my sob are returning to the tourny seen, ive been having a lot of success with the girls at the moment thrashing some of the top tier lists going around.

1500 points

HQ- st celestine 115

TROOP-10 sob, 2 melta, rhino 180

what do people think?? it is very very heavy on kill points. I am tempted to swop the combi-meltas for combi-flamers for help with hordes and light targets.

Yeah I think a bit of utility wouldn't go amiss in the Dominion squads. Failing that, keeping the Combi-meltas in 2 units and put a pair of Flamers and a Combi-Flamer in the 3rd Dominion squad? Kind of like a mirror of the three Sisters squads.

How have the 3 Exorcists been working for you? I'm not totally sold on the 3rd as the army actually misses out on Heavy Bolters (especially with Rending) to deal with Infantry and bigger hordes of infantry. Celestine can only do so much after all.

Lose 1 Exorcist.
Get 6 or 7 Rets with 4 HB.
Maybe Flamer, CFlamer and HFlamer in one SoB squad and 2 Melta/CMelta squads with the points saved with Searchlights and Dozers to boot (I have to admit I've got a fetish for Dozers after running them in a few tourneys now).

ive tried 4hb rets before and liked them a lot, but i feel the army needs another exorcist launcher as it helps with instant killing grey knights, wraiths. its to easy to get a poor role with 2 exorcists and somthimes you need more shots. the other day the 3 exorcists helped me table a mech blood angels army that had 6 razorbacks, 3 baal preds, 3 preds and i think if i had rets i would have struggled because half the time i wouldnt have had rending.

Prefer the 3rd Exorcist in your list mate. The artillery barrage from 3 is very effective.

Don't think you can go far wrong with Retributors too so no worries either way.

I think, if I was playing your army, I'd keep the third exorcist. Simply because, like you say, a couple of all too easy bad rolls can spoil the day.

3 Exorcists make that far less likely - and it also contributes to armour saturation (which there is a lot to say for).

I think though, maybe combi-flamers would be a good shout. You have a lot of melta (a lot!) and the exorcists for anti-tank, but not so much to cut through large blobs with beyond massed bolter fire.

The flamers can really help out - not to mention toasting any annoying Eldar Pathfinders etc cowering on an objective.

How has Celestine work out for you? My Sisters experience isn't massive (especially with the new codex).

One of the armies looked quite similar to yours, 3 Exo's, a large number of Rhino chasis vehicles. I think the best Sister player took a Death Cult though.

Totally - I think with Sisters it's because there's no immediately apparent 'Power Build'. I'm not someone who buys in to 'Netlists' much anyway, but some people look at the GK book for example, and go ''Draigowing.... Purifier Spam... Cotez Antics'' and then either copy a build or shoehorn in their fav unit (or just copy the list exactly).

*Disclaimer* I don't think they Grey Knight book is over powered and I don't think all people who play Draigowing etc are WAAC jerks - just wanted to be clear

I don't think I've ever looked at Sister and gone ''That unit's ridiculous!'' but when it all comes together.... it's a lot of armoured vehicles, a lot of melta and a LOT of Sisters on the table. I mean, your army has, what, 54 models?! That's loads - there are 45 in my Dark Eldar and none of them are in power armour!

I really like the Sisters - it would be kind of nice if they could release some plastic models though!

When in July is ToS? I really would like to go - but not sure which weekends I can do, hopefully ToS will land on one of them!

I played a game yesterday (1850 pts) and although she only killed 5 models (a BA RAS squad) she died twice, came back to life on my 2nd last turn and took a Troops choice off an objective. She was killed off by a Baal Predator on turn 1, came back to life before being killed by a Libby Dread in Turn 2, stayed down til Turn 4 and then soaked up a round of shooting from an AutoLas Pred, a RAS squad and a Baal Predator.

She'll kill infantry all day. She'll do nothing against vehicles, nothing at all but that's what all of your Melta is for. The main thing she does is act as a massive nuisance (given nothing away unless she's dead at game end? ?) and because she's so cheap I reckon she's best character in the game. My opponent said as much after our game yesterday and summed her up by saying that she's not worth wasting firepower on, you don't want to risk assaulting her with Infantry and you can't do anything if she decides to get back up in her last turn and sit on an objective or hide from your guns.

@Sgt Campbell: I normally play 1850 pts and I've changed my list about in the last few games as I want to try some of the other units before ruling them out completely.

im not entirely sold on this, there isnt alot of vareity in the sisters dex, so alot of powerful/competative builds look similar.
i pride myself on being pretty good at list building, and i hadnt done too much research on SOB before jumpin into playing them..
i was quite surprised when the list i wrote was almost identical to alot of tournament SOB lists

Oh don't get me wrong, I think the stronger builds are fairly clear - I just don't think they look as powerful, comparatively, as some of the 'Power'builds out there and, if someone said to themselves 'I want to start a new, powerful army' I think they'd overlook the Sisters.

fickle very fickle I've gone through entire games and not made a single faith or 6+ on a vehicle. But I supose it's part of the charm of the army being so random!

When it comes to every list looking similar there's little wonder why, dominions are better than celestians, the saints miles better than a cannones and exorcists are our only real Long range anti tank.

I feel sisters are one of the best all rounders going around, flamers are good against troops/hordes and melta is the daddy against tanks and tough troops all of which sisters have in abunbance!

Seraphim are the best use of Faith Points. Not only do they have one of the better Acts, they free get re-rolls on failed tests. While we could spend the points and get a simulacrum for the Dominions, I have a hard time justifying the points on a squad that will hrown up against the heaviest of the opponents units often without support.

I have my Faith Priority System™ and it works for me.
Seraphim shooting
Seraphim assaulting
Repentia assault if I have a squad -- which is often because I like them even if they are not the best use of points.
Dominions shooting (their 1st turn only)
Retribution shooting (after turn 1)
Battle Sisters needing to rally

Any time I want to do something out of priority I have to remind myself that the Seraphim are almost certian to pass their test while everyone else is just taking a risk.

Oh I'm not Franco - I'm the guy Franco played in round 4 -The poor unfortunate Dark Eldar.... I was proud of my ravager - no AV11 Vehicle has any right to survive that many autocannon shots!

I did take Inquisitor Karamazov and callidus assassin to the gt a few years ago with the old codex the assassin was brilliant at taking out long fangs!! but at 1500 i only take pure sisters of battle, i think at 1750 i might squeeze in a battle conclave.

thats exactly it, not many units can withstand fire from 3 exorcists and 3 battle sister squads then a charge from celestine but cpt. idahos necron wraiths and destroyer lord have been very close!

Haha - I enjoyed reading it, I imagine I'd have enjoyed writing it too if I'd summoned up the energy!

Incidentally, Iron Father Rik (and this will be my last hijack post), in the 'Throne of Skulls round up' missing enemy who played Brother Eccles was Dark Eldar. I know because it was me! I beat Eddie but lost to Franco - guess I'm even with the Caledonian Deathwatch?

Sgt Campbell - I saw on the Necron Forum that Idaho had an experience with your sisters of battle, namely that his wraiths were on the receiving end of 2 Exorcists and 30 rapid firing sisters? How have the wraiths been performing against you?

Is there a particular list or style of build (from any dex) that you find you struggle with? I find, with my Dark Eldar, I'm happy against anything except Grey Knight Auto-cannon spam, for example.

Also, and not to be 'that' guy - but isn't your army list (as listed above) 1510 pts? Or do I keep continuously adding it up wrong!? (Which is entirely possible)

I mean... not like it's a big deal - one combi-weapon. But just thought I'd let you know. Had a mate disqualified from ToS once for not having paid for 2 plasma guns in one of his Chaos Marine squads...... they took his one and only point off him. The Barstewards. Lol.
