Liked Grimaldus, his paintjob is ace!

The old metal model, still gives me much joy, spend my fair time painting the bastard (bout 2 nights or so).

I cant seem to be able to finish not even a tactical marine in less than three days. And I don't consider myself a good painter mind you.

I'm at about the 'average table' level (in my own opinion mind you) and if I decide to 'sit down' I do between 10-15 Terminators or equivalent in a single day. Vehicles depend on size and detail.

As an example my Stormtalon took (excluding dry times) around 2-3 hours to do and weather, the LRC around the same but my average HQ takes 5-6 because I'm hellbent on making it look slightly above the rest, meanwhile a neopythe is roughly 1 hour or so.

Well, assuming you keep the armor basecoated black and highlight it, it could be done (even then I doubt I could though). If you add more layers on it (sorry cant really tell from the pics) you have to be a superhuman to paint 15 in a row. I am impressed to say the least on both accounts :D

My general build routine is 7.2.1. (references~ woo!)

I clean then trim the model, prime it grey (local concoction thats fairly thin but covers it proper and ain't to expensive.

Then I use (mostly) Vallejo paints, black first, then a thin coat of white (pads etc.) following that a slightly dirty white, I coat this with their sepia (thin it down enough and it looks old and yellowy) then deep red for the eys/some seals ontop a more crimson followed by a dab of orange and white.

Buff for most seals, I smother it in sepia which gives it a nice old paper (almost papyrus) color, this is the bulk of the body generally, then grey on things such as the iconography which gets a black wash and silver/gunmetal for vents, gun parts and the chains (also followed by a wash).

then I mix the black and grey to a .5/1/1 formula of black/grey/water and I line it with that, some mild touchups with black then it's grey for the base followed by hobby snow which I usually do when I have 4+ models ready.

White paint does not a snow base make.  At least it looks like it's just white paint in the pics...

Not a bad job. You've made a good compromise between quality and quantity: a (very) large force at an average-ish  TT standard.

And Grimmy deserves that extra time investment ;) A proper centerpiece HQ is practically a must for any army.

And of course, opening a painting blog thread with a pic of a locator beacon wins an easy laugh :teehee:

It's hobby snow I spouted that somewhere above, but I agree the quality + lighting does make it look like white (it's actually codex grey with the snow smashed on top and looks better in person).

Now to model and paint a FP Reclusiarch somewhere...

Very nice, particularly the bikes.

The inscription on the flagpole reminds me, I plan on painting "GET SOME" onto the dozer blade of my Vindicator.

These are really impressive, especially considering your average paint times, which make me very jealous. I like the dirty white you've used, and the red accents help to tie the army together without being overdone. I really like the unified, gritty, gonna-get-up-in-your-face-and-get-brutal look.

Hmm, something about your latest decisions in painting and modeling seems...familiar. :teehee:

Not half bad.  What is going on with the bike bases though?

Place holder bases, ran out of bike bases so I was forced to use what I had on me (Fantasy bases for horses).

I did borrow the bike idea from the BnC, might be yours (I know you have a similar thing)

I almost missed that one of those bikers is a chaplain =)

I'm also glad that i'm not the only one who is using more red on their fast attack models.

Good eyes, he is indeed a Reclusiarch, I got the model from a friend yonks ago and decided I may as well incorporate it on my spare/empty bike.

My over priced, probably not even legal at some point Command squad bringing teh awesome!

Fixed that for you.

Excellent crusade brother, you should be proud and may they smite an untold number of the unholy who  would challenge the empire of our beloved Emperor.

Well done.

Hmm, yeah, the studs on the shoulders on the first squad are just too darn big! I love regular studded shoulders, but those... ugh!

Anyway, I hope my own Crimson Fists turn out as nice as yours. Already bought the appropriate paints. Only painted one non-black model so far, and that was a filthy Ork!

For whatever my newb paint lvl advice is worth.

Citadel Kantor blue > Citadel nuln oil > Valejo prussian blue

It's slightly lighter then the normal Crimson fist colors (which seem to be a slightly lighter shade of Kantor blue) but it's darker then Ultra and works decently (for me).
