Ok very first time posting here, however I have stalked many of the posts for a good long time. I have been working on this army since about 3 days before dirt (hint: forever) and I am in need of some CC. I have taken several pictures from different angles. His wings/backpack are only magnetized and I know the blue stuff is showing on the hand with the book and the staff. I am quite reluctant to glue them on permanently until I feel confident about the model. Thanks! P.S. Apologies in advance if there is a picture limit.

@ DA Thirst - thank you. I was going for a more demonic green, but I am still grasping straws in the paint dept.

@ HJL - Oh no worries I have plenty of photos planned but sometimes I tend to be a little scatte...oh look a blood thirster *runs off*

I am currently working on a daemon of sorts for the wb and will get a photo once I can get the (expletive) thing to stand properly for more than 2 seconds with blue tac!

Ok several photos here. First few will be of a WB daemon that is in between the "how do I want it to look" & "ok now to attempt some green stuff." The last few are of my WB that I finally think is ok (been messing it on/off for several years)m I get distracted easily... And yes I noticed the CAT fur on this model after I uploaded the photos. Seems to me I should just dip the :tu: models in elmers glue and then rub them on the felines (3) and maybe a canine (2). CC is greatly appreciated because it is always my goal to get better and learn new techniques etc. P.S. I want to say out loud that alot of these ideas come from places all over the internet, including here. I give all credit to those who offered their own inspiration and hope to offend none.

Here he is, in rough shape atm.

My son informed me he is making a ^_^ gesture /sigh Well anyways I intended for him to be holding a recently de-capitated bodie while the head was flying off the edge of the axe blade. Mucho blood and gore to be had for all!

gallery_60337_7702_333678.jpg

Sorry quite blurry as is the next one.

gallery_60337_7702_1177907.jpg

and now the cat fur covered test model >.< Guess I should add that the dead flesh colored *booties for lack of a better word* are my attempt of explaining these (my) troops have been foot slogging through billions of dead bodies over the years and instead of constantly cleaning the muck off, they started *fusing* it with their armor. Not decided wether I will go bloodier or right script on them as of yet. Ideas?

Yes they are legs from a tyranid figure that got a little too close at one point. So are the appendages on his side. I figure that the Tyranids absorb some DNA from the foes (or at least thats USED to be true) So the prince took a shortcut and just cut and paste to make things happen quicker, leaving ME with all GS that little ;) ! I will get her primered and the beginnings of some paint next week sometime when I am back home. In the mean time she can just cool her jet..erm sit and pout!

Yes, yes, it's all lovely, now where did you get that Crozius? Tell me. TELL ME NOW.

Od.

P.S. Love your conversion work, that's some great stuff. I especially like the four-armed daemon prince with Bloodcrusher head.

BUT SERIOUSLY THE CROZIUS WHERE DID YOU GET IT

  • 1 month later...

Ok just wanted to post some updates on the WIP daemon. He is no where near done but due to the powers that be (prolly chaos) I've had less time to work on it. Sorry for some of the pictures, just realized the pic of the axe is just entirely to shiny. C/C appreciated.

Thanks

Bungi

  • 1 year later...

Ok I am dredging up this ancient thread to show I do actually complete projects (eventually). I have been working on this model for a little over a year now on and off. Although I don't feel its 100% complete I wanted to put it up here and get some feedback. I was tying with the idea of giving the staff wrapped in flesh something more; maybe some litanies or blood? Anyways here she is for you to view and c/c is always welcome and appreciated!

Nothing like *microscopic* close up to show lines and paint splatter! whistlingW.gif

The Demon is absolutely over the top. I just feel like it is a tad too asymmetric. A touch of something bulkier on the side opposite his super-crozius could help the composition a lot. Not something as big as the crozius, but just a bit more bulk. I would try to break up the yellow a bit, too. Some of those lines you typically see extending along the scythes on Tyranids may have done some good. Striations? I don't think that's the right word...

@ Firepower -  thanks for the c/c.  I tried the scythes and spiky parts in a bone color scheme, like the groin cloth, but it also seemed very distracting.  As for the crozius, I feel it is a tad large but the other daemon weapons supplied on the sprue just seemed inadequate. I will endeavor to improve as always, thanks.

So I figured I'd post my final update for the Gal Vorbak here and just *try* to link it to CoC VI *crosses fingers*biggrin.png So to avoid an inevitable wall of text here they are:

@Blood - Thanks for the compliment. I imagined them being a *colorful* group without ending up looking like confetti.

@Geek -  Yes not quite sure where I developed the DNA thingy.  I remember joking with the LGC, back when I had a store, that IF the Tyranids actually were coming our way we would colonize a planet with cows. This would be our saving grace as by the time they got here, if they managed it, the would be docile plant eaters. We'd essentially have been invaded with black-n-white nids that mooed!

@Tanith - yes I am currently working on a less obstructive mace and deciding what to do about her yellow talons.  Maybe a white washing lol.

Thanks to all for looking and/or commenting.  It's very motivating!

Use a wash of sepia over the whole claws, then when that is 100% dry, wash the thicker parts near the body with a watered down 1:1 brown, like Devland mud, or earth shade, or whatever they are calling it these days. Highlight the edges with screaming skull, and then feather/blend it at the tip, also. Should keep the overall color, but take away some of the unnatural brightness.

I will most certainly try this idea thank you!
