Lorenzen
Been a while.. I've been trying to build my way through my WIP crap before i focus on too much painting other than vulkan whos deadline is approaching far faster than id like.. the fire is nowhere near where id like it to be.. so much work to do -_- and a load of stuff like the skulls and bits of trim are barely even started.. i need to get cracking! and last but not least Deus Interfectorum is slowly coming together, I think the shoulders will end up being red rather than bone but i need to figure out exactly what im going to do for them 1st.. the bone knee is going to be replaced with heraldry too.. hes currently a bit close to legio crucius rather than mortis if im honest! Olis
That's all looking pretty good so far, brother. Edit - I forgot to mention the pimp cane. Pimp Caaaaane! :P Edited September 17, 2015 by Olis Thousand Eyes and Lorenzen 2 Back to top
Soldier of Dorn
What's the pimp cane (as Olis has now dubbed it) from? I can't recognize the bits. Anyways, everything looks lovely.
Lorenzen
His pimp cane is made from a dark eldar skull bit and a sigmarine great axe handle with the devastator open hand resting on it. :) Thousand Eyes 1 Back to top
Lorenzen
Bit more work on Vulkan.. I think im going to struggle to get him finished by the space marine GD.. but that's the aim.. Atm his base is the most daunting thing for me i think as i always get told to bring more contrast and "pop" (hence why hes almost neon green rather than the more muted tones for everything else i paint) Fenbain, Checkmate, Dantioch and 1 other 4 Back to top
Kizzdougs
Looking great so far, bro! Can't wait to see him finished :tu:
Lorenzen
Me too.. He's taken far too long really but I'm hoping the end result will be worth it! Done some work on his base and a little more on him.. Starting to get a feel for how he'll look when hes finished. Also been scupting a helmet.. figured it was time i started project proper DG helmets again I've wanted FW to release uncorrupted plague marine helmets since the start of the heresy releases.. (Mark Bedford still has the original ones i think..) But seeing as that seems to be destined to never happen I'm just gonna do it myself! I've got a few butchered PM heads in the army already but i want a steady source so I shall attempt to cast this one once ive finished it. Lorenzen
bit more work on the head.. mainly tidying up things and smoothing stuff out, but i also started work on the spike. not an enormous update i know.. but im happy with how its coming along Checkmate, Chaeron, 1ncarnadine and 3 others 6 Back to top
disease
That helmet looks excellent - I'd certainly buy casts! How are you modelling the spike? Many of my FW helms have broken off and I'm yet to replace them
Lorenzen
I took a bit of a resin feed drilled a hole.in the head.. glued.it in place and started to sand it into shape.. needs to be more defined but got the basic shape done easier than trying to sculpt it disease 1 Back to top
ChaoticEric
Stunning work and I'm relieved to see a pile of "to be painted" similar in size to mine :) May I ask how you went about to paint the lovely base pf Vulkan? Especially the stones look stunning! Edited October 4, 2015 by ChaoticEric
Lorenzen
Most of the base was just sprayed with halfords grey over a black base, drybrushed with vallejo sky grey and then hit with multiple weathering powders (mig concrete, dry mud and a few of the fw earth ones (light and medium i think)

Dantay VI
I absolutely love the design work on the inner surface of the cloak, so intricate and subtle :) Lorenzen 1 Back to top
Kizzdougs
Amazing stuff, dude! I'm really looking forward to seeing Vulkan finished. The level of detail on him is phenomenal :tu: Lorenzen 1 Back to top
Lorenzen
Thanks guys, the cloak is something i knew what i wanted to do with the moment i decided i was going to paint him. It was a big blank bit of skin & some of the pacific island vibes the sallies have meant doing the cloak with that style of tattoo was a must. Lorenzen
More work on Vulkan.. Still feel as though this model is never ending and I've got a week left to do him =/ Dantioch, Kizzdougs and Xavier Targhost 3 Back to top
Rojo
Such a stunning job. You can do it, a week is heaps of time, we believe in you! Lorenzen 1 Back to top
Lorenzen
Glad somebody does! I've got some more work done on him today and am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've always struggled with getting enough contrast into competition models according to every judge ever.. So hopefully the big neon green man with flames should do it for them and i might actually get somewhere! redid the pteruges to get a little more colour into them.. though im unsure what colour i want the 3 gems by his waist to be atm. Lorenzen
Vulkan is now pretty much finished.. gonna be doing touch up work until saturday night i reckon.. But "as a whole" he is done.. Don't think i've ever spent this much energy on one model before, but hopefully he'll get some recognition and not be overlooked.. Anyone who is at the 40k open day feel free to come say hi.. Theres a high probability that ill have my online handle on my back during the day. Larkyn
I've always been a fan of your models, ever since I first saw your Fire Angels, and I have to say, that is the best Vulkan I have ever seen! Good luck at the GD!

Lorenzen
Another year another disappointment.. I'm not particularly impressed with some of the decisions that were made but theres nothing i can do about it. So onto something new to take my mind off it. figured i'd do something totally different so im doing quite a sharp "clean" Eidolon with NMM to pull me totally out of my comfort zone.. doing the base in entirely nmm will be a nice challenge.
