Thank you!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately!

But this does not mean i'm not busy haha!

Currently finishing the last models for the greyknight army that i sold, finishing a ultra marines company for a client and waiting on 40 heresy marines 1 more pred and 2 rhino's from an other client to go with the predator above.

In the meanwhile i'm working on a little secret project witch i will post pictures of when it is finished but this might take a while! :D

Stay tuned!

Hey all,

Thanks for the comments!

1000heathens: The shield is made from plastic card.

I still need to make a tutorial for it because there are some people asked me how i did it so stay tuned for that in the future.

ColdWinter: Haha thanks mate! But i doubt that i can beat the Golden Demon painters out there :)

So it is a long time since i did an update so here comes a big one!!

Ultramarines ive been working on for a client:

I remember you, Dark Ritual from Warseer isn't it? I followed your Khorne army over there and loved it. The Ogres you did were damn fine specimens too.

All the stuff in this plog is brilliant but I have to say your Emperors Children really top the lot. The purple is sweet as Mary and the contrast with the blue and red glowing effects is superb.

Keep this up please (I know you will as you are a Painting Machine).

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the terminators especially

Cheers

I'm not a great fan of Emperor's Children, but Your army is just eyecandy. The violet is great, and I agree with the opinion regarding the power claws, they seem to be painted with pure energy . Keep it up and provide us with more and more minis.

Also, what is Your recipe for the green of the Deathguard?

Hey all,
First of all a thanks!

It has been a bit quiet here lately but i did not sit stil! below are some pictures of some of the work i did the past 2 months!

Tominator: Here a tutorial for you.
First i start with a black undercoat. (shown as grey in the picture)
Step 1 - Then i mix lich purple with black 50/50 in my airbrush and start with the first layer. (see picture)
I airbrush this only on the places were the light would hit so i leave the recesses black. (Grey in the picture)
Step 2 - Then i put pure lich purple in my airbrush and layer this on top of the purple from step 1. (see picture)
Step 3 - Then i mixed White with the lich purple i have left in my airbrush 50/50 and spray this on top of the layer i did in step 2. (see picture)
Step 4 - After this is all done i wash the recesses and rivets with Nuln oil. (see picture)
http://www.scarsminimadness.nl/blog/ec/purple.jpg

Step 5 - When this is all done i give the whole model a varnish and start the edge highlighting with the same mix as in step 4. (50/50 mix White and Lich purple)
When i highlight these edges i keep in mind that the light source is above so i only highlight parts were light would hit.
Step 6 - Then as last step i do a final highlight with a mix of White and lich purple (95/5) again only parts were the light would hit the most with the light source coming from above.
Make sure you leave the highlight you did in step 5 visible.

I found a video on youtube that might help:
(this is not my video so credits go to ScaleModelMedic who made the video!)

Hope this little tutorial has helped you!

Now it is time for some pictures!!

Pre Heresy Deathguard:

Holy Emperor, this topic just screams of awesomeness! Not only the minis, but your kind responses to questions (step-by-step guides, etc.) is very good of you.

Can I ask you how much time did you spend on, for example, Death Guard army? From sprue to ready-to-photo stage. I'm intertested because I want to start little comission studio in my region and want to know how fast it is possible to finish projects of size like that.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliment!

As for the time that all depends on how fast you are... Im a pretty fast painted if i may say myself.. Dont know how fast you are... But the deathguard army is done in about 2 weeks of fulltime painting.
That is 76 cultists 10 raptors 12 chosen, charachters, dreadnaught and the fiend.
But again its all about how fast you are! :)

I'm slowpoke, but I've been in hobby only for 2 years know, so I think speed just depends on amount of miniatures already painted and develops in some time.

Does airbrush help a lot?  Thanks for reply :)

awesome thread,  those ecs look fantastic!

Out of interest where do you get your static grass pieces on the ec terminators from ?   Also how do you make your snow?

To be honest an tutorial o how you make those awesome bases would be ideal,  I know its a bit cheeky but worth an ask  :)
