Tenshi's Dark Angels - ETLII

I'm opening a new thread to post my WIP miniatures for ETLII.

Here's what I'll be bowing to begin with.

There's Seraphicus (125pts) plus a 5 man DW squad. I'm not 100% sure about the 2 minis on the back. I might change the lightning claws for thunder hammers and/or the legs. Also, I'd like one of the boys with TH/SS to have a Cyclone Missile Launcher.

Any advices? Once I'm decided on the loadout I'll make my first bow.

Also, do these Shoulder Pads have any meaning in particular? Or can I use them in any DW?

I never knew that, Grotsmasha - kind of cool I guess.  I've got them on some of my Characters - Bone White Pauldron with a Green Stripe for my Librarian - Haven't painted any sarges with them on.

Best,

Paul

Part of the bow done:

I might touch up a little the DA symbol on the cape, but other that that I'd say it's finished. I'm really happy with how it turned out. And best of all, it didn't take me forever to finish it. They're mobile photos, so not very good.

The termies aren't even primed yet. I hope to finish the prep work during the week and be able to start painting some of them this weekend.

The one on the right is/was Belials personal heraldy from his time as Captain of the 3rd. Black with red stripe.

Cheers,

Jono

Or it's just a stripe :P

I paint that one bone with a red or green stripe.

WIP Update:

This is what I've been able to do this weekend. The first termie is almost finished, I believe. It's the first Deathwing I've ever painted. As you can see on the background the others not so much.

Also, I'd like to share something with all of you. While not part of my ETL vow, they're the reason I decided to join:

I was a 2nd Edition player that came back recently. And these are the first marines (an minis) I've painted in years. Still not finished, but they were getting harder and harder to finish. I believe I was burnt out... trying to paint 20 minis at once was too much.

So I hope to have fun painting for the ETL and then come back to finish these with new energy. And this time, 5 a time.

They all look awesome sauce. Best of luck with your vow.

By the way, what are they all standing on/against in the photos?

Cheers

Thanks everyone.

@Isiah: It's my homemade photo stage. Actually, I did it on a lunch break at work, but don't tell anyone.

I'm basing my DA with a Aliens-like (1986) theme with a mix of bases from Secret Weapon (great company, btw).

And I wanted a background that matched the bases for the photos. I just googled for some sci-fi videogame textures and created a compo in Photoshop. Added some acid-drop holes from an Alien (1979) still to the ground, some SM recruitment posters and an Imperial Aquile to the wall and presto!

They're a pair of printed A4 papers glued to 5mm foam core boards and cut to size.

The squad looks great, I really like the use of the bionics, seems appropriate given the alien style theme acid for blood an all.

So the background is just card, I thought those lights in the background were actually real.

Great Stuff!

A small update, I believe I'll finish my first vow this weekend but yesterday I got my order from FW, and I'd like to show my future Belial smile.png

http://back2hobby.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/belial.png

As a lot of people, I don't like much the Belial mini, so I wanted to build my own. My first idea was to use the DW Knights box to build it, then I decided to give him a Cataphractii armor to make him stand out. And before I made my order I saw the FW Legion Praetors preview... gorgeous minis, I wanted them. So I decided to wait until they were released

I don't know if I'll vow it for the ETL, as it's an important mini and I'd like to take my time with it, both with the conversion and the painting. I plan to magnetize it, so if I end up vowing it, it'll be with TH+SS (to scrap a few extra points wink.png )

Edit: no more bows, just vows :P

Been working on my termies. Just need to do some touch ups on the sergeant's shield and feathers and I'll have my vow (stobz msn-wink.gif) finished.

I've found the first two DAs I ever painted (a couple millenia ago), here they are:

http://bytenshi.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/legacydas.png

They look horrible biggrin.png

I was really young when my fathers bought me the 2nd Ed Boxset. I painted them as BAs because thats how they came painted on the box. I bought the Angels of Death Codex for the BAs, but after reading the DAs fluff and looking at Azri's mini I fell in love with the DAs.

Azrael was the first DA I ever painted (and like the 4th~5th mini), he's side by side with the first mini I painted when I came back to the hobby at the end of last year. The old minis look so small compared to the new ones I couldn't believe Azrael still had the same mini! He looks so unepic now...

I was looking for the watcher in the dark through my old minis to use it and convert a new Azrael, but I've only found Azrael.

I've bought the standard bearer because the sculpted standard looked cool. Then I realized he was also from the old minis, so he's going to look shorter than the rest of the CS. Well, I'll try to distract the attention a little so it isn't very noticeable. It's one of the first Finecast minis I buy. I was a little scared after all the horror stories I've read about finecast, but they were pretty fine, wait for it-- casted teehee.gif
