  • 1 month later...

Thank you guys. smile.png

So, its been a month since my last post, and in that time I've not managed to do much. I had about 3 weeks where I didn't look at a paint brush, but have managed to do a bit of stuff in the past few days. Here's my current work in progress........Belial

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/photo3_zps757dbad9.jpg

and also the start of my Inquisitorial War-not-using-any-GW-miniatures-band.......

Inquisitor Coat-he-has...with his Nemesis Doom stick....

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/The%20Inquisition/photo2_zpsa579e74e.jpg

Hoping to get these all finished by the weekend, so that I can go on to paint a Death Cult Assassin from Studio McVey miniatures that I picked up at Salute

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/Akarui1_zpsba29fc90.jpg

and then its on with some more Guardians I think....

Yeah its a lovely sculpt. The miniatures are a little bit bigger than standard 28mm, more like 32mm, but you can't really tell the difference when they are on the tabletop. The big difference is the base size, which is 5mm bigger than the normal 40k, but as the warband I'm creating is more for the fun of painting that any serious gaming that doesn't bother me in the slightest :)

Inquisitor Coat-he-has

Made me giggle a little but it is a nicely done paint job and then comes the required busty wench that should be in everyones army ;) (I am looking at a female Commissar for my IG)

Nice sculpt and should look great with some paint on her. If the bases are too big try using a standard GW one instead.

The dreadnought weathering is perfect - not too much or too little, well done.

Now I want more....

Ta very muchly........as an aside, here is my completed Path to Redemption force (and a legally playable army - apart from the banner bearer - if I use the DV Company Master as Azrael...although its not exactly competitive!)

Ta muchly! thumbsup.gif

I have finally finished off my 1st Company Master....phew.....and here he is, in all his Scibor resin-y-ness....I give you Prefect Chamuel, Master of the Tutores Foederis, 3rd in Command of the Guardians of the Covenant, resplendent in a suit of Master-crafted Terminator Armour, first presented to the Deathwing prior to the Heresy, and gifted to the Chapter by the Dark Angels as part of their secret Covenant.

He can often be found taking his morning constitutional amidst the ruins of the ancient civilisation of Mortikah VII msn-wink.gif

Next I'm taking a bit of a break from 40K to paint some old Marauder Dwarf models, and some Ogre Ironguts, after which I'll return, either with some Ravenwing or Deathwing.......

Ask and ye shall receive (if your bro Immo has the answer that is):

Actually browse their catalog since there are two more models like that in there. I think the one with the cigar and the bionic eye is more badass than the one I posted. They also make damonettes (mantis warriors me thinks) worth their salt.

Facmanbob your army is simply delicious!

Jumping into the ETL II with both feet.......

Pics will be inserted here this evening when I get home and photograph the sprues.......

I, Facmanpob, being of sound mind and light wallet, do hereby answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX

and vow to complete a Deathwing Command Squad and Deathwing Knights Squad from Codex Dark Angels

of total value of 580 points (broken down below) on or before August 15th. Success will bring eternal glory to

the Guardians of the Covenant Chapter of the Dark Angels Legion (sshhhhh, we're still a Legion but nobody knows! msn-wink.gif )

and failure will doom me to be poked with soft cushions and bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end

Squad Breakdown as follows:

Command Squad:

Champion

Banner Bearer with Standard of Fortitude, Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield

Terminator with SB / CF

Terminator with SB / PF

Terminator with PC / PF

Deathwing Knights:

5 x Knights with Perfidious Relic of the Unforgiven

As you can see from the photo above (if you look closely), in addition to the DW Command Squad sprues I have purchased some Forge world DA terminator shoulder pads, some Grey Knight Terminator heads and some really cool Fantascape resin bases. The Command Squad is going to get the FW pads, and the Knights are getting the bases I think.

Here is the first model to be built......the banner bearer with TH/SS

@elphilo - Steal away, my friend, steal away! smile.png

@BB - many thanks smile.png

And I spent some time readying the rest of the 1st ETL II vow, and here they are.....

First the Deathwing Knights. I decided that I would keep these completely stock out of the box, and deliberately not use the bits box to enhance them in any way, and I'm glad I did as they are fabulous models.....I really think GW outdid themselves with this box, the stuff in it is awesome!

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/IMG_1175_zps77b0a3e8.jpg

and secondly, the Command Squad. For these guys I used the Command Squad torso fronts from the DWK box, and some torso backs and legs I bought from ebay. The heads are Grey Knight Terminator heads, which with a little bit of trimming here and there fit nicely. I've also used Forge World shoulder pads, which I have to say are stunning, and I was lucky enough to get an almost perfect set of casts! Add in a DA Storm Shield and a couple of storm bolters and heraldry shield thingies from the DA Chapter Upgrade Frame and we're good to go. I also used the wingy bits from the DWK box on the Champion's back to make him stand out a bit more.

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/IMG_1176_zps2f56e63c.jpg

I am looking forward to painting these guys over the next few weeks biggrin.png

So, back from holiday, and a nice time was had by all!

a quick wip to show what I was doing before I went away, and some of the progress I've made over the past 2 nights. The pics are from my phone and aren't particularly good, but hopefully you get the idea msn-wink.gif

the bases are Fantascape and have lots of nice detail on them...still a way to go before they are finished, but the rest of the miniatures are coming along. Most of the remaining work, apart from the bases, is on the faces and the front of the torsos (green robes and all the little bling!)...

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/IMG_1212_zps7be1caa1.jpg

the shields are wonderfully sculpted, and the models are a joy to paint...

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/IMG_1215_zpsf32b2cee.jpg

the Knight Master's legs, with the knee colours signifying dual allegiances.....bone and green for the Deathwing, and Red and blackened steel for the GotC...

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/IMG_1216_zpsa534db8a.jpg

and finally, my little Watcher in the Dark...almost complete...

Aaannd I'm going to call these Deathwing Knights 99% complete, as I still have some tinkering to do on the bases, and the odd bit of varnishing smile.png
