Tribalminers Badab Secessionists - LPC Vow 2013

So yeah, thought I finally get around to making this log of my Secessionist forces before I completely forget. Included in this of course is my LPC Vow

 

 

I, Tribalminer of the Blood Angels, vow on the honour of my Chapter (Lamenters) to paint and present at least 2 Units of Sanguinary Guard and Commander Dante (counts as) on or before the 31st of March, 2013. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done.

So I wanted a legal force to paint for this challenge. 

 

Now, one thing I didn't want to do was paint Gold in large areas. I tend to find it looks very bling, which isn't really what I was going for. Instead, I wanted the same yellow on these guys as on standard troopers, to allow the armour to look fancy, but also fit in with the rest of the force

 

To start, I did this

Otherwise, everything would go missing. I even switch the pieces from one segment to another after removing mould lines, then split the pieces between vital and non vital. Also means I can get distracted and do little bits and pieces on other projects (like the Mantis Warrior Scout Bikes)

 

I then tend to pose the models, just to try and get a feel of them. For these guys, I wanted to show off martial prowess, but also speed and agility.

The Top right dude was my tester, just to see how the scheme worked, who I had practically finished before I started planning the rest of the squad.

So I'm halfway along on my vow, with a mere 5 models to go. How hard can it be?

And yes, I have shamelessly stolen the names of these two from a particular book about Romans, but I'm allowed to because its in theme with the Astral Claws at this stage.

And I also wanted to experiment with painting black power armour in case I decide to throw some death company in, and I'd just finished Helion Rain, so I thought a Ravenguard Sternguard sergeant wouldn't be amiss.
