It seems churlish to pick holes in work as good as this, but shouldn't this guy have a white helmet stripe?

Dont worry. I dont play any more and just paint for fun so you will find non fluff stuff and weapon load outs all over this thread. Any advice is greatly appreciated

The heads not fixed (you can see the blutac under the neck) so Im planning to take it off and paint laurels on the side (see the Sargent I did early on in this thread) I think that also counts doesnt it?

Glad to see you back to painting, Rich.

I can't say much that everyone else hasn't already. Gorgeous, breath taking, unfairly pretty, all fit the bill quite nicely ^_^

I'll have to try that "taking a pic thru the magnifier" trick. I have one of those ringy daylights myself.

Thanks everyone

Its good to be back and Im at it with a vengeance again

So while Im waiting for the GS to cure Ive started the base for my Land Speeder Storm and looked at salt weathering for my Fellblade.

This may need to go in a tut but here is my weathering results

Ive used my old baneblade turret that may well end up on my Valkyrie base

Firstly undercoat. Ive not bothered about clean up (it was an ebay purchase)

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/rbrewster101/IMG_3262_zpsc3197e10.jpg

Then spray brown, bit of black, bit of orange then dab orange on with a sponge

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/rbrewster101/IMG_3264_zps487b6701.jpg

Slap on some hairspray and salt (rock and fine salt)

In hind site I went a bit too far

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/rbrewster101/IMG_3266_zpscdb6e79d.jpg

Spray dark green, medium green and light green or whatever top colour you want

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/rbrewster101/IMG_3267_zps5658b6c3.jpg

Leave it to dry then use a brush and water to wash off the salt

On this one Ive added a few water streaks with a wash

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/rbrewster101/IMG_3268_zpscc05d85c.jpg

And the final version with a few features picked out and some of the bigger rust highlighted with dark and highlights (Ive not done the Aquila yet)

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/rbrewster101/IMG_3276_zpsc4db145a.jpg

I like the result but Im not sure I want to do my tank like this as it looks too old and dilapidated. I cant see a UM tank getting in this state

Here is the PDF base Ive started for my Storm so I'll use this technique on the bastion and barrels

Heres a mock up with the PDF in place

Im aiming for  numbers on the wall with the sergeant and radio operator at the back with the sergeant looking up as the storm flys over

I wanted to try and tie in that this is a PDF line so Ive used up some of the space in front with the addition of a marine.

I tried it behind the line in the middle but it looked wrong without him out in front

Ive given the base and wall a wash with mig pigment + vodka. I then sealed it with a spay of lathium medium. I then had the mother of all nightmares when some of the base frosted.

Ive had to re wash it and I think its ok now

Any way you can do a tutorial on that blue? I saw at some point it was written but didn't understand all of it. I want to do Ultras and these are the best that I have seen so far. Any help would be appreciated!

Ok, so after a 4 month break I thought Id ease myself back into painting with a gentle starter.....

So here we go.

This is the mostly undercoated version of my converted Fellblade. Im hopefully going to document and blog the painting and weathering process as Im going to try a couple of new techniques on this.

I think I remember seeing those turrets somewhere before... Blood and Skulls Industry, is it?

Thats right

I got the kit off their ebay shop. It wasnt cheap but it sure beefs up the tank.

Ive made a couple of mods to extend the barrel and add a sensor to the front so Im pretty pleased with how it looks now. Thats probably why Ive not hit it with paint yet!

Looking forward to more work from you.
