Indeed - but I already have 2x2 cruisers (2 Carnages and 2 Devastations)...and an Acheron. It is just that I have run out of the correct gun turrets to make a second Acheron, so I was contemplating doing something else with my last, unassembled cruiser frame.

Sounds like you're out of lance turrets but you're ok on battery and launch bays I take it?

If so, I think either the Styx or Hades would work.

Styx is more expensive but a more natural fit for your list, hanging back with the Devs.

Hades normally works with Murders in a more aggressive Chaos fleet, but with your fleet you could either run it with the Acheron and try to get both ships within 45cm or have it hang back with the Devs as protection while sniping with lances.

Hail

Thank you for your replies.

Alas, I have not had a single BFG game since last, but I have managed to paint up a piece of terrain, and to finish assembling my last ships, which I will show off here :

A planet along with its moon:

And The Dark Side:

And here are the three ships - the last cruiser is still on sprue:

Thank you!

Yes, I know that the construction looks a bit...wonky...but the base is a wooden base bought from an Arts & Crafts shop (called "Panduro"), so it is actually stable enough.

Thank you!

I am well in the process of painting the Repulsive-class and the Acheron-class. With regards to further terrain, I am working on making an asteroid cluster with some paper clips, laundry-type coat hanger and very light weight modelling clay...ought to be interesting... I will see if I can do a tutorial of some sort...

When I am done with the Repulsive and the Acheron, I will do a group shot - I will also see if I can find a black piece of cloth to put them on...

Hail!

Well - after a VERY productive Saturday with my friend who plays the Eldar (he finished his ENTIRE fleet in a single sitting), I have a bit more to show. First up, I managed to finish off my Repulsive-class grand cruiser - aptly named "The Repulsive" - and an Acheron-class grand cruiser - named "The Malevolence". They can both be seen here:

I also took a picture of all I have to date, which is here:

As for terrain, well, I did a bit of enterprising and came up with this...can you guess what it is? ;-)

Brownie points for first guess ;-)

Well - points for AngelsAbsolute! It is indeed astroide clusters :-D Wicked, right? I will get them painted this week, and show them next to the ships then.

The wooden bases are bought in a Arts and Crafts shop here in Copenhagen called "Panduro" - but I guess they will be available most places? I use a Dremel to drill a small hole in the middle of it, and stick a laundry coat hanger into it, snipped to a suitable length. When that is dry (I used a hot glue gun on one, and liquid green stuff on the other. Glue gun works best...), I grabbed some paper clips, straightend them out, and super glued them onto the coat hanger length at various intervals. When that was dry, I put on a small blob of liquid green stuff in the joining to hold it better together.

When that then was dry, I started making small balls out of ultralight modelling clay (also bought in Panduro), and stuck them on the ends of the paper clips and in the joinings on the coat hanger wire. These balls were pricked with the sharp end of the brush to produce the knobbery effect on them :-)

The Eldar fleet can be seen here: http://www.powerfist.dk/forum/index.php?topic=56488.25

Thank you - I am glad to hear that you like them. I am planning om making perhaps 5 bases total with asteroids. I would like to make a nebula/gas cloud with LED lights, somehow, but I am not really sure I have the technical-electrical aptitude to pull it off. Time will tell.

With regards to the Eldar, "we" have only played a single game so far, just before Easter. HOWEVER, my mate and I have arranged a game on Monday the 28th of May 2012, so there my Chaos fleet will meet his Eldar. We have agreed on 1000 points.

Thus, if anyone has a suggestion for an optimized list to blast the Eldar out of the void, I will pleased to hear it. The ships available to make such a list are:

1 Desolator

1 Repulsive (large base)

1 Acheron

2 Carnages

2 Devastations

1 unmade cruiser

Please advise... :-)

And thank you- I will keep that in mind, and see what I can do with those ships that are left. It is a pity that the Desolator should not see battle - after all; I finished it just last night!!! :-D

Here ya are:

Nice looking battleship, that will be a great centerpiece to the fleet.

As far as your fleet, I would lead with the desolator to provide some range and hopefully soak up the majority of incoming firepower.

The carnage will be a natural choice, that leaves 340 points.

Two murders would be perfect but you don't have those.

Hail

Well - no problem. I will try and construct a list on the basis of what you have said.

How does this 1000 point list look to y'all? (And bear in mind that it is supposed to be tailored to smack the Eldar Craftworld down)

Repulsive "The Loathsome" (incl extra shield upgrade) 245pts

Chaos Lord w. Mark of Tzeentch (extra re-roll) 85pts

2 Carnage-class cruisers 360pts

1 Devastation-class cruiser 190pts

Total: 880 points

Suggestions on improvement...and how to use the last 120 points would be much appreciated!! Alas, I do not have 4 Iconoclasts to chuck onto the table...

Anyhoo - I have worked a bit more on my asteroids, and here is the finished result:

And with "The Loathsome" for scale:

Enjoy!

I dislike tailoring a lot. Though the ship selection is common for an allround fleet as well so I will let it slip. :)

3 Infidels. ;)

Really, I see no other options to your fleet unless you diss the Repulsive.

Hail!

Thank you for the reply.

Now, I am perfectly willing to ditch the Repulsive...as long as I can make a viable 1000 point list :-)

I also seem to understand, that the escorts we can draw upon as followers of the the true gods, are lackluster at best? Or is that only against the Imperial Navy, Space Marines and other Chaos fleets; whilst against the Eldar, the massed weapon batteries might actually be useful?

Well - I will be the first to admit, that I have only played one game so far, so my experience is...limited. With regard to the escorts, I do not recall having seen one Chaos fleet list incorporating the little blighters; but I may well be wrong...

How would your ideal 1000 point list look, then? :-)

Cheers!
