"Born to compete" - HH World Eaters [Update: Nov 23rd 2013]

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

as pre heresy threads seem to be very popular and interesting and inspiring these days, I thought I am going to share my World Eaters with you guys too.

There are a lot of HH threads around here, which were really inspiring and helpful to start and develop my own take on a Horus Heresy army.

So why World Eaters ? Well to be completely honest with you guys, I got to the gladiatorial theme by the new "Spartacus" series on Starz and that kept my mind hostage for a long time and finally I said to myself: "what does fit into this specific theme ?! Angron & his sons !"...

I am starting this thread to (hopefully) get some feedback and advices on how to improve, to keep my motivation over the time and probably inspire some other gamers and painters to go for their take on a Horus Heresy army... :-)

But, enough words, I am pretty sure you want to see some pictures as well ;-)

So here we go with my latest work:

As I was not able to ignore the Abaddon & Loken diorama at all, I went for a conversion of both characters to fit into the WE theme. I named the diorama "trial by combat" (supposed to be a duel between 2 WE senior officers for rank and honor within the Legion).

World Eaters senior officer:

Some command squad members:

Well, posting all these very huge pics kinda *****... and the gallery does not work ?!

I promise to find a solution to share the other pics with you !

Expect an update this weekend.

Any comments and criticism very much appreciated !

Cheers,
AT

Absolutely brilliant mate. Like you, every time I see Spartacus I want to translate it to the table top but haven't really been able to work out out how, but you have a managed to do a brilliant job. Can't wait to see more.

P.s. at the begining of the latest series when Spartacus bludgeons a roman legionnaire with an Aquila, all I could think about was a chaplain doing the same to an Ultramarine.

Very characterful and interesting conversion you have created there.  Where is the cybernetic left arm from on the Loken model?  It looks sufficiently brutal yet functional to be a WE replacement limb in my opinion.  The rest of the officers look great as well.

I love Heresy World Eaters.

Blood splatter = AMAZING

Weathering = AMAZING

Smooth white = HERESY

Only thing I pick up on and it is very minor is that the bolt pistols don't look as "finished" as the rest of the models?

But that could just be me. woot.gif

Hi Guys,

cheers for the positive comments, glad you like em ;-)

The blood effects are made with the good old Tamiya Clear Red and some Vallejo Black (Model Air - no particular ratio, tried until it felt "right").

The bionic arm on Loken is from the maxmini bionic upgrade sprue.

Ok, I spend the morning taking some new pics and I hope the links are working (just click on the small images to get to the bigger ones...)

Well, lets start with the Primarch of the World Eaters - "The Red Angel" - Angron:

Ok, as I have to get um in 5 hours to go to work, I will have to upload the other pics tomorrow / later today ;-)

Good night everybody.

If your contempt or were in war hounds colors that is totally how I see Lhorke!!!!!

Also that is one of the best paint jobs on Angron I have seen!

Cheers mate, I have just finished Betrayer and might add old Lhorke later on to my force ;-)

Mate, there are no words I can express that can say how awesome and blood hungry these World Eaters look! I can't wait to see more, are you planning on a full scale army?

Thanks mate, actually I intended to field them as a full army in some games. But until now, I have not fielded them once and there is no game on the horizon yet. But so far I own ~ 50 Marines and some more are still on the way. So far ~ 3000 points, but unfortunately not all of them in the high standard I would like to have em (you will notice a decrease in standard with the MK IV Marines)

drool.gif top notch WE, just the way I like them - getting down and dirty devil.gif Nice white/blue combo you have going on.

Thanks mate, I really love (is that appropriate to say about Space marines ?! ;-) ) your Flesh Eaters !

Well, here we go with some more pics:

2 more Captains / Centurions / Praetors:

Some MK II & III Marines:

Land Raider Spartan

And as mentioned the MK IV Marines (slightly decreased standart of painting, but as I had 30 of them to paint I got kinda bored with em... °_° )

VERY NICE.

Helps me visualize the World Eaters as a pre-heresy legion.  Also, really nice to see blood and gore done correctly (e.g. to scale and in the right places).

Lastly, I really like the blue, white, red, and gold  colors together.

Well done man.

I *love* the praetor with the sword and the swagger it gives off.

My only quarrel with it is that it looks he's sniffing his armpit......

How did you do the modified mkIV armor for him? Is it green stuff or 3rd party bits? :D

Cheers guys, your feedback does mean a lot to me ! It really helps me to stay motivated !

It's not that complicated, it is just the new (imho overpriced) WH Fantasy Chaos Lord with the FW MK IV helmet with crest. No green stuffing on this one, just had to remove some Chaos insignias on his right shoulder and added some of the WE etched brass from FW, thats it...

Very nice. I like the loken conversion. Have you also converted abbadon?

The spartan is a great conversion. Very brutal looking and fits perfectly with your world eaters.

I have done Abaddon as well, but unfortunately I am anything but pleased with him (first try ever to paint that type of sword with an airbrush)...(Iphone pics by the way, so no good pics either...)

And as this is a WIp thread, I might have to post some WIP pics as well ;-)

Lets start with some Terminators (I am kind of struggle with the, started to convert them a month a go and got them up to this point but don't know how to continue now...)

Up next my future Rampagers:

Outstanding work.

I really love the bloody handprint on the helmet.

And the conversion from the WHFB Chaos Lord is inspired!

Very much looking forward to seeing more.
