The heavy support Rhino is for the breacher squad, my thinking that the breachers deploy near the heavy's, first turn they load up and ship out. This is because they can only take a LR as transport (though I am toying with that idea as well)

Praetor and command squad join the breachers in attacking the front line, followed up with tacts with CCW, support squads do just that, support and objective grab, along with other tact squad.

Also thinking maybe ML instead of autocannons, but I do love the thought of 10man autocannons :)

you still have a HS slot left, flakk havocs behind an aegis with a siege breaker (THE IW consul imo) manning the icarus lascannon are nasty against armor of any kind. Other than that, I recommend vexillae on any squad, since nobody is fearless or has ATSKNF. techmarine covenants with conversion beamers are fluffy, hard-hitting and cost not many pts. Fo artillery, think about medusae: S10 ap2 barrage sniping!

Forgot to mention the WW will be the hyperious kind, so plenty of AA :) Also the reason for the WW and not medusae is because I already have them, though it's tempting to get some more. I think though I'll wait until the next book comes out before I make any other purchaes (apart from the fellblade that is)

I was thinking Techmarines, but not sure where they'd sit, maybe with the rapiers?

Why ? MOAR MISSILES :)

As I understand it, Hyperios is really cheap but it's one shot only, and looks underpowered. A "Heavy 2" profile would have been more appropriate for a dedicated AA vehicle.

Ahh but the hyperious has both the skyfire and interceptor rules:

Skyfire

A model with this special rule, or that is firing a weapon with this special rule, fires using its normal Ballistic Skill when shooting at Flyers, Flying Monstrous Creatures and Skimmers. Unless it also has the Interceptor special rule, it can only fire snap shots against other targets

Interceptor

If a weapon has both the Interceptor and Skyfire special rules, it uses its full Ballistic Skill against all targets

but think I'd still want mk3 torso's. then gotta decide on heads and backpacks!

I think the majority of the armour types has to be decided by the time setting. When I put in line the Raven Guard I decided to go for the second part of the Heresy so Corvus armour could be chosen as the newly acquired.

My Ultramarines will instead be mostly a after-crusade army and so the majority will be MKIII. I could put in a good number of MK4 but I don't like it that much and by now it's hackneyed...

maxmini sells a medusa-like big gun, it would be easy to convert a whirlwind to be interchangeable. they even come with parts to fit a basilisk.

Not at the moment they don't, I was going to build a Typhon using it and a spare LR I have, but it's out of production until next year

mk3 armour was only used for specialist actions, boarding, zone mortalis etc and led to TDA, it'd be mk2 mainly, mk3 for specialist units, then mk4.

Of course saying that my Iron warriors will be mainly mk3, but then they're siege breakers -_-

Apologies, you're correct, it was the big momma cannon I was thinking of.

With regards to the medusa cannon, at 35 euros plus shipping, I'd rather spend the extra couple of quid and get a complete medusa kit for 40. But that's just me, I do look forward to seeing your conversion though!

And caprera, no need to feel like a noob, they're your models, have them as you like, you can always make up some fluff to say why they're all mk3 suits
