Lord Sondar's Blood Angels ETL II Failed Vow Updated 7th Apr

Recommended Posts

I Lord Sondar answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and
vow to complete five Scouts, five Vanguard Veterans and a Librarian from
Codex: Blood Angels of total value 435 points on or before August 15th.
Success will bring eternal glory to the Blood Angels and failure will doom me to bear the
Badge of Shame until the year-end
.

Welcome honoured Brothers to my work in progress page for my first vow.  I have been building these minitures like a crazy man since ETL II started and their just about ready to be hit with the primer.

Vow I All

The total contents of my vow.

Scouts

Scouts with shotguns.  I know, not a game changing unit but I have always wanted to paint up a unit of Scouts with this armament and I decided now was the time.

Librarian

Librarian with jump pack and force staff.

Vanguard Vets

Vanguard Veterans armed with (from left to right) Thunder Hammer, Power Sword and Bolt Pistol, Sergeant with Glaive Encarmine and Bolt Pistol, Power Sword and Bolt Pistol and Storm Shield and Bolt Pistol.
Now I have posted this picture I have noticed a few things I will add, like grenades and a helmet on the belt of the Thunder Hammer Vet but in general they are ready for priming.
These have been great fun to build and are my favorite Blood Angels unit I have assembled so far.  I can't wait to get started.

I'm going to use this thread to keep me on track and aim to update my progress regulary.  I usually paint slowly and need to keep at it to have any chance of getting done in a reasonalble time frame.

Update time!

Sorry it's been longer than I expected, I have managed to do a bit of work every night but thought I'd post an update once there was something interesting for people to see.

Here are some pictures of the progress I've made on the scouts. I've been working solidly on them, I am a huge hobby butterfly (I usually flit from one thing to the next, depending on which pretty thing has my attention at the time) and am determined to finish one thing before I start the next.

Here are some pics.

I have always wanted to create a unit of scouts and make them look like special ops, working behind enemy lines types. The image of the BA scout from the codex entry has been a big influence, I know that shotguns might not be the best loadout but I call Rule of Cool! What is cooler that combat shotguns, really...

I have never seen the sense in the brightly coloured scouts we get from 'Eavy Metal, I know the whole honour your wargear arguement but these guys are deep in the thick of it and will take any advantage they can get. My terrain is mostly of an urban type, so I chose colours that would compliment. I have tried a multi tone urban camo on some guard before and found too many colours just made the miniture look too busy. My goal is for them to actually blend in to my terrain, hopefully they might avoid a turn of shooting once in a while ph34r.png .

Any comments and feedback are greatly appreciated.

I spectacularly failed my ETL II vow but I'm determined to get these miniatures finished before I start "painting", cough part of the ship, part of the crew anything else.

I managed to get the scouts finished awhile ago but haven't managed to get any pictures take until now.

I'm hugely proud of the faces, first time I've tried painting stubble.  It really helped make the Scout heads look better, I painted them as a bit of a challenge and think I pulled it off.  The blonde Scout was a test for a certain famous character, from a forgotten time, that's something for my hobby future though.

The Scouts have proven extremely useful removing Fenrisian Wolves and generally appearing in the backfield messing up SW1's plans.

More updates soon
