I have some ideas for Horus Heresy-era Space Marine armies, but considering how nerfed the tabletop Marines are (compared to the fluff), I thought about uprating a Space Marine or Chaos Space Marine army's stats. EVERYONE will follow Movie Marines rules, so the Space Marines will act like eight-foot-tall supersoldiers capable of crushing the human skull with their bare hands.

For comparison, here's a Movie Marine's stats:

Space Marine, 100 points each: WS 5, BS 5, S 6, T 6, W 2, I 5, A 3, Ld 9, Sv 3+

And here are Mephiston's stats, after they've been uprated:

Mephiston, 334 points: WS 8, BS 7, S 8, T 8, W 6, I 8, A 3, Ld 10, Sv 2+

Looks reasonable as a Primarch stand-in, right?

The BoLS article also uprated stats for Rhino and Razorback transports, e.g., BS is "5" instead of "4". I'm hesitant to uprate the armor, as the article does, but uprating the vehicles' BS seems reasonable. Thoughts on how much this would increase a vehicle's cost?
Wolf Scout- Catachan barking toad eggs+ Thousand Sons Marine= Fun! (Wolves of Catachan)
Land Raider- Transport capacity+ Earthshaker cannon= More fun! (Steel Crusaders)
Sisters of Battle+ Fenrisian Beer- Inhibitions- Sanity= Trouble! (Order of the Blazing Heart Rocket Punch Pimp Magnet She-Wolf)

Mephiston needs an upgraded version? O.o

I think the BS upgrades are silly. BS 4 is more than reasonable for infantry (or vehicles) engaged in ground combat.

Why does MC Fistin' have only 3 attacks? 5 is fine. Go big or go home?

I figure the best way to make Marines act like Movie Marines without going all the way down the Movie Marines route is to just have them as AV9 walkers (AV8 on the rear) and charge 20-25 points a marine.

If we're doing Movie Marines, I think they should have a special rule that reduces every enemy's ballistic skill to 1. Everyone knows that main characters have specially designed plot armor that deflects all lasers, bullets, arrows, and other ranged projectiles.
Current Projects:

Codex: Order of the Faithful Blade
Final Version posted (save for minor tweaks)
Index Astartes & Codex: Errant Falcons
Still in Development

The Inquisition Project

^^; THat's why I said armour 9. Lasguns can only glance it (one or two always die, too... it is a war movie).

The problem with "movie marines" is that they aren't really field-able in a realistic game. Because 40K is based on a D6 system, there isn't nearly enough variance in the stat lines to make them both more accurate to the fluff and actually able to field them in a game where they won't be either horribly under costed or impossible to win with.

On a D20 system however, like that of Infinity, it's definitely possible to create a fluff accurate marine while still having balance in the game. Like I and my friend have done which I've started a thread on here(shameless plug I know  )

Just add more wounds to marines. That alone makes them feel closer to fluffy marines.

Yea that really is the simplest answer or give them a perminet 4+ FnP save. In the books thats what it really comes down to. It's not that they don't get hurt. They just don't care and keep going leaving a nice tril of blood behind them.
