Wow I really hope this isn't truth. They should really just say: "We are raising prices to the point where no one with buy anymore and no one will start this game because we hate the customers."

Most of this stuff was way overpriced to begin with now they are just riping people off. I was fighting with myself about getting a Stormraven because it was so high and not they have lost me having buying it completely. $82.50 really?

check how much it costs to get a basic chaos list then 1500 pts no units to change , then add around 100~120$ for the parts you dont get in boxs[second meltas etc]. Then ask a 14year old if he can buy that or if his parents will give him enough money to buy those .

You know, the other day I was in the LGS and I had the strangest impulse to buy a Chaos Vindicator. I had kicked around the idea of a second one for a long time, but have so many other projects to finish right now that I knew it was just going to sit in the box for a long while before I got to it, but I got it anyway. Must have been ripples in the Warp, the souls of damned and penniless hobbyists screaming at me to buy my second big gun before it was too late...

I'm glad I don't need to buy much else to have my battle company done. Sheesh. I can't even in good conscience ask for any of this stuff as presents any more. Can't ask my family to just give up their own money like that.

Do GW not realise that price increase does not equal more money? Raise them too high and people will go elsewhere, and then they lose their money. I'm pretty sure they're actually doing pretty well for money before the price hike, this is nothing but corporate greed now. I think it's time to start properly using Wayland, which is a shame as I'm then not supporting my LGS. The thing is those guys will get the flack for it from customers, but they're only doing their job, they can't control it. They're such lovely guys and I dread to see what trouble they'll end up having because of this.

I don't know why GW thinks we have all this money to shell out. I mean it is hard to stay in the hobby already. In my case, i lost my job because of a injury and now live on a fixed income. I can't do have the projects i want because of the cost. It is now, that i might have to think of a new low cost hobby and i have been into 40k from the rogue trader days.

It may be worth it if they came up with special deals or customer appreciation days that is as regular as their prise increases. How can they justify to a new hobbiest that would like to get into 40k to spend that much money?

Another nail in the coffin for GW. I am glad that I bought my army (cost £6000+) in 2010 before the prices got a little silly (even then I used an online retailer for a 25% discount). Like Brother Varen above me I lost my job too due to ill health and now my disposable income has virtually disappeared, this price rise makes it even harder for me to do those projects and armies I want, even when using discount retailers. I wont be rage quitting due to enjoying the hobby too much and investing endless hours (I wouldn't change that for the world) however certain projects but for now my purchasing is going to be nearly non existent.

Sigh GW why are you choking your loyal customers and inevitably your own business?

I was good friends with my FLGS owner way way back in the old days. He was "Chapter Approved" at the time, and they gave him a hard time when he was selling stuff at 20% off MSRP. The GW rep told him, with a straight face, that he was losing money selling product cheaper, even if he sold twice as much.

So no. It's safe to say that GW's financial woes are a direct result of bad business sense. Pricing out the entry level gamer is just stupid.

There are always a few things that go down in cost. The Ushabti that went from singles to a 3 pack for example. Things like that tend to go down.
