Next twenty Death Guard Tactical marines base painted, assembled and ready to receive some washes. Well, after I've touched up a chip I've just noticed on one of the guys at the front ;)

Yes, there are two vexilla in there. In truth the first twenty were actually the first halves of seperate squads with subtle differences in the decals.

These, then, will make up the second half to each twenty man Tactical squad.

That's after a mixture of washes or? Seems just Mud on the cream plate, right?

Thinking of having a 50-60% watered down wash as the last layer on mine, looks better on Iron plate than on mark IVs and such though.

The Medieval Congress at Kalamazoo meant that things went a bit quiet for a bit, but now back on track with 7 more Tactical Marines, including a Sgt and Vexilla. Looks like I've settled on the 3rd Great Company for now ;)

I also decided to sign-up for E Tenebrae Lux for:

1. Praetor in Cataphractii Armour

2. 5 Deathshroud

3. A Tactical Support Squad of ten marines with Volkite Calivers

4. An Apothecary

5. Comtemptor Dread

Now, apparently you are supposed to show some 'before' photos. I have everything but the Praetor so all will depend on the FW release date...

Is it me or do a couple of the Deathshroud look like they are casting spells!

Next batch of seven. I trialled a green wash over the brass and am very happy with the results. Looks like I'll have to go back and do the rest whistlingW.gif

Last six of the Tactical Marines that made up my pre-ETL II efforts:

and the first of my oath bound troops. A veteran apothecary - okay he's not quite finished as I don't have a Mk IV Death Guard pauldron yet, but he's nearly there:

Next in line are the Deathshroud whistlingW.gif

and here they are. Not totally convinced I've finished as I may return to them with some more transfers and reconsider the 'lighting' surrounding the helmet:

Here's the group shot of my completed ETL vow, some updates on previous work (transfers on the Deathshroud, a 360 of the MkIV apothecary), and, of course, the ten Cataphractii:

Beautiful stuff as ever Durfast! smile.png Those termies are awesome and the treatment of the plasma really stands out!

So any plans as to what's next? This is really a very individual approach on the DG - I really wouldlike to see it grow further! thumbsup.gif

(also you do not need to carry the full banner AND the medallion - each an either/or thing really. The medallion is there to help economise on signature space laugh.png )

It's an overcompensation thing whistlingW.gif

Next up are a ten-strong Legion Destroyer squad with JPs and a Moritat, after that I'm not sure.

If rumours are correct on the specialist termie squad, then I'll add them, as well as a couple of vindies, and Mortarion in due course.

... and I'm sure I'll end up buying something from the FW stall at Betrayal this weekend yes.gif

I paint the basic colours of all parts on the sprue, as well as the first wash, Vorion. Then assemble the figures, touch up the paint and finish off washing before moving on to highlights etc. This is the first project where I've tried this method and it's an excellent way to get through large numbers of basic troopers quickly.

I still do the individual figures my old way: part assemble, paint, fully assemble, finish off.

Thanks for your interest smile.png

I do much the same but mount the parts on 1.5 inch finish nails. Upper and lower bodies are the only thing I put together. I found it takes longer to paint but you can get details that would be hard to get otherwise. I also try to find spray paints (or combinations of spray and washes) for the base colors.
