The art of sisters

That third pic in Fibonacci's post looks like someone. Not sure who though. Gonna bug me for a while that. Definitely used someone famous for a reference image.

Kerra Thrace maybe?

In fact the likeness to Kara Thrace from BSG TV series (or the likeness to the actress who played her) is considerable.

The 5th image of the last post (post number 79) is an interesting armour Pattern. Obviously not a very realist power armour but a cool one nevertheless

EDIT:

Th 6th image is also a good one and it's even more "power armoured styled"

I'm personally not a fan of any art that attempts to sexualize a Sister; in particular, the Sister with the top of her chest bared brought this to mind. That's a great place to put a knife or a bullet, so all power armor I've seen really bulks up there. In fact, a lot of Sister armor has high neck-fronts, even covering up to the chin with a full on bevor.

Selah, Brother.

Keep the slaanesh away please.

Usually better art without slaanesh involved anyhow.

I only made a comment on an art work; one, for the records I neither made nor I posted. If I cannot post such a comment let me know. I'm not here to create problems. I just thought I could post a comment; one which didn't violate the forums rules.

I fail to see where slaanesh is involved.

Plus wings for no good reason.

The wings on the Kopinsky art are transparent and clearly not literal, people. >< Celestine is not a mutant freak!

I have my own ideas about the saints. Do you know the ENGEL RPG by chance?

In the flooded, quasi-medieval Europe of 2654, massive islands are the domains of the orders of the Angelitic Church. The Engel, seemingly the angels of Judeo-Christian belief, patrol the skies from their fortresslike Heavens, ceaselessly striving to defend the people of Europe against the hordes of the verminous [Dreamseed]. The eternally youthful  Pontifex Maximus in Roma Æterna, in Italy, presides over a bureaucratic and autocratic church, having combined religous and secular power into a perfectly integrated whole. Within its dominion, dark riders take a ithe of every village's children for the  unknown purposes of the church. Many of the cities have broken away from the direct command of the Church, coming under the sway of Junklords  (Diadoches) who keep alive what remains of antediluvian technology. In the face of very real and very quantifiable evil, the people of Europe increasingly turn away from the direct political, cultural, and spiritual leadership of the church. As the numbers of the Engel plateau, players must navigate politics, war, and faith as the guardians of Europe.

So the church in that game uses these children and turns them by mentioned antedilucian technology into angels, complete with the ability to fly and even use divine powers by implanted bio technology. Usng drugs and brainwashing the poor kids believe they are actually real angels sent down to help the church

I would not be surprised if the 40K church does the same with their Saints. Grab a wounded Soriritas pump her full with drugs, use a sanctioned psyker to give her some false memories, add some lost tech and bio ware (Wings) and BINGO another Saint!

Also having wings in 40K does not automatically turn you into a mutant, ask the Blood Angels about that!

Any artwork depicting Sisters in a way that over-emphasizes their attractivity is at times categorized as "Slaaneshi" in nature; the reason being that "Slaaneshi Sisters" are a thing that comes up every so often. It's a debate I *really* don't want to see rear its head in here, so I don't want us to get into it. <3 Just commenting on my preferences for aesthetic.

No one seems offended (I'm certainly not and no one else has said as much) and no rules have yet been broken in this thread that I've seen. If rules are broken I'll don my moderator hat and my text will become that orangy-orange you've all grown accustomed to. :smile.: Well, some of the images are a touch big, but that kind of thing can hardly be avoided in a rampant art-sharing thread. No one seems to be having trouble with it so far; we Sisters aficionados are few and an easy bunch.

Keep the art coming. <3

Ok... but my comment was inspiered by the Green/Red/Gold combination of the armour and weapons, which is quite rare among SoB color schemes, and the jet pack which seems, from the image point of view, to bear some similarity with the Great Crusade patterns of jet packs ( a closer look suggests it's like a visual effect but when I first saw the jet pack I had the impression ;) ).

That's why I was puzzled when I read the "slaanesh" comments....

I'm not very familiar with the Ecclesiarchy fans community, I frequent the Astartes sub-forums mostly, but if an image, intentionally or not, show an attractive SoB(or someone make a comment on her attractiveness) the community categorize it like a slaaneshi one and feel disturbed?

Now that I know it I'll keep it in mind in order to not hurt the feelings of the community itself. Honestly I had no idea. I don't want to hurt other persons feelings.  I simply had no idea of the general behaviour and believes of the community. As I said I don't frequent this sub forum often.

I think it's more of a case that we find the concept tiresome and usually invoked for a cheap laugh. Not so much 'attractiveness' but 'sexualisation'.

The fluff used to note them as functionally incorruptable, which is part of a specific issue with chaos sisters as a generalised concept, though we have seen some decent treaments if I recall this correctly, dedicated to Tzeench and Khorne.

We've never seen Sororitas with long hair in official art, have we?

I'm guessing the short hair is a consistent design touchstone.

I don't think I have. While I'm personally a fan of girls with longer hair (though some girls with short hair are to die for ), I think the shorter hair of the Sororitas is there for two reasons: practicality and increased monastic "feel"/influence.

I have an image of a Sister with long hair. It's a very pretty picture, but it doesn't look like a Battle Sister, if you see what I mean? Since I downloaded it with a serial number, I renamed it to "Too nice to be a Sister". heh.

The bob cuts are traditional, I guess? They're like a feminine version of a Friar's tonsure.

As for the picture that caused the recent contention, I like the colour scheme, but object to the low neckline and Astartes-style jump pack. But then, I've never understood why people don't like the standard Seraphim jump pack. I think it's the best looking jump pack in the game. ^^;

I agree, despite my preference for longer hair on the ladies. And that's an aesthetic preference based on taste anyway, something that's likely not even on the Sororitas' radar.

Still, if I was doing Sisters, I'd be GSing like crazy.

Problem is more when it doesn't make sense on what is being drawn.

Another good example would be some of the "armours" in WoW (read chainmail bikini).

Cleavage on a character supposedly in full battle-dress just doesn't sit right with what it attempts to portray. A near-nude sister repentia, on the other hand, would cause less objection since they're ritually stripped of armour as punishment.

Anothr problem I got with that picture in particular is how the midrif-piece of the armour doesn't seem all that protective either. Nor that it looks as if there's power armour underneath.

But then, I've never understood why people don't like the standard Seraphim jump pack. I think it's the best looking jump pack in the game. ^^;

Well, the winged ones that the BA Honour Guard get are also pretty nice.

Are you obsessed with such thing? You talk about  it very often....just little humor :tongue.: no offence intended

I'm under the impression most of the times you are trying to "troll" me into philosophical discussions, which are highly debatable, from any side ... I don't feel offended, I just wanted to tell you what I was thinking

Cleavage on a character supposedly in full battle-dress just doesn't sit right with what it attempts to portray.

But there is an official artwork like that on pag. 94 of Fantasy Flight Games book "Blood of Marthyrs". It's not an "active battle armour" though but the style is exactly the one you are talking about

Actually it was the reason of my positive comment. Even though I appreciate he "aesthetic look" I was refereing to the color scheme.

On the Jump Pack: there is nothing wrong with Seraphim jump packs. I'm a very curious, most of the times inquisitive, person so I like to explore and find new variations on a given concept, that's why I liked the alternate version of the jump pack.

EDIT:

Now that I think about it, I remember I read something saying the Space Marine Jump Pack would not work at its best if connected with a non SM armour, namely no black carapace.

I think it' something about the power sources durtation. So a different jump pack pattern may be more useful for SoB... however the alternate jump pack looked cool.

I don't remember the source but since I'm reading several 40K RPG books in these day I can say I could have read it in a FFG book.

I'm currently printing said parts for model :laugh.:  There are eleven pages (the module has the non helmet head as a separate file, so at least another page as well)

I'll have to get some paper glue and have a go at some point :laugh.:

I look forward to it!

Also not a Sororitas per se, but still acceptable in this thread i think:
