Holy :censored::.  Leave the eye the way it is, that just adds to the horror of the model.  Totally badass.

Maybe a little green highlight on the blade?

There will be some green there. The scythe is just basic colors at the moment. It still needs to really be painted.

Thanks for all the great comments, gang. Definitely inspires me to knock this one out of the park.

Thanks gang!  I may do a little touch up on his lower lip to give it some depth and putter with his nostrils a bit (now that I see them in close up on the photo)... because, of course, someone will notice that 5' away on the gaming table - if I ever get to play. I need to live closer to some of the B&C crew so we could at least have stellar looking battle report pictures to go with my comic dice rolling.

Wow man. Im lost for words on this thread. Just spend my remaining day's worth of likes here. Your greenstuff skills are soooooo good, and combined with your painting and humor this thread to me is *the* go-to nurgle thread right now. AWESOME work. Ms. Blinky and the heldrake are beautifully disgusting - or is that disgustingly beautiful? Also, i cannot wait to see the Sentinel Triplets! Keep up the great work mate! :tu:

  • 1 month later...

The holidays getting in the way of the hobby are in full swing. I finished up THAT Rhett Bastid's drooling lip that I didn't like. Isn't he purty?

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0ew_RHpAO9E/VJETIo83xdI/AAAAAAAAB_c/Ok79Bc2cPR4/s1600/Tyhphface1217.jpg

One final shot in all his glory.  I like this angle, because it shows his rattiness and his Nurgliness all at the same time.  Not to scare anyone, but he'll be starring in his own comic in 2015. He's quite excited.... but SUCH a friggin primadonna. Oi.

And another shot of the Plaguebearers in progress. I tried a bunch of different washes over ther base coat (#1)... if you want specifics- like about what blue and red can do for you- yeah, you heard me right, you'll have to check out the details in my blog because they are long.   But I wanted to try different colors to make a base to do the detail on and see what happened. The nice thing about Chaos is there are really no boundaries for experimentation. But these are all base colors or the start of the base color underneath that will eventually be highlighted and detailed.

Yup, same here. Love the thread. Hope you'll find some time for more updates in the coming holidays.

I work two jobs. My out of the house job is retail, so the next week or so will suck huge for me. But somehow I did manage a couple days free and I'm likely to have the house to myself, so I should be able to get something..probably on the Plaguies, though I have two Vehicles to finish by the Ides of January as well.  And it not that far away Call of Chaos gang!

  • 3 weeks later...

With the hell that is retail during the holidays behind me, I find myself with a week to finish 2 vehicles and 10 plaguebearers. And frankly, I think I can do it. :) Here's the "before" picture of the two vehicles, primed and ready to go....

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DywdfuEx3Kw/VK4r6e9C85I/AAAAAAAACAA/Qc1AK0Pw1AE/s1600/Tanks01.jpg

Both models got an overall of Castellan Green on the armored areas.....

Then I did some successive highlights with other greens (and some bleached bone) which you can see going left to right.

Its just the start, but moving right along. Now, if you'll excuse me... I'm going to get back to painting. Cheers, ya'll!

Nice. When you're done, please explain how the top pictures are just 'base'. Looks like they had a hell of a wash-job!

The Vindicator was primed red brown, then washed with a brown/black (50/50)  The Rhino I had started a green paint scheme on I wasn't fond of so I gave it the same  priming wash of brown/black. Some of the old scheme showed through, until I started slapping green on there again. Anything that shows trough just helps add to the layered look.

Here's more progress on the Vindicator (Rhino is still dark green)  Did an overall highlight process, like I had on the back end in my last post.  Then shades with Druchii Purple Wash. An Overall of Althonian Camoshade, then picked out the shadows and some more of the downward strokes with Althonian Camoshade and Brown.  'sigh'  I still have a Rhino and 10 plaguebearers to finish by 15 January, I feel an all nighter coming on.

Also planning (once this challenge is all done- I won't want to paint for a while) my next conversion project. Rat Ogres into Obliterators, which might double as weapons teams for the Imperial Guar....er, I mean Astra Militariuminum- Nurgly Traitors.  This is an idea I have for the knucklewalking guy from the Island of Blodd set.

Definitely be posting in the next couple days as the time ticks away on the Call of Chaos challenge.  I blame Tzeentch. BAaaaad Tzeentch. :sad.:

Always love your updates mate. Good work and kudo's to you for sticking to it and persevering. Also: that OP dozer blade is jst sooo cool. I miss it. :sad.:

I love those old dozer blades too. Especially for Chaos.  I have several from older kits. At the rate I'm painting today the Vindicator should be done tonight...I hope.  I mean, who needs sleep, right?
