I have some various models, but looking at building my army so I can play at local game shops/tournies instead of just proxying units in my buddies basement.

Rhino - EA and Smoke

750 pts
I have a Dread, some termies, and a LRC as well...so I will be able to expand to 1500 pts shortly after that. Any advice is appreciated!

It looks good, but make sure to use your Smoke well, and keep your Landspeeders mobile.

Tonight I was thinking of maybe changing my list, let me know thoughts on this:
Forgoing the rhinos and land speeder squadrons until I am ready to expand to 1500 pts, and instead pick up some scouts and do something like this...
1st Squad - 18 total, slog across the battlefield and take opponents objective
EC AAC
8 Initiates BP/CCW
1 meltagun
1 BP/PF
7 Neophytes BP/CCW
2nd Squad - 16 total, go to middle objective
8 Initiates BP/CCW
1 meltagun
1 BP/PF
6 Neophytes BP/CCW
3rd squad - 5 total, defend our objective
3 Initiates Bolter
1 Plasmagun
1 Lascannon
741/750
Will this work in a small points game like this? I played something similar to this in my first game against a friends GK's, but it was 500 pts and only two squads.

The only advice that I can give you is to try to include some sort of Anti Armor. In my first 750 point game, my opponent brought a Predator, and I was unable to kill it with what I had for anti armor. My seven fifty point list now goes something like this.

Plasma Gun
Missile Launcher.
At 750, this has enough anti tank, but still has a pair of Crusader Squads to take objectives. You also have a good shooty objective holder. Trust me, even at 750, the Rhino's are going to be a big help. Remember, they have fire points, as well as a Storm Bolter. That allows you to sling some shots at a larger range, while getting across the board faster.
Just my two thrones here, so do what you think is best.
