[Captain Semper]

I, Captain Semper of the Dark Angels, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least 3 Ravenwing bikes, 1 attack bike, 1 drop pod and 1 Deimos Rhino on or before the 31st of March, 2012. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done.

So it starts... This thread will be the WIP required for the LPC so there will be, ermmm... WIP pics in it! However since my vow aims to complete the first phase of my Consecrators' army the final products will also be posted in my Consecrators thread.

the vow contains:

3 bikes - COMPLETED - 31 JAN 2012
1 attack bike - COMPLETED - 21 JAN 2012
1 Rhino (Deimos pattern) - for those that follow my Consecrators thread it will be the transport for Tactical squad 2 - COMPLETED - 09 FEB 2012
1 Drop Pod - the "transport" for the Company Vets - COMPLETED - 11 JAN 2012

Na, tanks are easy, I just bung paint on and hide all my mistakes behind washes I really don't enjoy painting bikes so good luck to you

Ok, first update.

I'm less than happy of how it turns out... I'm too conscious of time and my work is less than my best.

Thx Tengo - bottom line is I seriously thinking of scrapping it... I'll give it another shot but the primer really ruined it for me... (used Humbrol's satin spray).

Don't scrap that! That looks great. if you're not 100% happy with it, apply your lessons on the next. This way, you have one more painted drop pod then you would otherwise.

I think that the satin spray gives it a nice tone, I'd say it's better than any GW primer.

There would be many people who would be more than happy if their drop pods came out like that, me included!

I agree with the others on this one Semper. Judging on the photo's you have given us, I really can't point out any flaws at all. You have managed to do perfect line work on the outside, and I really like the extra detail on the inside trimmings. I too tend to be very self critical, but I think you have done really well with this one.

Well guys, thx for your support. The reason that I'm unhappy with it is the primer and the uneven highlighting... However given this is part of the vow and the limited time that I have available for painting, I will not scrap it. I really never thought the Humbrol satin black and the GW undercoat black will be so different - to the point that the brush lines show (if you look at it with a naked eye). Thankfully the pics take the worst part of the contrast away.

I will see this one through.

Highlighting should be uneven anyway, when was the last time you saw (sun)light naturally highlight something evenly?

This looks great ! You shouldn't be unhappy - highlights are really good and I like the overall look.

I'd tell you not be down on yourself,but I feel the same way. I just wished my pods look that nice. Oh well, wishful thinking
