Night Lords 15th Company - In Memoriam...Pg.68

Recommended Posts

But you forget about few things. Among them - scouting and infiltrating enemy ranks (what is actually possible as long as night lords aren't so influenced by chaos) and overwhelming with numbers. Where 1 astartes will fall 100 men will, probably, stand.

But that's just my personal opinion of how I see it possible to add cultists/renegades to the VIII.

I never saw it as Cultists. I saw it, that if I ever used that unit, they'd be prisoners being marched as cannon fodder, who were so scared of the masters behind them that they would kill anyone, including the Emperor himself, if it stood between them and freedom. And then there are the Night Lord masters shooting indiscriminately into the mess of bodies from behind. If I ever used the unit. I agree with Brother Heinrich, plenty of ways to see the fluffy, just no desire to actually use it. Edited by Kol_Saresk

Exactly, there are plenty of ways to warp the fluff to make it work, I mean there are catalogued examples of the Night Lords and Alpha Legion using cultists to plunge whole sectors into chaos and terror. I just choose not to use them, I prefer the viewpoint of post-human lords of terror, they don't want to be bothered with herding human cattle, they want to get to grips with the enemy and hear their screams as they bathe in their blood. They don't sneak, they don't scheme, they roar out like Carnosaurs, proclaiming doom with the pounding tread and whining servos of their ancient armor. They want the rattle of skulls and chains to herald their coming while the revving of chain-blades and the crash of bolters proclaims their mastery over the weak. Those are the Night Lords I envision.

Can't wait to see these nutjobs decked out in color! I've grown tenfold in appreciation on the lightning scheme over the last few years. As for cultists, I'd like to see a Night Lords (and Alpha) supplement that augments cultists for a more fluffy purpose when used in the legion.

So with the aid of some Cannibal Corpse and my love for you guys, here's the test model as promised. Let me know what you think.

I'd advise dulling down the silver, especially on the helmet, it looks a bit out of place currently. Otherwise good job. :smile.:

Yeah i'll probably mix the silver with some black to get a more gun-metal color, thanks!

The OSL glow looks a bit too harsh as well. Less like a glow and more like war paint. You might take some of the base color and thin it WAY down and do several coats to fade that outer edge of the glow.

I felt that way too, didn't come out quite the way I had hoped but I'll just keep practicing at it.

Thanks! Yeah I've always been fascinated by the Badab War and I would love to play in a campaign with all the different chapters involved, sadly I don't have the time or money to invest in a Badab War army, maybe down the road. For now I content myself with modeling renegades from some of my favorite chapters, especially the Carcharodons, love those guys.

Oh wow. I love the Terminator conversions, the leg plates are a cool addition and the spines on the back are a nice touch. The CSMs are all very characterful as well. If that test model is anything to go by this'll be a hell of an army - dig the lightning and the freehand cracking on the base - can't wait to see more.

Awesomely painted fella, well done indeed in following this thread.

Also the chain link you got wrapped round these guys...where'd you get it from?

I feel like we could have a very good cultist conversation for Night Lords but that not what this thread is for.

Brother Heinrich what did you do for that blue?!

It seems like a really Navy shirt makes you trip out and compare it to black socks to see if it is really black or blue.

I actually got it from one of my wife's old necklaces she decided to get rid of lol.

Thanks, The blue was a 1:15 mix of black and french blue from the vallejo paint line. I used an airbrush to paint from a 45° downward angle then highlighted the edges with pure french blue, when I finished all the metal areas I washed it with nuln oil.

The Templar screamed through blood-fleck lips and broken teeth. His screams were not those of a man in agony, but rather the cries of one who has never known the feeling of being helpless and at the mercy of those he hates.

Vadrek looked down at the screaming super-human warrior pinned beneath his boot, the red eye lenses of his mark IV helm glowing in the darkness. The Templar's legs had been severed, cleanly cut and cauterized by the glowing green blade held in Vadrek's fist.

He chuckled softly, the sound warped into a mechanical growl by his helm's vocalizer unit.

"To think, this is what has become of Dorn's mighty sons, a pack of thin-blooded weaklings who worship a throne of lies."

The mutilated knight narrowed his eyes in fury. "The name of Rogal Dorn is too worthy to pass your traitorous lips heretic, end me and cease your pathetic taunts."

Vadrek chuckled again as he lifted the ancient power blade over the wounded Templar. "Say what you will about worth and honor, I never cared for either one and even less for Primarchs."

The Templar's eyes suddenly caught the design on the handle of Vadrek's sword. "Traitor! You defile the sword of Reynald!"

"Yes that was his name wasn't it? Better fighter than you, thats for certain. Don't worry though, your pathetic existence won't end here, no, as the last of your brothers alive you get a place of 'honor'."

The Templar screamed in fury again and flailed against Vadrek's ancient armor. Vadrek chuckled again and blink-clicked the rune for 1st Claw's comm channel.

"Brothers, make this one a blood eagle."

So after converting most of the army, I realized the Sergeant of 1st Claw hadn't really changed much from his previous incarnation. Being the Sergeant of 1st Claw means you don't get to be 'average', so I overhauled him completely, keeping only his sword and backpack. Let me know what you guys think.

Vadrek, Sergeant 1st Claw, VIII Legion.

Dude love it now crucify that Templar on a base and have him stand over him

Thanks, I would have him standing over him but that would crowd the base too much, so I just went with the helmet, as for the son of Dorn himself, just wait, he'll be making an appearance...

Nice Fluff for a nice Character !

Thanks, wait till I post up the fluff for the Captain of the warband.

Hmm, yeah. You're going to need to lock your doors at night.

Locked, razor-wired, and mined.

This are awesome Night Lords it is good to see a returning brother of the VIII Legion, all hail the Night Haunter! Can't wait for the 1st Claws sergeant to be painted and I loved his fluff :biggrin.:

Thanks man! Pretty busy with school this week, but I should be able to slap some paint on these guys next week.

Also here's the work In progress for 1st Claw's ride. Not sure about the head for the Templar though, any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I love it heinrich my only thing would be please oh please crack open that torso for a bit of gore

:smile.:

I wholeheartedly agree with Jaspcat.  A little battle damage to his armor would be just the thing.  I think that Sgt. Vadrek is perfect just as he is.  Would you mind telling me what kit his boots come from?
