subtlebrush Posted October 26, 2012 Share Posted October 26, 2012 Hello my fellow spawns of Chaos. So I've come out of lurk mode and have decided to set forth on the path to Chaos. Thankfully I'm just in time for the latest Call of Chaos painting motivational thread which should light a fire under my procrastinating arse. With the release of the Dark Vengeance box set I knew it was time for me to get back to my true calling and so I begin this WIP thread. Gods of Chaos hear my call! I Mr.Malevolent hereby pledge my soul, my allegiance and that of my troops' of the Alpha Legion Cell 313, to Chaos Eternal. I swear to you that I will paint and present 1 Chaos Lord in power armour, 1 unit of 5 Chosen, 2 units of 10 Cultists and 1 Hellbrute of the Alpha Legion Cell 313, before January 18th, 2013. I also promise to provide a project update, at least twice per month. Unfortunately I wont be continuing with the Night Lords and will instead be going for Alpha Legion but I'm glad you liked him. Bit of an update. First things first, you may have noticed that the name of the plog has changed.... I have decided to change the Legion that I am painting. I'm switching from Night Lords to Alpha Legion basically because 1) everyone and their grandma seems to be playing Night Lords these days and 2) I found an awesome painting tutorial from Ron at From the Warp blogspot that utilises a unique zenith approach to painting Alpha Legion. Hope I havent dissapointed anyone with this major change but then again it is MY plog so.... Anyways a few photo updates. First we have the Chosen unit. I have decided I will be buying the new Chosen Aspiring Chump so the mace wielding Chump will turn into a Sorcerer once I finish the Call of Chaos challenge. Started stripping off the "mutations" that I dont like on them. Also changed the Lord (if you can tell), swapped out his backpack for an old metal Sorcerer snake backpack to give hime more of an Alpha Legion feel (more like I took the old star off and screwed up the original backpack :D ).... http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8199/8192773774_16823bdaf0_z.jpg Some WIP of the first layers of spray paint zenith approach. Definitely second the notion to hit him with some matte varnish though. You pulled off some fantastic freehand skills on the scales and symbol, dude. Really well done.
