Another little update. Body is done. :)

Pics -

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000722_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000723_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000724_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000725_close.jpg

So all that remains is the back banner and banner decorations. I'm just toing and froing over banner colours.

Should I go with this?

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/...726_option1.gif

with the Chapter badge in Red - with a skull or some other honour in the black field in the lower corner (its a raised area on the banner).

Or this?

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/...726_option2.gif

with the Chapter badge in White.

Personally I like #2 - but as you've already used a lot of red on your model, why not change the red to DA green?

Cheers

I

Hmmm. So this?

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000726_option3.gif

:)

This really shouldn't be this difficult a decision. Gah.

Disagree. Go with the first one. The robe gives you the red. You need the white - it's 4th Company after all. White banner makes red robe a striking contrast. A red banner will make people think: hmmm, red robes, red banner, BA succcessor? just kidding mate, just kidding! But I do like the white better. Whatever you choose I'm sure the execution will save the day regardless! :)

Ninja'd by your green version... Still: white!

Sorry for the long gap between this and my last update. Real Life... that should be all that needs saying.

Anyway, just another quick update.

I decided to go with option 1 for the banner colours (see above).

And heres how its looking thus far.

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000731_close.jpg

...and a very rough idea how it will look on the man himself.

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000728_close.jpg

Not much left to do now, I'd say I'm about 90% done now.

So... 95% done. :D Just the basing to be done. ;)

And some pics...

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000734.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000735.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000736.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000737.jpg

And a close up on the honour marking on his banner.

(God that close up shows that there are some serious touch ups needed )

So, a few touch ups, a little basing, and I'm done. :woot:

This is seriously nice! I think the banner and the red robes are a very striking combo! Well done MD! The chequers rock!

So the base, urban? I personally like the city fight look - somehow it's more real than grassland... Personal taste here of course! What's your take?

Thanks, I'm really glad I went with the Company markings for the banner too (the fact that C:AoD happens to note that Captain's/Master's banners incorporate their Company Heraldry also played a big part there :P), and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

I go with a kind of desert tundra look, its pretty simple but I think it looks quite effective.

If I was to do a new army I'd quite like to try urban wasteland style bases, it'd be abit much to redo my DA though (a couple of hundred bases for the infantry alone ^_^).

Edit - I should start on the basing tomorrow (meaning I should be done sometime tomorrow :D). I would have done it today, but I promised my wife we'd spend some time together and she takes priority over hobby stuff (I'm sure all you non-single men will understand the reasoning behind that).

Drumroll please...

Vow completed! :(

And here he is in all his finished glory... Master Baradiel, Company Master of the 4th, Master of the Hidden Mysteries...

First up a detail shot of the honour marking on his banner.

And a series of all around shots.

Chalk another one up as done.

Great job! Congratulations on Your vow completion, Brother!

Awesome mini, to bad that it came only in USA in special limited "DA Battleforce", so now it is hard to get it; and the model reaches shocking prices like 65,00 EUR (eBay)...

But, one day I'll get it; I just have too...

Congratulations MadDoc - It was a real joy to follow this thread! Unfortunately I can't see the pics now as I'm at work so I'll have the pleasure to see them later tonight!

A worthy leader for the 4th Company!!!

EDIT: Yeap! looks great! very nice basing, it complements the figure without stealing the focus away! Congrats once again MadDoc!

Congratulations MadDoc! No disrespect to the rest of my battle brothers, but I think this so far is our best looking model, if not one of the best! The icon on top of the banner looks perfect, almost as if you cut it from rock yourself to mount up there. And the checkered pattern just seals the deal.

Thank you all for the compliments, always nice to hear that your efforts have turned out well.

@Brother Kovash - There are some excellent examples of the painters/modellers art here in the DA subforum, particularly for this years LPC, and to be compared favourably to them is extremely high praise indeed. Thank you.

I can't have a Master without his Command Squad and in that spirit, I've been doing alittle work towards remedying that...

I know exactly how you feel! :(

The conversion looks ace! how did you do the "4"? is it green stuff or something more esoteric?
