Yes, very nice. I especially like the one with souls trying to escape. . . I'll think about it.

We are iron. We are the gauntlet cast in challenge. We are the hand that holds up the Imperium, the hand that folds into a fist when its enemies threaten. We cannot be bargained with. We cannot be reasoned with. We don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And we absolutely will not stop until you are dead.

Sadly, they looks more Battle than 40k. But I think I could use some for good effects :-)

The rope and Ultra medallions are a solid piece of the sculpt, right? They're not separate?

SM chainswords are powered by a mixture of promethium, punching, bacon and tears of a thousand Eldar women, who were then liquefied into a paste and mixed into the fuel too, for good measure.

I think the sculpts are pretty good, but having a medallion on each of them... I think it kind of takes away from the distinction the medallion should give.

Robes and purity seals etc. are cool, but I don't put them on all my minis- just the ones who deserve it

nice sculpts but whats the roman numeral "6" for? Since the icon on the sword is a "ultra" symbol wouldn't the number be 13 to represent the 13 legion the Ultramarines? I like them dont get me wrong. I'm just curious to the symbology behind the make...

I like them. A Version without the Omega :(, would have been nice and the handle looks a bit long, but very nice.

Some Black Templar or Imperial Fist stuff next (Both Cross and Fists are not copyrighted by GW either)?

Maybe I'm wrong, it does happen from time to time, but they just look... Wrong.

The grip on the hilt looks far too long to belong to a Gladius-style short blade; in fact if you take the pictures as "gospel" then from between the pommel and the guard the grip is over half the length of the blade.
" They made you to be untouched by God or mortal. As I cannot kill you, so I curse you, not with death but with life.

I curse you - with the pain of ten thousand days in the Dark Place, with the life's blood of a mage's sacrifice, with Death's authority held in my hands.

I curse you, and I strike your name from history, stripped of arrogance and pride, empty of the self you once knew, gutted of all you are. I take your name and all you have won by the strength of your hand. I curse you for eternity, to find only darkness where once you knew your own face.

And I dub you the Ragged Man."

I think the 'wrongness' of the look is the gap between the grip and the start of the blade, that area where the sword itself is little more than a slim bar, but covered over with the ropes and symbols. They don't look sturdy or realistic.

Y'know I didn't even notice that in my obsession with the length of the grip but you're right, that also destroys the aesthetic of a "real" and functioning blade.

But the idea of plastic weapons with energy fields around them doesn't destroy the feel of a "real and functioning" blade? :(

You, sirrah, need to be introduced to Terrence.

If you consider that power weapons are possible, as we all do because we are that kind of people, then I still expect certain thing in the design of a blade and one of those is common sense ;)

These look way too stubby and cartoony for my tastes. Not to mention pommels that are as long as the blades almost.

There is no hope, and each passing day merely prolongs the suffering.
Let it all end.

Let it all end.

Let it all end...

It would be good to see a marine hand next to it to judge it.

When putting the sword into a marines hands wouldn't you be cutting the handle anyway? So then just cut of a bit more when you attach the bottom part. Or am I attaching weapons wrong?

This. But the gap between the blade and the hilt, plus the UM symbols, detracts from an otherwise good cast. Those chaos shoulder pads look pretty awesome as well.

If you want a gladius and don't want to get it from some other means then these should work

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the c&c. We are always very interested in the feedback people at the interwebz give us, so your opinions are priceless.

If you were to design an ideal Gladius, what would it look like? What would the proportions be? Would you prefer it did not have any symbols or seals?
Any and all feedback is very welcome, as we are seriously considering releasing another set of these.

Cheers,

Pawel

Basically, you need to take a look at the real examples of the weapons that have been used historically if you're going to use a name like gladius.

I personally think a plain set would be by far the best; it's useable by more people meaning more sales, plus if there is enough interest you could do small runs of Chapter-specific versions.

Gladius Sword

Totally agree with making them generic. In fact the models as they are now arent too bad except for the symbols IMO.

As Captain JJ says, I'd use the historical as a starting point- it has to look the part if you're going to name it after a historical weapon. But of course, this is 40k, and plain weapons just don't fit in. We like ornate things for our elite soldiers- just look at the new Blood Angel and Grey Knight Thunder/Nemesis Force Hammers, completely covered in decorations.

What I would like to see is varying levels of decoration on the weapon, or at least different kinds of decoration. A skull on one, a medallion on another, a purity seal on the third, etc. If every weapon is decorated the same (like your medallions on all three) then no matter how cool the decoration is, it becomes common and uninteresting.

Also, as much as I like the Ultras and the Agemo, a blank space on the weapon that can be used to affix decorations of our choosing would be cool. That way we can decorate it ourselves with purity seals, skulls, brass etch chapter badges, etc.
