I missed out on seeing the Armies on Parade entries and was gutted that I missed the opportunity to see your models up close.

Love the army and its probably the best IW i've seen and its often being close to encouraging me to start my own wardband of IW.

 

The board is also exceptionally cool and is a brilliant backdrop for an equally brilliant army.

Thanks. It was hard to get in to see most of the Armies on Parade display like Golden Daemon entry. I miss out on the whole Golden Daemon models & would really like to see them like the Sword winner Vampire to DaemonPrinceDargor heresy Emperor Children models. Like wise as said trying to take photos of them was hard as well with out people bump into to you so most photos turn out blurry :(

 

But if people want to see the force in the flesh I will be down in Nottingham for Throne of Skulls October & Novemeber.

I'm going from Scotland to Nottingham & your going from England to Scotland :P It is worth it, as said past five years, while I did not enjoy 2007 (nothing to do with the event), it really been from 2008 onword & everone I talk to have said this year has been there favrout. Just for me allow me time to talk to people I not seen, etc...

 

Codex - Sorry while I did read some of it, I did not get much time due to those who did not make the retail rush started to swarm around. So I only got to see the army list area for Daemon Prince, Chaos Marines & Obliterators - Obliterators no matter what the fourm say on the rumour's they DO HAVE POWER FIST!!!!!! I maybe tired but I can rememeber 10 out of 11 thing's & when it come to somthing like Chaos I make sure I know what to exspect on new release :D

 

On another note.

 

Iron Warriors wise

 

Vindcators was recently bought. Basicly while I was waiting for Chaos Marines to be release since the rumour stage for past two months. I start work on my Blood Angels as well as my Armies on Parade board. To be honsty all this year I been more in a "chaos" frame of mind when it came to the hobby where all I ever wanted to do was to add more stuff to my Iron Warriors.

So just while I enjoy painting my Blood Angels force & collecting them. Though be best putting them on hold & use the time after Games Day to try add some stuff while I wait for the codex to be release, then when that happen focuse on Throne of Skulls.

 

So pick up the Vindcators to help bring the army to 3000pts side of the project, this will not be in my Throne of Skulls list, but as said to be part of my 3000 element & I pick up the Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon / Terrorgheist to convert into the Vindacators to give it that Chaos feel.

 

Also painting wise - My Iron Warriors force seen here have been useing the now older paints before the update, like Boltgun metal, Badab Black Wash, etc... So spent today test out the current painted on a space Chaos Marine model. Just more to see if there is any changies as some of the new/current paints have a slight change in tone. Just for me to keep collect the IW & not end up like my Mk5 which use the old GW Inks. So it went well & the Vindcators going to be the first model to be painted useing the now current paints.

 

So try get some photos of the Vindcators in the next few days as well as the test painted model along side my current IW models.

I am aim on useing the bones to go across the top of the Vindacator with the skull covering the cannon. Just to come across as dredded segien engian that there oppents would loss moral seeing. While the bones ether rep trophies or just with a bit of taint from the warp setting into the tank.

So try get some work done to this during today to get a rough idea how all this will fit together.

 

Aim to get my vindacator ready for painting next Wed in my local GW store. Apart from the dragon, I need to cut out some plasticard extra armour to tie in with my Rhino's & I also got some of the Forge World brass etch I bought a while back.

 

Then testing out the current paints to see if they'll match the now older paints I use on a spare Chaos Marine model.

Pretty happy how it turn out. Only thing is I needed to add two coat of Nule Oil on after words & then paint the highlight, where on the current models it was one coat of Badab Black & the highlight where done before this.

Pretty much as said from the start my Iron Warriors use to be painted with the old GW Inks which are no longer on sale. It why I went from Mk5 force I collected in 2008 to 2009 onto this brand new force, with the aim to add more & not worry about set paints running out. Now I only keep the inks for blood effect & face for my Iron Warriors & nothing else.

So happy to see this just for me to bring my force to 3000pts & possible more with the release of the codex soon. I'll still use my old paints like Boltgun metal for my models needed for Throne of Skulls tournament force.

As said in the post before this I still got to add bits of the Vampire Count dragon spine. Then I am check out White Dwarf 301 on Christain Bryne Vindacator for some idea & looks. Still a lot of work to be done before the model is finish & aim to spend Saturday in my local GW store just getting the model fully built. Aim a bit of tomorrow on getting some of the plasticard armour & details tomorrow.

I'd use the liqud green stuff on the dragon parts to help show that they where blending into the vindacator hull. As normal I've also added the plasticard extra armour as see on my Rhinos, this is just to show the tanks being better gear toward seige warfare, I see Iron Warriors having there tanks a bit more armour vs other Space Marines Legions/Chapter.

 

The Space Marine trophie is base on a Ultramarine. The Ultramarine will belong to the 4th Company, like my Relic Object marker & the Crusifed Ultramarine on my Rhino. I think with the release of all those cool new Chaos models, I will be looking into adding more Chapter like Blood Angels my old grudge army of the Iron Warriors & possible look into adding some base on other Chaos Marine Legions like the Black Legion or Night Lords in the future.

I also think I've got a Chaos Land Raider hidden away somewhere that was ment for my Khorne Bezerker army I was going to start back three year ago? Maybe time to get it built & added to my Iron Warriors, just with the release of the new codex there a lot I really want to add to my army.

 

On a side note when seige of castellax is release. Buy this novel. I am just over page 100. It a great novel & show diffrent aspect like the Battle for the Fang Space Marine battle novel. By this I mean we get to see some Chaos Guards point of view, Slaves & of course the Iron Warriors :D Also page 71 made me laught.

It the first time I read a novel writen by C.L. Werner, it been really good to read.

 

So hopeful have the Vindacator painted on Wed & get a update on this by the end of the week before the release of the brand new codex Chaos :D

Since the photos where taken. I finish painting the last bits of detail & have also added the Forge World Weather Powder.

 

Also during the weekend saw the release of Codex Chaos which I was really looking forward to. On the day of release I had 12 days to get my current Iron Warriors force ready to go down to Throne of Skulls October which is on the 20th & 21st October in Nottingham Warhammer World. So far I am going with what I know, but I swap my Daemon Prince for a Chaos Lord in Terminators armour who is currently being converted, just waiting on some more parts to arrive. But I have started converting with the parts I already have with a few Forge World order arrive today :D so I can get some games in with the new codex as soon as possible.

Also mange to give all my units in my army Veterans of the Long War which it really cool rule wise & just show my Iron Warriors as veterans of the heresy :)

- 2x Warpsmith: One mainly for painting & because it a cool model. The other was to see what part I could use for converting my Chaos Lord or other models. I think I might replace one of my Obliterators helmets with the one the Warpsmith has.

- Chaos Chaplin: Again I just like the model, he will be painted in Word Bearer colour so he can be use in any future chaos armies I collect.

- HelDrake: I have a local tournament the week after Throne of Skulls, this will be 1750pts & I wanted to included one of the new Daemonic units. This being one of the two chose & I have already started converting the model (see below)

- Maulerfiend: Same as the heldrake, just unsure which one I want to use in my 1750pts force. I am still working on the army list - usely have my 1500pts force & then add 250pts & help out when gaming in store/gaming club.

- Abaddon: Part to convert with the Chaos Lord & same with the Vampire Count Skeleiton.

 

Then the FW order that arrive had the Raven Guard captain, Techpriest & the Khorne Terminator Lord for the Chaos Lord.

Narach Delau - I am happy with the way he turn out. The Salamander helmet is base upon a oppent I use to battle back when I started my Iron Warriors in 2002 when getting ready for Conflict Scotland & also it help bring people focuse onto the model.

I still got a few things to paint before Narach is ready for varnish like the Chaos rune on his shoulder pad & power axe.

Update - Throne of Skulls October

 

Now it finial time to get a update after getting a fried breakfast & getting my Throne of Skulls battle report wirten up on these fourms.

 

As said a few days ago I was going down to Nottingham for the Throne of Skulls October event in Warhammer World. I was going down with what I knew along with any changies to my HQ chose like my Chaos Lord in Terminator armour who in a practise game made his Inv save vs a Grey Knight with Daemon Hammer & then on the boon chart I ended up with +1T.... only to be killed by a unit of Henchmen with flamers, I assaulted in..

Though the best story during the Throne of Skulls weekend had to be hearing about Lysander being killde by 6 Grots from Overwatch when he assaulted in & failed three armour save, the hobbiest got a award for that & it great seen this happen to Lysander (got to get ever banter in with the Iron Warriors vs Imperial Fist where you can ;) )

 

It was a really great weekend just getting to know the 6th ed rule a bit better & being able to use the brand new codex Chaos Space Marines.

I also team up Rob (Throne of Skulls Nov 2010 & April 2011 oppent), Andy (Throne of Skulls April 2011) & there friends for the bugman bar quiz which saw us win overall with that which was cool. Also my army was up for army nominee which saw some really great armies on display & those who attended the Throne of Skulls event got to vote during launch time.

Just a note (this is not ment to come across as a bad thing in anyway with this being the internet) - I hate army painter, I refuse to use this. Just a commission I had use the red & it was a nightmare both the painting & building side of things. It resulted in me having to pretty much start the Blood Angels from scratch taken time away.

 

Like wise I am not a fan of order in stuff in, for exsample I order a CD of a band I like & it did not arrive until a month & a half after ordering it. I hate waiting, tend to be if I am buying somthing I am wanting the CD, DVD, model, etc.. to be pick up on the day.

I get all my paints, brush, glues from my local GW. It a 10 min train & then 5 mins to walk from the stastion to the store & it mean I can talk to friends in store or pick up some other stuff as I look around & get idea for conversion or get a game. Also my local GW store brillaint & the manger has help me out a lot since I started going to the store in 2007 it because of himself & other that have help me improve my painting over the past few years.

Not just that but also if I run out led up to a event say the day before the event, there not much I can do. So for exsample I notice today my Black undercaot running out & I got a tournament this weekend coming, I will be going to my local Games Workshop store on Wed & can happily pick up the spray & I spend Wed (gaming night) getting my models painted for the event & talk to my friends about the Throne of Skulls event I went to during the weekend there ^_^

 

Not mean this to come across as a bad thing, just personial it why I avoid order stuff. Also I just preffer painting the models vs spray the colour onto them, lot faster for me while painting I tend to take paint out of the pot. Not to keen on the dropper type B)

 

If I am rush a normal IW can take me a hour to paint. Time is not a issue for me & painting, as said there I paint faster.

I've painted 40 Zombies in 30mins. I've also built & painted a Warrior of Chaos army the day before a tournament in the space of 5 hour as I was ask the day before that to be stand in player.

I've also built & painted 85 Space Marines in the space of 10 hours while my right eye was infected from a virus I had & having fun know I was allerigc to eye drops in general.

There also 180 Orks + 30 Grots, 9 Killer Kans & 2 Deff dreads I painted in two weeks for a friend.

There a lot more & I am well know to paint armies in a fast amount of time if I want to :)

Quick update

 

From Throne of Skulls October during the weekend just past, to Rapid Fire my wargamer club (Stirling wargamer) tournament this weekend. This mean I need to get more to my list to bring my army to 1750pts.

I am taken the list I took to Throne of Skulls but adding 250pts of extra being - Heldrake, Terminators with Veteran of the Long War! & give Lord Narach the Daemonic Axe so he'll not be attack that I1 in close combat :P Also so I can use the boon table more :D

 

Due to the house currently having work done. It ment I could only get some quick photos tonight that my painting stastion. I was spending today painting these two models that my local GW store & aim to try finish them tomorrow or that least Friday before going to Rapid Fire.

Heldrake - I still got the base to finish making which will be done tomorrow first thing. While painting side there still some wire to be painted & I am going to try mix the purple wash with the medium to really thin it down into a glaze & paint this onto the armour plates to try give a more "warp taint" feel to the model.

 

For the base - I will have a dead Templars, try to show that he has been rip apart from the Heldrake, then just case of find some spare 3rd ed 40k Ruin building I use on my IW base for this & try have some vampire count skeletion scatter about.

Terminator - He will be join the unit who act as bodyguards for Lord Narach as he deep strike down into the hart of my oppents army. I had a few pts spare & though I would add onto the unit. His arm with just a combi bolter which has been converted useing a normal bolter & some other bits.

Trophie wise, I am going to paint the Chaos Marine helmet in Word Bearer colour after Round 4 from Throne of Skulls when I fought the same oppent from round 2 during ToS April which both games being brillaint, already added Thasound Son icon from ToS April.

 

If I got time between tomorrow & Friday I will try get some finish photos. If not then it will be after Rapid Fire been during the weekend.

 

On another note, I spoke of a 3000pts challenge I was issue by friends. Once Rapid Fire is finish, I will be aim to work on this. I will be taken part in Brother Nihm "Call of Chaos" challenge to get some of these units done.

- One Maulerfiend.

- One Unit of 2x Mutilator,

- One unit of 10x Cultiest,

- Two Unit of 5x Havocs. Unsure which weapons I want to arm them with right now. I will be search my bit boxies for the old 2nd ed Missile Launcher backpack & I know I got a fair few metal Missile launcher I can paint strip. The other unit, it would be pretty cool to convert those Autocannons as a unit on there own.

 

Due to fail the last call of Chaos (back then real life really got in the way where I barely had any time & I lost my motivastion (sp) to finish my World Water army back then, painting them to a standard I did not enjoy)

I to add one more to this which will be a Chaos Sorcerer. Not sure how they are game wise. Just when I started my Iron Warriors & I shown a photo, I did have a Sorcerer in my force & he had a bit of background to my 5th Grand Company. I then made a new version of him back when codex Chaos 3.5 was release.

 

This one I will not fail as I've always kept Wed & Saturdays as days to spend time on my own models to get them painted.

 

Now I would like to bring him back & overall just be cool to convert up a Sorcerer, with the amount of new cool kits GW has release over the years.

 

On a side note, started reading Angels Exterminatus & it is a really great novel. All Iron Warriors player should pick up this novel.

Update

 

Another very quick update.

 

It happen ever time for ever event I attended. I am still painting before the event or traveling down. Last Thursday I was finish painting my Chaos Lord in Terminator armour, a new Autocannon arm Iron Warriors & the new Iron Warriors carry banner. Ten years ago before Conflict Scotland I found myself painting a Sorcerer the day before attending the event.

Since then it never feel right if your not painting before a event. Throne of Skulls saw many people painting last min or that least those that I talk to during the great weekend during the Throne of Skulls event :)

 

I got a local tournament tomorrow & Sunday held by my own wargaming club - Stirling Wargamer & I have to bring the army up to 1750pts. For this I am useing the 1500pts force I took to Throne of Skulls as said here & there on this log. Then to add some 250pts. One of the new stuff being the Heldrake, after trying this in game yesterday they are brillaint & well worth getting into your Chaos force. Like wise I have a extra Terminator with Combi Bolter & then my Lord get the Daemonic Axe which like the heldrake was brillaint, led to Lord Narach turning into a Daemon Prince in yesterday game :(

Next models to arrive in the army log in the next few days.

 

Then after this I am hope on getting a Mauler Fiend model finish building wise & get this ready for painting next week. Like wise I have one new Combi Plasma Terminator to make, last Thursday while getting ready for Throne of Skulls October, one of the Terminators have broken apart, lucky I had a fully painted Terminators spare (last Ed my army had 2x 4 Terminators units, new codex I have one with 4 Terminators & another with 3, so one less Terminator). But this one was broken beyound fixing & I'll be making a replacment for him.

 

So get these done before I make a start on the Call of Chaos challenge that Brother Nihm is running :blink:

Update

 

Small update tonight, but there more happen over the next few days.... lot more for the 3000pts side of the "hobby challenge".

 

First up. After reading the Angels Exterminatus, the new Heresy novel I got a few week ago. I converted up a Apothercary Iron Warrior for my force. Also useing the codex Chaos Space Marine cover for the pose look.

The Raven Guard helmet will be base on my game against my friend David back in Feb time which I already link a few pagies back?

 

White background (A4 paper) is being use due to not being able to find the blue paper I usely have when taken photos. As said in the last update with the Heldrake some work was being done in the house & only finish yesterday.

Just I view the Chaos Legions still having some Apothercary or that least lost there gear. Also it just ment a really cool conversion more than anything else which has & always will be the main part of the hobby for me.

I am still waiting on the Forge World Tech Priest I order during the weekend to arrive. Just for the Servo arm's. In bigger games I can always "Count as" Fabius Bile.

 

Also during a tournament I went to during the weekend there, John kindly got a photo of my heldrake model

It was the first time useing the Heldrake & I was really impress gaming wise with how much damnge it can do. Like wise I really enjoy converting & painting the heldrake model. I recently bought another one to be part of my 3000pts force & aim to try out diffrent idea for conversion. But that will wait until tomorrow night to get built.

The battle report is up, but I still to get around to type round 4, 5 & 6 of the event. Just this week has been really really busy, but I will try get around to this hopeful tomorrow night.

I am starting off with painting the Mauler Fiend model. Photo taken in my own room yesterday as work was finish in the home. I really enjoy building the Malier Fiend model & be nice to use this in a 3000pts game me & David are arrange for the end of this month!

The Heldrake looks soooooo much better with it's wings positioned in this manner.

Now it has a sweeping, predatorial look which really suits the fluff. ^_^

 

The blue cabling running along its neck stands out really well.

As always, nicely done.

 

Looking forward to seeing you paint the Fiend.
