I recomend you start building now, even if you wait to paint untill you have the model completely assembled, at least you'll only need to add those two things.

She still has some touch ups to do.... But seeing as I can't count her in the challenge, this is going to have to be "finished" for now. And it really is almost done, I just need to do highlights to the outside, and I think some weathering to the stripes and maybe the decking and hull? But I've never done it before so for now I'll just leave it as is. After the challenge I'll come back to it

 

 

Here's the starting pic of my first vow. It's just two drop pods.... I'm thinking I'll do some preds or infantry units once I finish this one, I've got a few things I could work on.

I've already started work on it, putting a few coats of the white on the fins.... It sucks and I instantly regret it because the starting stages are my most difficult ones. I did so many different things to get the color on the first pod, that I don't remember what worked and what didn't, and if its a combination of things or what I even did.... I can't wait to get to the insides, those are easy... Outsides suck.

Bit of advice, paint the white areas grey first. It'll make getting the white smooth a lot easier ;)

raz has the right of it grey over the black then white and the same with brown or tan for the red. makes coverage easier and fewer coats

When I said white, I ment gray. It's how I've been doing the first layers. I feel like the problem is the brush, the way it moves on the model doesn't seem like its doing as much work as I am with each stroke.

 

I got a lot of good progress done this weekend. I started by breaking apart the two parts that hold the ramp/doors in place. Once I had everything in parts I continued with the white and then did the blue. Next time blue is first.... White first was a mistake. I then did the inside metal, washing and highlighting everything. Then the screens. I was just working on the red before calling it a night. It's painful because I really think I need a new brush for this task, and I just bought 8 of them a few weeks ago.

Yup, they will be next on my chop block.... Alongside my liby/sicarus model. I've never had a problem with counts as, and in the realm of psykers, it just makes it cool to use them for whatever needs. I'm thinking I could sprinkle some minor psykers into squads as the plasma gunner, and just give him some mind bullets. Or as a flamer with a fireball.

Welp, started painting the first coat on the tanks... And I realize that Im not sure where I'm painting what colors... So my question to you all is, how do you determine what goes where on you're tanks?

The hull I do the main armor color for your army the side indentions I.e. where the dozer blade fits I do the secondary color and hatches a 3rd color...so in your case kantor blue hull red indentions and white doors

I've always thought that the secondary color is white. Red is just a trim. Sadly I don't see any trim like areas for the red.

I would say yea white is the secondary color for the 1st co due to their trousers...but the red piping is HUGE on our regular blues...just like are blood stripe...hey is their any haz....I mean training when NCO's get their blood stripe in the eagles? Lol

The promotions of the modern day are a little different from that of the future. Once you become a veteran and are in the first company, then you get promoted to Sgt. So you're blood stripe ceremony is also your new check in to the first company.

 

To put it mildly... Things get crazy. How crazy? I'm not sure. The crimson fist have some ceremony involving blood and sticking their fist into it. I think the blood stripe might actualy be a blood stripe. Though how they go about it I'm not sure yet. I know that one badass chaplain has marines run a slaughterfest of a PT session in which the marines are in full combat load. Minus the power source to their armor.

 

Gota make it tough somehow.
