Death Guard WIP

Recommended Posts

I am glad the Forgeworld stuff arrived today (about a week and a half from FW to Florida, so I approve) because lately I have been drilling barrels/cleaning flash from all the plastic stuff. The vehicles are base-coated black and ready to be painted. Gotta get some leftover flash from the bikes, and I should be able to start base-coating this weekend weather permitting. It's very humid lately. Apologies in advance for bad pictures. I'm just rushing and doing a lot at the moment so they will have to do.

I think this guy is really cool looking, he is my favorite rank-and-file.

Next week I should be posting painted stuff, hopefully. Keep an eye out here, I love encouragement.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.

So last night after I posted the FW bitz pictures, I decided to crank out Captain Aarvos real fast. He still needs a lot of work and since he is the test model for the whole color scheme, it's safe to say his total completion progress is about 60%. I learned a few things about custom rust wash.

4 drops of water

1 drop of Khemri Brown

1 drop of Mechrite Red

1 drop of Sunburst Yellow

Takes about 2 coats (obviously wait for the first to dry completely). Use just like any other wash. I will be using this on all 6 of my vehicles, and the bikers. My only big decision is whether or not to use Badab Black on all the metal colored parts to get that realistic look before going through with the rust. Ehhh I just don't know. Probably not, since I already did it without the black wash on the test mini.

The only problem is that it's very light. Not necessarily a bad thing, but just make sure your shade your minis before applying the rust. An example I have is I didn't shade Aarvos' armor before applying the rust. I got the effect I wanted, but the armor is too light. I will go back and fix it, but that's why this is the test model, right? Sorry for bad pics, I present to you Captain Aarvos:

I just realized that this is so fast to paint, I will easily have it all done by the big tournament soon!

All finished. Well, it was done earlier this afternoon but I've been very busy and unable to post the quick cell pics. Sorry for the bad quality photos. Vehicles are not my strong point, but they're dead first turn anyways so I always focus on my troops more. ;)

Like I said, vow complete. ;) and a little more. I usually try to speed paint an army every month to sell, but I think these guys will stick around..

This is insane! I'll always cite you for a reference to speed painting. My personal favorite is your dreadnought, particularly its banner and those guy's left-overs hanging down from it. I also love the combination of purple and ... this Catachan Green-like tone; it's very Nurgley to me.

So, Yeah, you did it! Good on you!

I've always wanted Chaos. It's just now I can't decide between Red Corsairs, Night Lords, Khorne or Nurgle. I think I'll take a note from Ash Dragon and just build up my own Black Crusade. Or would it be a Red Crusade since I want it coming out of the Maelstrom?
