander Captain.

 

With Saturday being the start of my two week holiday during the Christmas time.  I'm going to be converting my new Dark Apstole (Forge-Chaplain) conversion during the weekend & also get my Dreadnought ready for painting on the 24th Decemeber.  I'm still working out idea for the Warpsmith theme for the new Dreadnought.

 

I'm also going to convert some of the Fallen Angels models during the weekend

I was orignaly hoping on theme the Dreadnought around the Warpsmith.  But due to time & money, ment I had to make due.  However this will give me even more time to plan out the conversion for the future Warpsmith Dreadnought & hopeful my friends rememeber to bring some spure to let me see kits like the Ork Killer kans.  Same with the left arm, this was due to lack of money.  But I'll be getting the left arm sorted over the holidays.

 

Also it mean adding more cool models to my Iron Warriors

I'm looking forward to painting the new Iron Warrior Dreadnought tomorrow.  I said before I like to have the 23rd & 24th Decemeber toward my own hobby/models.

I spent yesterday painting the 2nd ed Metal Chaos Dreadnought model.  The model sat paint strip for a good few years, as said orignaly being part of my Iron Warriors when I started them around this time back in 2001

I will be adding this to my Iron Warriors & it will be converted to tie in with the current Chaos look.  Already got a lot of idea for this, just need to see what money I get during the Christmas holidays.  Fail that, I am down in Nottingham for Throne of Skulls March & can always pick up this great model.

 

Also with the release of the new Kill team rules during the weekend & enjoy my games with the Night Lords - Talos & First Claw.  I'm going ahead & converting up a Kill team for my Iron Warriors.  Want to have this unit sort of like the ARC troopers from Star Wars during the Clone Wars era & looking that Azog & the Gundabad orcs from the hobbit.  Or think of it like Honsou when he led his company in Storm of Iron, scouting out the Fortress along with a memeber from Forrix Company.
Right now the list for my Kill team somthing like -

• Champion Azog Vannuk w/Power Weapon
• Chosen Golg Valax w/Melta, Ignore Cover (Weapon Specialist)
• Chosen Wolffe w/Autocannon, Relentless (Indomitable)
• Chosen w/Combi Flamer:  Never really use one & though be pretty cool model wise.
• Chosen Bacara w/Combi Plasma, Prefferred Enemy (Gurilla)
• Rhino w/Extra armour
• Total 200pts

Unit use for scouting ahead & marking out target or to take out bunker, etc....

 

I should be starting these right after the Call of Chaos Challenge is finish.  I'd like to try go to a Kill team event down in Warhammer World in Nottingham that some stage next year.

Just had the update all done only for my internet to fail me & close down the screen.......

 

I mange to get the Forge Chaplain painted during the 24th Decemeber, along with the Dreadnought (still waiting to place a order with FW for a Dreadnought CCW arm)

I just need to add water effect & just tidy up some parts.  I'm also going to try add the skull/smoke from the Dark Vengance Chaplain model as it add that more sinister (sp) look to the Forge Chaplain.

The Dreadnought will be on the next call of chaos update for his third & finial part.

I still got a lot to do before they are fully painted.  I've also pick up a second box of Cadain yesterday & hoping to spend some time tomorrow trying to find some Necromunda models, just help add a bit sub theme to this unit & because Necromunda models are cool, also hopeful I'll find the Seth model to finish the Xarl conversion for my Night Lords kill team.

 

Other than that.  It just the Fallen Angels, which I've just started building & will be posted soon.  Really looking forward to adding the Fallen Angels to my army after the release of the Cypher Dateslate on Christmas day.

 

Speaking of Fallen & Cypher.

 

A while back I posted a Cypher conversion I done, insspired by a brillaint Fallen Angels army that Throne of Skulls Septemeber that was up for best army nominee.

 

When I added the Cypher model to my army I orignaly had the black power armour to tie in with the great crusade/heresy era.  However one of my friends let me see the Cypher dateslate & seem there some new background & possible why Dark Angels are in green.  As such I spent some time yesterday & to take a break from the PS3 to re-paint the Cypher conversion.

Fallen Angels

 

I always like the background story on the Fallen Angels both with codex Chaos Marines, what been said in the White Dwarf & the Fallen Angels Commander in Bloodquest.  Also White Dwarf that had a mission for the Dark Angels & Chaos Marine player to pick in WD 233.

Also year ago when 3rd ed Chaos Marines codex was release when I was a kid, I rememeber a lot of great armies that always inspired me.  One was the Thasound Sons that led to me converting Obliterators, the other was a Fallen Angels army with a Nurgle theme to it useing the old metal Dark Angels veterans robe models, when 3rd ed Codex Dark Angels where release.

The Melta arm Fallen Angel was shown a while back.  But since then I've re-painted the robes as I was not keen on the orignaly way & just after painting the Cypher conversion I'd found a way that suited my painting style.

Right now the robes have been painted as I though they would be the longest to paint & waiting on drying time with the wash & paints

 

I'm also working on some scenic base which will be added later on in the next few days.

The platic part from the Chaplain (Dark Vengance box game) going to be added to the Forge Chaplain model tomorrow once I got it undercaoted & then it just add a bit of green stuff.

 

Rest of the Call of Chaos models

 

- Xarl:  I've given up searching for the Seth (metal) model & just chosen to mail order a new Seth model which should arrive on Saturday.  So I'll get Xarl converted then.   

 

- Dreadnought:  Just place the order for the Dreadnought CCW arm from Forge World.  Just I'm not to keen on the chainsword type arm that you get with the Chaos Dreadnought.

That should arrive next week.

 

I got until next Wed to get everthing finish for the Call of Chaos.  Then after that, beside also adding to my second Ravenwing army, which is now 1500pts fully painted & getting my Iron Hands army (third version?) started.  I'll be adding some new models for Throne of Skulls March & also look into a Terminators list I commented a few updates ago, so this will give me the chose & diffrent weapons, but also just look cool gaming wise.  Alway like the idea in Storm of Iron with Forrix & his elite company, Honsou & his company useing scouting or doing mission that have no honour/glory & then Kroeger & his company who are slowy going down the path of Khorne.

Thanks for the comment geektom   As said before, I like adding sub theme to my units.  It help add that life to the models & led to great conversion, also thanks to any brillaint games that add to there theme/story.  I've always like that, for exsample the Black Legion supplment show the diffrent warbands with in the Abaddon Black Legion force like the Oath Broken.

Once again had to take photos that the painting stastion.  Any Marines bikes in the background are for my Mk2 Ravenwing army, it already that 1500pts, there going be part of a few new units to bring the army up to 1750pts.

I will be getting the base undercaoted tomorrow & the Fallen Angels models glue onto them.  I also pick up a box of Tactical Space Marines, which is going toward my Ravenwing army, but I'll be adding the ammo bags from the kit onto the Fallen Angels unit along with some extra bitz from the Grey Knights spure.

I did try converting the bat wing helmet, useing the wings from the Grave Guard kit from the Vampire Count range.  However it did not look right.  So I think I will hold off & see if Forge World will release any upgread kits in the Horus Heresy range, so this will be somthing I will go back to in the future.

 

I also have the second half of the cultist unit built hopful by the end of tomorrow & also get the Chaos Icon cut out of plasticard for the First Claw Rhino so that can also be finish.

Just a while back I posted about useing the new Typhus Corrosion to give that more warp tainted look.  I really like useing it.  Just I though add that little bit of extra effect as I am planning on bring Ferrus Draco with me when I'm down in Warhammer World for Throne of Skulls March.  That a lot of the events in Warhammer World, they hold a Legend painting comp, which allow people to (that least ToS 40k) enter into tanks, single & monster.

I also be enter the recent Warpsmith Damocles for the singles.

 

Also I'm thinking of adding both models to a 1650pts army list.  Just one of my friends is planning on running there first 40k tournament by the end of this month, which will see 7 games over the two days & 1650pts.

I'm looking that my Throne of Skulls list, but with Damocles as my HQ chose & give him the buring brand & included Ferrus Draco, just allow me try diffrent thing in the army.

Just if you'd ask me in the past.  I would stay away from Raptors & never even think of included them in my Iron Warriors or any Chaos army for that matter.  It was just down to never like the metal models that where release though out the years.

But since the Raptors where release in plastic over a year ago, they look cool.  There ton of great bitz & I enjoy useing them in a lot of conversion in my Iron Warriors force. 

 

But I'm now looking that adding a unit of Raptors just because the plastic models are cool more than anything else.

Call of Chaos - Finial update

Call of Chaos has always been great, seen other memeber brillaint conversion & painting.  Also give yourself a deadline to get a new Chaos army started or adding some new units to a current force.  For me it was to add a few units into my Iron Warriors force so I have them there & give me more chose when it come to gaming & events I attend.

 

For Call of Chaos, I chose to get the following done

I'm really happy how the unit of Fallen Angels turn out in the end.  I had always wanted to add a unit to my Iron Warriors since starting the current force back in 2011.  I think I may posted a start of a unit a while back & also trying out a Cypher conversion, but I was never keen on those models & ended up putting them to one side.

 

But after converting & painting the new Cypher back in Sept, inspired by a brillaint Fallen Angels army from Throne of Skulls Septemeber.  It give me new hope & want to give the unit of Fallen Angels another try.

 

Also one of the armies that always inspired me though out the years was back in 2000?  Was always a really cool Fallen Angels army useing the old Metal Robe Dark Angels models & had a Nurgle theme to them.  Along with my friend Thasound Sons force with the Obliterators conversion.

 

So after finish this unit, I really want to try get some games in.  Going to see if my friend is still up for the 7000pts game with his Tau & Dark Angels allies & maybe make up a mission & somthing like the Fallen & Cypher worth d3+1 Vpts if he taken them out in Close combat by a DA unit?

I built this unit with Kill team on the rise & because I enjoy the Night Lord novels by Aaron along with the Iron Warriors novels by Graham McNeill.

I though it would be great & somthing a little diffrent.  The aim with this unit was to try some of the Games Workshop effect paints.  For exsample the crack earth paint has been brillaint & somthing I will try on a future army.  Then trying out the GW blood paint & diffrent way for diffrent effects, base this from Void Stalker when Talos & the Night Lords are going though a Imperial city & slaughter all before them.

Next for the Iron Warriors

 

I'm always adding new models to my Iron Warriors force ether for a event/tournament, due to thinking how cool a model is & want to add it to my force.

So the next few things I got planned in the near future,

 

- Raptors:  I bought a box set last week.  Right now I'm currently looking that the Forge World Destroyer units for idea toward conversion

 

- Kill team:  I'm still gather parts before I get my IW Kill team force done.  After playing a few games & seen the new rules, I want to try get more games of Kill team in the future & would also like to attend a Kill team event in Warhammer World in the near future.  Also I'm taken Chose so I got a bit more chose on the conversion side of things.

 

- Throne of Skulls March:  There a few new models I want to get converted for the event.

Quick update

 

My friend ran there first 40k tournament last weekend that 1650pts & 7 games during Saturday & Sunday.  Was a really great event & I though it would be great to included Warpsmith Damocles as my main HQ (Warlord) just due to enjoy converting & painting the model & I also included Vindicator Ferrus Draco with Daemonic Possessed & Seige shield.
Really enjoy use the army during the event & each unit has gain more to there story thanks to the brillaint games they fought.

 

I ended up gaming against - Grey Knights, Marines (Bikers), Orks, Nurgle Marines (Chris I fought during DWARF July & Novemeber events), Nurgle Marines, Nurgle Marines & re-match against the Orks in the last round.

I'm going to be adding trophies base on Chris Nurgle army.  Also on the Ork game due to how really tactical the game was & also the Nurgle army where we ended up with a draw (8pts) & even if it went to turn 6 &/or 7 it was a really hard call with 2x IW & Warpsmith Damocles vs 3x Nurgle Marines, Heldrake vs Heldrake & Obliterators fire fight vs Forge fiend that was immobile but after that kept make ever 5+ Inv save & it will not die roll!!!

Sadily during the event, some of my models got broken.  So just trying to get them fix right now.  Just things like the clear platic rods that I use for the Servo Skulls or some trophies.  Just due to dice hitting of the models by mistake

While the Warsmith (Daemon Prince) Abhorred Riddick is there due to removing static grass from the base & replace it with the Games Workshop turft grass.

I'm wanting to show the Forge Fiend having the Obliterator virus, so hopeful finish green stuff the obliterator style flesh on the guns/arms.  As said before, I just want to have each model diffrent & each with it own theme.  So hopeful have the green stuff finish tomorrow & get it ready for undercaoting over the next few days.

 

Also once I have money by the end of the week - I'm going to get a few new models built for Throne of Skulls March event down in Warhammer World, I'm also hoping to buy the Legion Basilisk model when I am down in Nottingham for the ToS event in March. 

I'm also hoping on starting the Raptor unit if one of my friends rememeber to bring some parts I need for the conversion.

I spent yesterday painting the Forge Fiend model while recovering from the Trivium & Killswitch Engage gig (right now the best gig I been to!) I went to on Tuesday in Glasgow.

I still got parts to finish off before the Forge Fiend is fully painted.  I got to add highlight to the gold.  Add battle damnge to the Black Templars & not so much blood, but blood on the Black Templars, base & see from there.

 

Also after painting the Forge Fiend, I'm going to re-paint the engines part on my other Forge Fiend & Maulier (sp?) Fiend models as I found the way I painted it on the Forge Fiend shown on this update help break up the model a bit.

 

Other than that.  If my friend rememeber to bring those parts, I'll hopeful be able to start getting the Raptors unit started soon!!

I've just to finish the left knee pad.  I try a few diffrent idea but nothing was looking right, so I will be painting the Chaos star icon as seen on the right shoulder pads on my Iron Warriors units
It been good re-painting the metal Chaos Dreadnought, as said before I had this Dreadnought model since I started my Iron Warriors back in 2001 & took part in my first event - Conflict Scotland.

 

I've also recently order the metal Warsmith model

While I am not keen on metal models.  I'm unsure how long model like the Warsmith will be around & if they will get cast in finecast, plastic or resin in the future.  So though I'd pick him up & the model should arrive on Saturday.  Just getting this model for painting/display more than anything else.

Warlord Marker

Not sure about everone else.  But I do forget from time to time about my warlord trait, from writen it down on spare bit of paper or useing dice.  So I though just to help me out a bit & also it would be cooler.  Was to make Marker - Servo Skulls - 1 to 6 & model them around them around Personial (sp?) & the Chaos traits since they are the only once I tend to use in my games.

So here, the dead Space Marine will be No1 for both traits, middile is No6 from the tables.

 

So aim to get these ready soon with Throne of Skulls March next month.  Should hopeful get the Warlord Marker finish on Saturday or that least the once I have already shown here.

Just a quick update.  I mange to get a small amount of painting time this week for the first memeber of the Raptors unit I will be adding to my Iron Warriors

As said in the last update on Raptors, in the past this was a unit I would never though of adding to my army as I was never to keen on the models.  But since the codex update back in 2012, we saw what I think is a brillaint plastic kit for Raptors & during that time I been useing a lot of parts toward conversion in my Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company force.

The Raptor almost finish.  I'm going to re-paint the jump pack for the burnt effect & I think I will use the painting guide shown on today Games Workshop - White Dwarf What new today, for the Imperial Knight.

Update

 

Today saw the release of the new Knight kit from Games Workshop & it really cool.  Since seen the Knight model in the weekly White Dwarf & Games Workshop web site, also re-reading Storm of Iron, I want to add this to my Iron Warriors .

 

I heard my Chaos can take it as a allies chose or even then until the codex come out, all my friends/oppents are more than happy for me to use the model in my army.  Pretty much when the Knight was shown last week, my friends never ask me if I was buying the model, they ask me how was I going to convert the model.  They know me & know me as a oppent, none have any issiue.  Also end of the day it always down to cool models.

I bought the Chaos War-Shrine kit as well today when a few people where saying about a great conversion over on facebook that was posted during the day.

 

The Knight model really great to build, think it taken two hour in all to build the main kit.  I'm keeping the model apart, beside making some parts of the model easyer to paint, it also just to carry the model to my local GW & gaming club.  I will just need to pin the shoulder pads so they are easyer to remove.

 

I still got a few bits to add onto the Knight before he ready for painting on Wednesday & going sculpt the obliterator style flesh.  Try get the model that least base coated for a game I have on Thursday that my local wargaming club.
