Guardians nurgle themed CSM (death guard, Pic Heavy)

I like to think the threads with many views and few comments are doing alright. Nobody's telling you to thin your paint and stuff ... :tu:

Honestly, I think you're pulling some phenomenal models in no time. I like everything! Your Daemon Prince is so awesome, I've just finished mine and I feel embarrassed to upload it here. (I'll have to though.) The wings go so well with it and the skin paint job is just brilliant; he looks like he's actually rotting away.

Your Plague Marines are awesome too. I think you've gotten the rust effect on the weapons just right. Am I guessing correctly that you're using some kind of weathering powder for that?

Cheers, JT

Nope, its real easy to do. its just boltgun metal with brown ink to give it a dark and decaying look and the foundation orange (don't remember the name) for the orange rust effect.

Tx for the feedback. I'm not that good of a painter (shaky hands :P ) and I'm always looking for pointers to improve my technique (like the tips firepower gave).

There are loads of great painters on this forum and its always nice to share in there experience.

Anyway, I finished Typhus today.

Now that i see the model in the pictures i see some stuff that needs some work (rust on the scythe, and some paint blotches)

Ive been playing with the idea to convert a forgefiend because i dislike the current model and this is what i came up with.

The idea is based on the forgefiend from the templars of doom army from rednekkboss.

Not overly sure i like how he turned out but i still like this one more then the original one.

Your stuff looks truly vile! Which I would say is mission accomplished!

It really looks creepy and sickly and stomach turning, which is quite a feat in my book! Lovely work on the rusts and the blood, especially the blood covered spine of the Hellbrute which actually does make me feel a little sickened.

I've just spent the last three lines telling you how disgusting your models look, you crazy Nurglers! In this case though disgusting is exactly what you were shooting for, fantastic work!

Love them!

James.

Thanks a bunch mate!

The army is starting to come together. I'm just waiting for a big forgeworld order to arrive so i can start on my havocs and bikers.

Finished another plague marine unit and i'm out of stuff to paint.

My local game store has a helldrake i have my eye on so that will be next. Just how to work out how to convert it so it looks better.

anyway, here they are. They are a bit of a lower standard then my other unit because i did them in between when i was painting the forgefiend.

Finished my helldrake and my defense line today.

I love this conversion (credit go to Marshalfaust on warseer) and it really easy to make.

I'm really proud of how it turned out.

Good work! Very inspiring for me personally as i'm starting a Vectors of Pox force (Doom Legion-turned-Nurgle), and I've been playing DoW2 from which I like the modern painting and modelling style.

Great Job with the conversions, especially on the Helldrake, it's very daemonic and I think that head suits Nurgle well. Papa will be jolly!

tx mate

Finished my 2 squads of havocs today. They almost drove me insane to put together but you got to love those forgeworld bits.

Been a while that i posted a update but a took a bit of a break from painting my Nurgle marines.

Finished my bikers last weekend. The picture is a bit crappy. I plan to clean up the verdigris a bit more cause its a bit much now i think.

I'm totally going to have to borrow this idea ;] I really love how you did this! I also like your Hellbrute and Forgefiend, I'm planning on giving my Hellbrute a single eye in place of the head =]

Actually, that's not gangrenous. Gangrene is a dark, nearly black, necrotic rot (and smelly, don't forget smelly!), whereas that's a pale sort of green...

I would post the wikipedia article picture, but it is fairly disgusting. Mild cases can indeed be a sallow or even greenish hue.

I wonder if anyone with gangrene of any degree ever thinks of it as a 'minor case.'

I guess Death Guard would. laugh.gif

But to steer things back on topic (as an apology for leading them astray): now that I look at them again, the bronze is kinda bugging me (I know, I'm so picky!). It's clean and flat, sort of a dull monotone. It could use some dirtying up, or highlighting...probably the latter, but I can't really think of how such a thing can be done with bronze. A dark wash or two could probably have some effect, but that'd just dull the tone more, rather than make it look 'nurgley.'

Hmmm... unsure.gif

When I recently repainted my 2006 Death Guard army the armour trim was painted with Tin Bitz, and the red weapons with Boltgun Metal. After that those items received a layer of Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust. They were originally painted like the plague marine box art so needed washes of Agrax Earthshade to make them dirtier. Vast improvement after the repaint!

Those are some sweet (disgusting) looking havocs. Assembling them with all those FW components must've been a nightmare - I know how difficult the FW plaguemarine torsos are - but I'd say it was worth it!

I can't seem to get back to my regular painting schedule but i did manage to finish this guy this weekend.

I may have rushed him a bit but i'm quite happy with how he turned out. The pictures don't do him justice though.
