Redemptionist crusade themed guard army

I have a redemptionist crusade themed guard army.  I'm an expat living in China, so I don't have access to the bulk of the army on a day-to-day basis, but its perhaps 8-10,000 points or more.

Here are the photos I have now, I'll take more as time goes by - and I'll add to the blog as I paint.

Interesting theme brother - very commendable to go for this. Also some interesting conversions. They're almost... orky... smile.png

Your avatar makes me think you are a fellow redemptionist...

The plan was/is to have an army that is like an ill-organised lynchmob - almost orky, but not quite. In fact, there are a few looted Ork vehicles in the army - the colossus is one of them. i like the reversal of imperials looting Ork vehicles. At some point in the future I will use an ork dakkajet to make a MIG-15 vendetta as an interceptor. There is a MIG-15 in the park opposite where I work (and a larger plane - I do chin-ups off the rear 20mm cannon) so I have a pretty good point of reference.

So what exactly is a redemptionist guard army? Most people dont get a second chance in the Imperium so I was just curios about the fluff behind the army.

Redemptionists are an insane cult from Necromunda (originally) who follow the Imperial Creed to its inevitable conclusion and decide that they, personally, have a duty to cleanse the Imperium of all its heretical imperfections.

A Redemptionist Guard Army would presumably be an extension of the Frateris Militia - regular people, not soldiers, who are whipped up into a frenzy by the priests to form an overwhelming force that sweeps away Evil in a tide of flame and auto-rounds.

I have painted the turret of baneblade number 00 - 'Derp Dastardly'

The rest of the baneblade will come later, when I have restocked on black paint.

Here's some kids using a MIG-15 as a climbing frame.

Also in the park is a PT boat, a T-34/83 and a short range nuclear missile.  Chinese parks are way better than English ones.

Looks like a light bomber of some kind...

*checks*

Yep. Ilyushin Il-28. Given it's location, it's probably a Harbin H-5 though. Basically the same plane, but Chinese-made. Cool, thanks for sharing. ^^

Baneblade 00 'Derp Dastardly' is now finished. There will be additional tank riders and gunners using heavy weapon teams, but i don't have the models for that in China.

Mama Crassus just gave birth to.....

A bouncing baby centaur

The two crew inside are fully painted, but its really awkward to get them to show in a photo without flash, which makes the rest of the model look bleached out.  I didn't put the DKOK passengers in, as it would look strange as they are for transporting platoon command squads.  (objective stealers...)

These centaurs are small.  Its footprint is only an iota bigger than the 5 bases of the men it transports - perfect for running around and hiding from aggression, biding time before a late game objective troop drop.

I think I am going to really enjoy using these little tanks.

Okay, time for a little product review.

After making my baneblade my eye was caught by the KV2 style 'Tinnelon pattern tank turrets' over at Anarchy Models.  So I bought 3.

The resin is good (it seems heavier and denser than FW resin) and the quality of the moulds was also top notch.  Even though I washed them, there was little mould release on the models and you probably could have painted them from the packet.

There are adaptable turret rings that fit different styles - I have a FW Mars alpha style russ and 2 new style russ bodies, hence the 2 sizes of turret adaptor here.

I assembled them as demolishers - though there is a longer barrel cannon that as-is makes a great vanquisher, and can be hacksawed down to battle cannon length.  The turrets are very plain when assembled, so you need to throw some towage etc on them to liven them up a bit.  These are after being thrown in the bots box to see what would stick.

Here they are finished, and:

Here are the 3 demolishers updated with a little more gunk and weathering to fit in with my newer style of painting.

Overall I'm glad I bought the 3 turrets.  The 3 of them are a tad shy of 50 quid - they are quite pricey - but the material and mould are top notch, and they do look unbelievably badass on the tanks once painted.

I almost thought this was an Ork army at first, such a vast array of customisation! I really like the Bassie/Medusa conversion using the Baneblade turret, that's inspired. I'd paint some flames onto my collection of Hellhounds if I thought I could do it any justice, got any tips?
