Grotsmasha's Conversion Challenge 2: Librarians

Recommended Posts

Welcome one and all to Grotsmasha's Conversion Challenge 2: Librarians, the second challenge, back by popular demand.

If you didn't catch Chaplains, you can check them HERE

So the premise is pretty simple, you have 1 month to kit-bash a Librarian for your army or display following the rules outlined below.

RULES:
1- The finished model is not to be painted, the conversion should be bare plastic/resin/metal, the small odd painted piece stolen from a previously painted model is OK.
2- Must have a Psychic Hood and Force Weapon, doesn't need to be codex legal, rule of cool here.
3- Maximum of 25% existing models in Metal/Finecast, and any Plastic Independent/Named Characters:
---25% consists of the following combinations;
--- Head- 0% can be from any existing model
---1x Arm- 12.5%, 2x Arms- 25% either from the same or separate models
---1x Leg- 12.5%, 2x Legs- 25% either from the same or separate models
---Torso- 25%
---Things like FW's Red Scorpion upgrade pack DO NOT count to the 25% limitation.
4- Green Stuff/Sculpting putty is fine, small details to a full sculpt.
5- 1 calendar month build time, June 1st 2013 til July 2nd 2013, this guarantees everyone gets one month.
6- Multiple entries per user.
7- Rune Priests and Sorcerors acceptable, Psychic Hood and Force Weapon still required.
8- You must declare participation a minimum of 24hrs prior to declaring completion, having said that, I don't mind if you've had a little head start,.

9- If you wish to participate in any previous challenge, declare your intention here and post your completed models in the appropriate Completions thread. This will entitle you to use the banners/pips from that challenge, the time frame from the current challenge still applies. You'll find the links at the start of this post.

HOW TO ENTER:
Right, so now you know the rules, how do you enter?

First off, declare your participation here in this thread, with the following declaration,

Quote
I, {insert your name} undertake Grotsmasha's Librarian Kit-Bash Challenge to kit-bash at least one {insert unit type Librarian/Rune Priest/Sorcerer} by July 2nd, 2013.

which will earn you a participation banner/pip to wear in your signature.

Ok, so here is the Participation banner and Pip, hopefully I've gotten it right and it's size is acceptable,

I'm still so confused by the precentage thing. Does that mean that I can use a fine cast model as a base, and then GS details over it to make it look like a Liberian?

On the mater of the Psyker hood.... I was going to not include one on my model, as my fluff for him was going to be that he instead had something equivalent to a null rod in his spine. A hood can be taken off, but a rod in your spine is a rod in you're spine..... That would be illegal still?

The percentage thing means you can't use a pre-existing model in it's entirety, you'll need to pick and choose which pieces you'll use.

As for the null rod, as long as the finished model is distinctly a Librarian, it'll be ok.

Cheers,

Jono

I really want to enter this, but Sorcerers don't even use psychic hoods.

I don't usually do final assembly on my models until after they're painted - if I jump on this, can it be assembled with blue-tack to show finished so I can paint it later?

I, pbenner, Answer Grotsmasha's call to kit-bash a librarian per his instructions in the first thread before July 2nd.

(And Maybe I'll paint it for the ETL! - lol)
