the checkers on the shield

He was the only one I could not find place on the front to put the 4th Company badge - so on the shield it went. Glad you noticed :)

Wow man, just wow.

you know I hate and love you in equal measure right ;) ? seriously amazing work man. this whole ETL thing just got me all hot and bothered for a DA army. when I got back into THE hobby (addiction), Codex:DA was the first thing I bought. even b4 the AoBR, or the codex. Yours is one of those armies that make people notice and say "yes please". I cannot wait to see your take on any new units that the DA could get in the new DEX.

in short..... Well played sir, well played indeed. FP

You are an army one!!!!

4th Company of 1 maybe  but we need the help of all DA's to win this challenge.

Furioso-prime: Thanks, just what I needed - a love/hate relationship

I am just hoping that, after going for the Stormraven in RW colours it will be included. If not I can still look at it and sigh but it was worth it!

This week I will mostly be doing the Landraider once the Dreads have been based.

I will upload progress photos on Fri as usual.

I have already orderd the next bits for my vow as this seems destined to grow and grow like last time - damn you Master of Recruits. You know my weakness, I can't resist a challenge :P

Thanks Stobz :P

You not entering the vow or have I just missed it somewhere?

I've not entered yet, I'm finishing up my Tac sqd #6 and their Razorback then I need to decide on what I'll vow. I'll get it in on time no worries here mate.

Probably do a RWAS and see how I go, might add a DW Ven-Dread and/or an LRC for Belial to ride in. I haven't decided yet though as R/L is making me have to prioritise time a bit harder than last year.

All the weapons have been painted along with a whole load of work done on one side

The HB and HF are magnetised so I can swap between them when I want

This is my take on the DW Techmarine gunner :D

A gothic muriel depicting an Angel (of death?) wielding an assault cannon? ARE YOU SERIOUS? HOW COOL IS THAT! Who needs a scythe? Certainly not Mr. Death that's who! hahahaha!!!

Well done on the Techmarine and the creamy white of the tank - looks very smooth... Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks guys...

Angel (of death?) wielding an assault cannon

The one on the other side has a heavy flamer - can I use them as extra weapons ie "Power of the Machine Spirit"

Elmo9141:

The trio of dreads are top notch; however, I must echo the sentiments regarding the assault cannon wielding angel on the door. Simply wicked, sir.

I doubt you'll receive much dissent about this here as everyone would be joining you on the same side of the table. :)

Thanks FC but I cannot take all the credit for the Angels of Death - It is a good quality resin set from Chapterhouse.

Just the other side, the front, the back and the top to do... not to mention the inside :)

I hope to have it in box form by next Friday and should take about a week after that to finish off with weathering etc.

More photos next weekend

Everything looks great! I like how the Land Rider bits are coming along, particularly the gunner. This isn't some Land Raider from the Chapter Armoury, but one from the 1st Company, and it is maintained/crewed by a Techmarine specialist in 1st Company livery. Very nice. I'll have to nab that idea, as I like all that it implies so far as the Chapter organization is concerned.

LokisSword

I can't quite believe the speed that you are cranking this stuff out, how many hours a day do you paint?!

The secret is a squad of painting serfs who are chained in my painting corner.

In fact, I paint for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours Mon-Thurs with spraying on weekends.

shabbadoo

nab away - glad you like him.

Elmo, it’s so frustrating when there is someone that is as great a painter as you are and are so damn quick at it! Stop it! :P No, seriously, cut it out, Throne damn you.

:P

Really, you did a fantastic job on all three dreads, and so damn fast, it’s awesome! I can’t really think of a way to give you any tips or suggestions. I really like the little icons on each of them, all of them add so much character!

On the Land Raider, I’m really digging the angel mural doors! They are looking nice, however, are you going to add any weathering to them to that they look like they actually fall down into the dirt? Honestly, I think that could go either way, it could improve or it could detract and the clean version would look better. I’m not sure which way I’d go. Even though I’m not so sure on my personally feelings about the Techmarines and their inclusion in the Deathwing with regards to the current fluff, I think it looks fantastic (and I’m honestly not sure I like the exclusion of them in the current fluff either, I think that while Marines might have some loyalty to Mars, they will always be more loyal to their Chapter brothers, and therefore any Techmarines able to pass the requirements of the Deathwing, I think they’d be let in).

Looking forward to more model shots!

Edit: question, where did the legs that you used on that Tactical Squad come from?

Thanks Bryan - I will try to slow down a little after the 15th Aug :)

The legs are from HERE

They make a nice change to the standard ones and where good quality resin items. I would recommend checking out their website.

I also got a set of these for my Termis but have not gotten around to starting them yet. Next project - coming soon.

The LRC is now together and once I have painted it "sprayshop fresh" I will be going back to "distress" it. A few paint scratches and mud splashes in keeping with my other vehicles.

The techmarine colour was a difficult decision. I wanted him to have the red PA but still look like he belonged to the LR therefore also had something to do with the 1st Company. The bone shoulder plate was a small move towards implying that he was an active part of the DW. A green Tech/normal marine on a DW LR would have looked more out of place (I like the animation that visable crew give to a model). So in this case art beat fluff :woot:

Some will hate it - some will like it, but such is life.....

You should know by now that I am a little non-codex with my projects (Raven/LS Storm) :)

Techie looks fantastic, not being in the DW is one of the worst and easiest to ignore bit of our fluff. Hell in one of our vaunted DA books the techie knows more about what's going on than the Chaplain.

They CAN be trusted. (as much as anyone :woot: )

The dark red weapon casings are looking really cool, esp for a black casing guy like me.

Thanks Stobz

I have recently decided to go for the darker red weapons casings and I think it looks far better than the bright red I previously used.

So - I will have to go back to the initial units and redo the weapons :D

And seeing your 3rd Company on parade is motivating me to sort out my 4th..... Not much to go now.

My method uses all old colours - so when they run out I may have problems..

Undercoat with Matt Black spray

Using thinned paint and as many coats as required...

Mechrite red foundation

Scab red

Devlin mud - try to pool it in the centre strips of the casing.

highlight with blood red

Hope this helps ;)

You will have to use the GW comparison chart to work out what the new colours are. I have not had to buy any yet :P
