Hi guys,

Our friend Ariakas posted a Forge World Chaos Decimator review. I thought you guys might be interested in it.

Here's a quote:

So, using my old habit when it comes to Forge World to order their releases early to get “fresh” moulds, and thus reduce the chances of miscast, I pre-ordered the Decimator and each weapon set right away. If I am not mistaken the release date was due on the 2nd of April and I received it on the 4th of April so kudos to them for shipping early (had I lived in UK I’d prolly had receive it before release so that’s a good point for them.)

I hope you find it interesting.

Glad to know it was of any use

Yeah, the material seems to be something new - so far Forge World used pretty hard resin and now, well, you know the rest.
Thankfully the quality was decent...

There was a post (may have been on the FW fB page) where FW talked about using different resins for different kits and that included the same resin that GW uses for Finecast. So it seems depending on the kit will depend on the type of resin used. I'll see if I can locate that post again and link to it here.

I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Anyway it seems Forge World casting specialists can do better than the FineCast crew :)

Here we go, this involves an email to FW and response from March of this year:

Suggestions on various forums isn't that FW is using finecast resin recipe but has started using the sprue type casting and that is part of the problem.

The things in that e-mail from Forgeworld that seemed clear to me were:

"Finecast is a GW Brand (not a product or recipe), we don't/can't use that brand"
"Finecast uses a resin formula/recipe or recipes"
"We use more than one recipe"
"We neither confirm nor deny that one of our recipes is the same as the one used to produce the Finecast range"

Hardly conclusive, just "please don't call it Finecast"

Just my impression of it.
On the internet you can be ANYTHING you want.

Why do so many people choose to be stupid?

That's also what I read in the emails, yes.

"Please don't associate our products with Failcast. We actually know how to run a resin mini company."

My words not theirs.
