Conquer the universe! Pre-heresy space marines.

Recommended Posts

So I bought a bunch of forge world stuff lately, and I am going to do a small force of crusade era marines. I am probably going to do them as Imperial Fists and because of that I've painted up a test model.

The stuff I have for the army so far are:

-A land raider proteus.

-A contemptor dreadnought.

a gw 2nd ed. landspeeder.

a bunch of FW marines.

And then the plan is to finish my Terminator project and add a squad or two of termies too.

Well on to the pics!

Took me around 2 hours to paint him, and this is the way I figure I'll paint the entire force.

So what do you guys think??

Reminds me of a yellow Cylon.

I like it. The armour looks really retro. You should get the newer marine pointing at him "Ha Ha, Look at his armour... Its like 10,000 years old, :) phtttt"

I love the chipping, I can't wait to see more

Looks good, I might recommend making your base/shade just a TOUCH darker (or a bit more orange) to make it pop; the yellow seems to kind of flatten itself and makes the shading looks a bit more like oil stains; otherwise very nice.

I like it!!! An entire force painted like that'll be sweet.

Cheers,

Jono

Thanks, I hope it will

Good stuff! Got a nice yellow and he looks good and beat up like he's been in the crusade.

Looking forward to more!

Thanks, that was what I was trying to portray, as there's a lot of clean IF armies out there.

Very nice! Did you use a sponge to get the worn effect?

Thanks, and yes I did :cuss It's a great and easy technique.

Thanks, my google foo tells me that a cylon is a robot of sorts, from battlestar galactica ?? I don't really know much about that show :P But I can promise there'll be more :tu:

That's looking awesome.

Will be good to see some inspiration here, as I'm doing the same but during the heresy.

Thanks, I'd love to see what you've done so please throw me a link if you got a thread.

Looks great. The weathering is superb! My one nitpick is there is a bit of yellow that has jumped onto the piping on his backpack!

Thanks, yeah I can see I missed that spot, but it will get corrected.

Hey, Alex here, he's looking realy nice, just a question, how'd you do the weathering? must of taken a while!

Hey Alex, thanks :D And no, it was actually done in about 15 minutes ;) It's just chardon granite sponged on, and then the chips have had a highlight with a light yellow.

If the rest of the force is up to the same standard as the first guy this army should look awesome. ;)

Thanks dude, I certainly plan to make the rest to at least this standard ;) This test model only took 2 hours to paint including basecoating and basing, But I plan on doing a bit more to individualize them like some heraldry and squad markings, great company markings and such things :)

Really nice, the yellow looks great as does the weathering.

Shame the legs on the Mk2 marines are so skinny though :/ kinda puts me off getting some - I'll have to compensate with Mk3 and 4!

Very, very nice looking model.

I really like the "been in battle" look and it should make the army really stand out. A couple of questions for you:

1) How did you do your yellow?

2) Is the Fist icon green stuffed?

Looking forward to seeing much more.

Thanks

The recipe is:

airbrush with tausept ochre, mix vallejo flat yellow in for first senital highlight followed by pure flat yellow and then flat yellow with a bit of white. then it have got a thin glaze of vallejo transparent yellow to tint it a bit and then som edge highligts in flat yellow

the fist is from the fw kit here http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-4000...ICON-PACKS.html and is the one from the round icon

Abselutely fantastic.
