These are the first 2 photos from the process. The first are the 3 HQ models...a Praetor and 2 Centurians. Used mostly to test out the colors. The second photo is the first assault squad mounted and ready to be painted. hisdudeness Posted April 1, 2013 Author Share Posted April 1, 2013 The quality of the photos are lacking and there is some touch up that needs to be done. But my painting style is a pure tabletop quality, the models look better as part of a group and not great close up. The paint is not thick so much as an unsteady hand with fine details. As more HH models come out I maybe replacing/rebuilding the HQ models. Some of the clean up required is due to refining the 'white shadow' mix to get the look I want. For various reasons, I did not want to black line 93 models so I've started using Lahmian Medium with some Nightshade and Nuln shade mixed in. The mix flows pretty good in the low points, but 'stains' any points the brush touches. Once the models for the list is built, I can touch up as needed. The HQ models are the first models painted so I was not in the groove to the scheme yet. And at some point I will go bat-crap crazy with blood that the mediocre paint job will be hidden. Yea, the Death Company hand flamers are the only ones i have found...I just wanted to make sure before I tossed my money at the internet. Thanks for the input. A little pricey to get the amount I need (and all the leftovers), but one set comes with each 20 man bundle, so that cuts my bits buy down by half. I could have sworn I looked...They do kinda look like meltas at glance...that's my excuse. I have everything but the bodies painted for the 20 Ravengers, that is my project for the weekend. And to find my charger for my DSLR to put up some better pictures. I should be making the next FW order for the Destroyers this week. hisdudeness Posted May 1, 2013 Author Share Posted May 1, 2013 Thanks for the compliments! I love the clear bases. You have to see them in person to really get the awesomeness of them on the table. Most of the time the bases just disappear in the terrain making the models look like they are in a static display. I believe it is the best (and really cheap) choice for bases. I think I will put most future armies on these bases. I am trying to keep the blue as vivid as possible to really contrast with the white. That's why I haven't bloodied up the assault squad, at most I might add a real fine misting of blood. I have not thought of adding Khârn since he is not in the HH book, but I'm thinking about it now. I have the left over body from the Legion Champion that I could use... It wouldn't be hard to turn this into a traitor force that assaulted Terra. I have looked at adding other Legions to the group. Most likely just a squad or two of the iconic units and another squad that fits the feel of the Legion. Crap, there goes more money... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
