Captain Semper's Consecrators

Captain Semper

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I think this is high time for me to start a topic on my Consecrators here in the Hall of Honor. Concecrators allow for a very 30k looking force in the 40k context and since this project kicked-off before 'Betrayal' came out I thought it would be a great opportunity to use FWs excellent range without going all-out Heresy era.

Now the force itself has a heavy bias to MkV armour (my personal favorite) and no mixed types - so far at least. It is based around the 6th Company (Tactical reserve) with elements of the 1st and 2nd and soon to add elemets from the 8th and the 10th.

So with no further ado:

Thanks everybody for the nice comments! :thanks:

@ Oli: I know - my brush control is not where I'd like to be in order to take the risk to paint of text on scrolls. I plan to work on it and then: Word Bearer's here I come! :D

@ Firepower: Strange, I never considered that. My fear was to make the stripes too thick - so I was happy they came out as they are. After your comment though I looked at them again and realised you may have a point... Too Harlequin-y? Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! ;)

@ Brother Atrox: Beakies yeah - but i still have a fetish for MkV... The bases are from the Basicks "Old Factory" range and from Micro Art Studio "Trash" range. They used to be one company but now they are two.

@ Elmo and Stobz: Nothing you guys have not seen before - I just thought I'd post them in the Hall of Honor...

Gentlemen thanks again for your comments - more is yet to come (a MkV assault squad for one)! :)

Actually, partly because my laptop screen is pretty dirty, his leg looked more like a very unpleasant and disappointing candy cane at first glance.

But as an Unforgiven army you should've already known that your work will never be complete, no matter how hard you try. devil.gif

Do you know about the micro-pen trick? Maybe that might help. :)

Stunning army, love seeing the lesser known chapters, I'll admit I had to google 'Consecrators'. Big fan of all the stripes, very 'Rogue Trader' esque. Was a little disappointed that your landspeeder wasn't the old skool metal one but your scimitar jetbike made up for it.

How are you planning to do the chapter badges? Looks like a complicated one...

Thanks for sharing.

I must have missed the scimitar over on the DA board - love it! And everything else of course

That's the way to go. I've use black, but thinking of picking up sepia so they are a little more subtle.

Marvelous work! Very well done!

I like the Consecrators color scheme a lot. For me all that black is a daunting task (so is the red really...) and I can only congratulate you on how well it is executed and how consistent your results are. The banners are top notch as well!

But tell me: You are using masking tape for your red/black chevrons, yes? They are so envy-inspiringly clean and consistent... Also do you hand paint the red stripes on the marine helmets?

I would really appreciate all advice - particularily for vehicles - since I have had great difficulty in painting "tribal pack markings" on my SW vehicles.

Other than that I just want to join the astonished fan-choir and repeat how beautiful work all of this is!

I can't wait to see more!

-Pup

P.S. And it is heart warming, for a change, to see Unforgiven who don't wear a dress ;) *just kidding of course*

Thanks again for your kind comments guys!

@ Tyrannosaurus: Funny thing is I do have an old RW metal jetbike -but it's a :cuss to put together - trust me. I still value what little sanity I go left! :D

@ PupLord: Glad you like them. The red/black hazard stripes are made with masking tape of various widths. the helmet stripes are free hand using the old Mechrite Red as a base and highlighted with the old Blood Red. The result is quite bright red that contrasts well with the black. But good luck with the tribal markings - I think it's a daunting task... :) As for dresses, I was a bit fed up by my Disciples of Caliban army that has like three in each squad! So I went for a robe-less force...

@ Brother Sergeant Steine: Will they find their way to the table top? Not sure really... My (free) time is consumed by family and finding a 3 hour window to enjoy a game is a luxury I cannot afford - but you never know... Frankly this force was made with the rule of cool in mind, specifically it was the Contemptor's that inspired me to start a 30k-ish force back in 2011. I'm not sure how effective it will be on the table top...
