Rise of Chaos

Recommended Posts

I, Dark Apostle Thirst of the Homegrown Rules forum, do so vow on the Chaos God's occassional handshake, the Emperor's wheelchair, Angron's angry slam, Aerion the Faithful's artwork, and also Pulse's, the ramen noodles I just ate AND the LPC itself, to paint two most unholy Word Bearers (one of which shall bear a meltagun with the intention of roasting tyranid, ork, and eldar), two marines of the Sons of Malice (one of which shall bear the Mark of Nurgle Desecrated), two Red Corsairs (one of which shall bear a bolter, and so will the other one), one Alpha Legionaire (who shall bear a heavy bolter, because it's loud and obvious), and Former Chapter Master Deinos of the Word Bearers, now Battle-Brother Deinos of the Sons of Malice (who shall bear Homegrown Rules), and finally two Thousand Sons (who shall count-as regular Chaos Marines, and are two marines, not two thousand, despite the misleading wording). Should I fail, nothing will happen, however do not be surprised if the sound of palm meeting forehead will echo throughout the forum, and a banner of shame appears myseriously in my signature.

That is all.

First up is my PIP Word Bearers, who were actually constructed and basecoated before the challenge, but I didn't start painting them until after I made that post. Here's where they stand now -

Meltagunner

Bolter guy

As for the rest of the squad, well...

gallery_51290_5493_585602.jpg

Except for the icon of Nurgle Desecrated (counts-as Undivided). This is very WIP at the moment, but the base of what I'm intending is done

Now, does anyone remember Chapter Master Deinos of the Burning Hands? This is all the progress I have thus far, moving his leg into a very leaning forward pose. I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to fix the front of the leg, and that foot is merely a placeholder for a better one

gallery_51290_5493_836640.jpg

I do have quite a bit intended for Deinos...

And finally, obligatory xenos titan photo

Sap - Hehe, sorry but Skaven aren't my favorite, though fur does come naturally :)

Grim - Thanks, same to you :)

Starting with the Word Bearers. My meltagunner turned out to be a mess. I just saw the silver on his mouththing and the Ogryn flesh wash on the horns was less than successful :P Otherwise, he did well.

This one turned out much better, however, but still working on his bolter. When that's done, I'll be done with him

gallery_51290_5493_152467.jpg

First Thousand Son. He's intended to be the bog-standard, rubric marine, hence his fairly boring pose

gallery_51290_5493_126405.jpg

This one, however, will be the unit champ for whatever I run this squad as, whether as a tactical or Thousand Son squad. His pose will look a lot better once he actually gets his arms

My Alpha Legionare and two Sons of Malice. Same thing with pose, they'll look better when I'm done painting them and they get their arms

Thanks for viewing, any CnC welcome ^_^

EDIT: Accidentally posted the same picture twice, woops :)

Kol - :P And no, I did not steal my furry xenos titan from anywhere, least of all these... Thundercats. What manner of heresy are these Thundercats that you speak of? :P

Tanith - Thanks :P

Well, I'm changing my vow and replacing Deinos with three Wraiths of Darkness. I'll officialize it in the LPC thread.

The rest, however, are done. Bit of fluff for these guys, as to why Sons of Malice, Red Corsairs, Thousand Sons, and Word Bearers are all in the same squad

Bruthout and Krinte came to the Sons of Malice together, from the Night Lords. They were always viewed as outsiders and when Bruthout began developing mutations he was exiled. Krinte joined him the second it happened, and negotiated a return if they could reverse the mutations.

The pair wandered through the Eye of Terror until they came across Dark Apostle Thirst, who was negotiating a deal with a Red Corsair warlord at the time. They offered their services as veterans, if the Dark Apostle could reverse the creeping mutation. One of the Red Corsair psykers, Valth, who was accompanying the pirate lord then offered his own services in solving Bruthout's plight. Thirst, who was seeking to extend diplomatic relations he first approached the Red Corsairs, offered to give the psychic Red Corsair some training and spells if both him and the Sons of Malice would serve under him until the mutation was undone. Valth agreed on the terms that his personal bodyguard would accompany him.

As soon as the group arrived at the Dark Apostle's battle barge, they were immediately assigned two Word Bearers and the resident Thousand Son sorceror with his rubric. The two psykers immediately collaborated to cure Bruthout, and came up with the solution of an icon of Nurgle, desecrated by the pure hate of the Son of Malice. The cloth, representing that hate, covered the icon. Slowly the cloth would grow over the icon, and as it did the mutations would dissappear. When it completely merged and engulfed the icon, the mutations would be removed from Bruthout. The icon cannot be relinquished in that time, however, otherwise the process would not only be canceled out but Nurgle would have complete claim and power over the unfurtonate Son of Malice.

This is representing near the end of the spell, where his hand is nearly normal again and his eye - blanked out white to represent his blindness - is almost back in its normal place.

gallery_51290_5493_595346.jpg

Now, I'm not particularily impressed with the white, but the skeleton is much, much beter IMHO.

The photos were a bit rushed, and done over my phone. Hopefully I'll be able to take better ones once I get back to my place. But for now, enjoy. CnC is of course welcome

EDIT: Especially CnC on how to sculpt soft armour and kneeling legs. Even for a first attempt... I'll be reviewing any tutorials I can find on that for a while
