The Eye of Terror

At long last, the Bolter and Chainsword is proud to announce the release of the second issue of the Legio Imprint, the B&C's favorite electronic magazine. The Legio Imprint aims to showcase the best of the articles and features to be found on the Bolter and Chainsword, as well as including original content created especially for the publication. This issue has been a long time in coming - a lot of people put a lot of effort into this, and it's been my privilege to be a part of all that work and all that talent.

This second issue of the Legio Imprint series focuses on the Eye of Terror, the real axis of the galaxy. Its history and geography are explored. The Space Marines of the Astartes Praeses and renegade Chaos Space Marines are discussed. Mutations are converted. New rules for the Iron Hands, Exorcists and Chaos Space Marine Legions are presented. Miniatures are painted. New chapters are created. Battles are reported. And there's a campaign. At over a hundred pages, with illustrations from a variety of talented artists, miniatures from even more, and a number of authors, there should be something for everyone. --Octavulg

Editorial FAQ:
So the Legio Imprint isn't just about the Dornian Heresy?
It is not.

Octavulg, what took so long?
It's the Eye of Terror issue. The malign influence of the Warp is to be expected.

Where can I download that sexy Lions of Alba chapter symbol?
Why, right here! The charming and talented Dracul made a decal sheet.

So what's next for the Legio Imprint?
It's a secret. But you'll like it. Though, of course, volunteering to help out is a good way to find out.:o

Legio Imprints

The Legio Imprint tries to give the wider 40K community a taste of the tremendous talent and amazing effort put into projects across this site by showcasing the best of the B&C to the rest of the world. Note that the phrase 'the best of the B&C' casts a wide net, across writing, painting, rules, gaming advice and more, all across the board.

It makes sense to me that if the Tactical Marine intercepts the bullet with his face then the Captain really shouldn't lose his Iron Halo. Not unless Captain and Battle Brother were hugging at the time, in which case it's: bullet shorts out shield and then kills Marine. Captain looks on shocked as Marine slides down his body, then sinks to his knees shouting "nooooooooooo" with his hands in the air.

On vacation.

Nice. Liking the IA's in there. If you're ever looking for any material for another issue, well, there's, ahem, a certain project I'm working on with a few other members. It's not done, not by a fair ways, but it's there. :ermm:

I think you got the release order of the second 3rd Edition Chaos Codex and the Codex: Eye of Terror switched. I remember playing World Eaters using the Legion rules from that codex during the Eye of Terror campaign.

@darth_giles - You do realise that Lord Editor Octavulg is probably going to banish me to an extra-dimensional oubliette or sell me to Dark Eldar slavers now you've made him aware of my failings!

Thank you for pointing that out. As Octavulg mentioned in the Editor's FAQs the malign influence of the Warp distorted the publication schedule; I actually wrote that somewhat lengthy article in February/March 2011 so I can't recall the details (just sitting on the floor of the spare room surrounded by two decades worth of codexes!). I've just double checked and Codex Chaos 3.2 was 2002 and EoT was 2003. You have just earned yourself a job as a proof-reader/fact checker on the next issue.

Until you've done it you can't believe the weight on your shoulders when it comes to a research article like that. I think I actually remarked to Octavulg at one point that I could have written ten times as much original material in the time it took to produce that article. At one point I was asked to come up with notable campaigns that illustrated the character of the Heralds of Light and came up with campaigns listed in the article plus several more that didn't make it into the finished article in one short sitting. With the article on GW/Forgeworld published material I knew that the collective membership of the B&C carry around in their heads more knowledge than any one person could ever commit to paper.

Hopefully there won't be a deluge of such corrections but if there are then on my heads be it (I grew an extra one whilst researching Daemon Worlds).

To everyone else. Thank you for your kind comments.

I vaguely recall there being two print runs of the second CSM codex, and I think it came out after the EoT one. That may be the source of the initial confusion.

That, or it was the Warp. I think it was the Warp.

Also, those campaigns were sweet. Including the ones we didn't use, mind you. :)

Your illustrations were awesome, and you should feel awesome.

And by Russ's Iron B******s... This is badass... Im loving this alot! Im also surprised to see some of my seriously old artwork in there... like.. seriously old...

I would also like to say, the image I did of the purple Space marines that is tagged as 'Night Lords' aren't actually of that Legion, but of the Warriors of Mayhem.
